Hello
I'm completely new to this forum and to BG modding in general, so please excuse me if I'm posting in the wrong forum.
I have installed the BiG World mod with the "recommended"-setting.
Now I read what huge amount of new content the "standard" installation would bring and I'm thinking about upgrading.
So my questions are:
Can I do it safely? If yes, how?
Can I still continue with my old saves?
Yeah, that's it already, thanks in advance!
Upgrading Big World Project from recommended to standard

Welcome! As a somewhat veteran to this and a chronic reloader when things go wrong, I'd recommend against standard installation as the new content you get well some of it blends right in there with the original game while other stuff seems incomplete, overpowered or just plain doesn't fit. I would recommend going with the bws beta and adding some things as you have much more control over the content. With the beta installer you can choose individual components and individual mods. I'd recommend only adding a few extra things to get a taste for what works or not. Finally, keep it simple, adding a ton of stuff isn't better for the reasons I mentioned above.

Ill concur too, using the Big World installer I never just install the standard or recommended by itself, I look through the list and pick and choose what I want, be careful you don't have any foreign language mods or clashes, but it should inform you of those.

Usually, when people ask questions, you first give the answers and then give your recomandation...
How, you just restart the 'BiG World Setup.vbs' and it will give you your options.
2) Nope, the eventual reinstall that you need to do with the above method, will involve restoring the game to the original state, which will by itself remove the possibility of continuation.
I would recomend that you first start the 'BiG World Setup.vbs', let it do the restoration of the original game from the backup, then exit the setup, download the latest beta from here(it should be the 20110410 ), and run that to extract it to the game folder you have just restored, and it will then start the more modern system of the setup, make a custom setup with a plenty of choosable components etc, save the selection you make and then proceed to the download & install process.
1) Well, yes, safely, well... it has multiple meanings, but...So my questions are:
1) Can I do it safely? If yes, how?
2) Can I still continue with my old saves?
