Hey, guys!

I'm really enjoying this mod of yours. Tried to replay BG1/BG2 for years and you gave me the best of reassons to do so now. :)

Now, i got a crippling problem when after my return from Durlag's Tower i get involved on the cultist quest, in particular when confronting the Demon Aec'Letec: The game just freezes when the demon tries to move.

Tried different in-game strategies to get arround this bug but with no result. I'm quite sure that the problem is with Aec'Letec itself (its script maybe), as the freeze only happens with the demon on the screen.

Any help?

Thanks for your time.

Make sure you have 'Logging On=1' under Program Options in your baldur.ini file, reproduce the crash and then post the contents of the resulting baldur.err text file.

Thanks for your reply, Miloch.

Indeed i have the "Logging On=1" option enabled on said .ini file. But the thing is that nothing gets logged on Baldur.err file; the file is empty.

If it's enabled, it should have at least a "---Start Logging Session---" line every time you start the game (even if there's no assertion error).

Also, you could try TobEx which enables more logging. But if it's not an assertion (game-captured) error, that might not help much either.

So the other option is to look at the .cre and his script (.bcs) file, start by doing a weidu --change-log tanar.cre and tanari.bcs (some mod may have changed these, but those are the defaults at least, I think). There's a pinned FAQ in this forum on how to do that.

Indeed the file has that line, but it's empty of usefull data (nothing got logged).

I can't seem to find that FAQ that you're pointing at, Miloch. Sorry.

Anyway, i do have a TANARI01.CRE on my "override" folder, but there isn't any tanari.bcs to be found (or anything like that anyway). I'm attaching said file if it helps to bring some light to the problem.

Maybe someone can post the correct tanar.cre and tanari.bcs files? I could try to run the game with those and see what happens...

And thanks for your help so far.  :)

The FAQ is here (megamod forum). BGT renames tanari.bcs to bgtanari.bcs, so change-log that instead. But you should have a tanar.cre for Aec'Letec (*not* tanari01.cre). Look at that first as some mod may have changed its scripts. Also, post the contents of your WeiDU.log (in [ spoiler ] tags so it doesn't spam the thread). It would be a bad idea to use someone else's files, as they could have a totally different set of mods.

Thanks for your directions, Miloch!

I've done the "change-log" that you asked, and i'm attaching the results, along my WeiDU.log. Please have in mid that i've run a "change-log" for every file involved (bgtanari.bcs, tanari.cre, tanari.bcs and tanari01.cre). Only got a result for bgtanari.bcs.

Run the change-log on tanar.cre not tanari.cre. Also, you can just paste the contents of the change-log.txt here - no need to attach it (it's not a big file or anything).

Edit: I think one problem at least with your WeiDU.log is that you've got the Fixpack installed last. It should in fact be installed first - before even BGT I think. Having said that, I don't know if the BG2 Fixpack changes a BG1 resource (the change-log is one way to find out).

Sorry Miloch, my mistake there, mate.

Here it is the Tanar.cre "changelog":

Spoiler

And as far as i know, the Fixpack shouldn't affect any BG1 files. It was a late addition on my mod list, and i do not wished to reinstall everything again at that moment. Do you think it could be the source of the problem?

No, it doesn't look like it since only BGT affects both the .cre and its script. But hmm, oddly the Fixpack might actually solve the problem - or could if it incorporated my tanar'ri animation fix, but I don't think it has.

Try downloading and installing this bugger (the animfix-v1.zip at the bottom of the post). I have only heard of the tanar'ri animation crashing on the death sequence, but it could, in theory, happen with any sequence (including when you first see it).

Hey, Miloch! It was a good guess, mate... but unfortunately, it didn't work...

Once thing i think i noticed is that the game freezes when Aec'Letec tries to cast some of his spells/effects, not necesarily when he moves.

I see... then it might be more difficult to pin down unless you can figure out which spell it is. But you've got very few mods so I rather doubt it's a mod issue - could be a video card thing. Try uninstalling and upgrading your video card driver as 10thLich suggested in that thread I linked.
