Well, I'm not sure what went wrong, but I managed to get it all working after completely uninstalling BG2, deleting the folder, and starting again!

I have downloaded and been installing BPW 9.8.1. I started the Big World Install.bat script at 8pm last night, and as of now its still going. That's been 18 hours. Is this.. normal? It keeps giving me messages slowly. Right now it is doing something with character scripts. It said Doing iteration #1 for about an hour, and then iteration #2. Just exactly now it has started Iteration #3. But seriously, 18 hours?!?

Is the game on an external hard drive ? Don't do those...

No, its not. It is on another partition, though.

Maybe when you install it again tick the 2nd box that lets you select which mods to install - and deselect that trimpack. I installed mine on "recommended" and didn't notice anything similar.

Another problem! I've noticed when clicking on some characters, right now it's commoners in Beregost, they speak German! It seems something's up with the soundsets that were installed. Anyone have any idea how to narrow this down and fix it?

Did the BWS install the "Ascalons Breagar" ... it's the "setup-ACBre.tp2", it has German, a lot of it.

Are there any drawbacks on using the latest BWP beta version over the BPW 9.8 version ?

The beta version seems more advanced, and yet more user-friendly to me.

The installation is STILL going on! I can hardly believe it. Its been two full days now, 48 hours, and it is now stuck at Randomizing Item Placement.

I think I should mention that I'm running windows vista and doing all of this on a second partition of my hard drive that is formatted as Ext2. I can only imagine that the Ext2 file system is what is causing the slowdown. But I'm almost done here... I can't give up now!

Uhm, may I ask why you use a Windows-system to install on a Linux-filesystem?

As far as I know, drivers for Ext2 are created by programmers in their free time and I doubt that they put the emphasize on speed. In most cases, it's uses to exchange stuff and often more than read only is experimental.
For me, Ntfs-3g is the far better approach if you want to exchange files.

I originally set up a 30gb vista installation, a 10 gb ubuntu installation, and the rest of my hard drive as an ext2 file system for data. I used a vista driver for ext2 that I found on the net. My vista partition is not big enough for this big picture install, so i have been doing it on my ext2 partition. And I guess it is quite slow. Its never been an issue before now.

My very first installation, complete tactic version, took 7 days (external drive and old notebook...).

No, this didn't get installed. I made sure to tick the box that said no non-English mods. The text in the dialogue is all fine and in English, it's actually just the sounds they make when you click on them. And it's only two types of commoners! Very weird.

Ok, I finally finished installing this beast and started playing it. It seems that Rose the bard who can be found in the Red Sheaf has spells in her spellbook but can't cast any. I have rested several times so far and I expected her to be able to cast, but she can't. It looks like she has spells like a sorcerer, with no memorization slots. Anybody know what's up?

edit: Ok, she leveled up to 2 and got one memorization slot. I guess its normal bard progression.

Possible bug in 9.8:

I am having a problem with the “Cloak of the Sewers”. I posted the question here because I thought it is related to SCSII beta fixes, but it seems not.

There is also a reference in that post related to Cloak of the Wolf which seems not resolved and might be the culprit.

Anyone more information on this?

Hi, I'm trying to install the BWP in my pc. Spanis version

I installed the textpack (the spanish one) the mods are un SoA directory and I have in the directory the fixpack and the install too. When i start the "install.bat" shows me this message

Either the folder "BiG World Textpack" does not exist or
it does not fit to the selectet language.

The file "BiG World Textpack.bat" does not exist.

Please copy the corresponding file and folder into your BGII - SoA
   directory and then continue.

And the most disturbing, every times I start the install.bat, the textpack folder and file dissapear.

What can I do?

Update to using the BWS would be my recommendation.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.
