PS. When I was at the Gnoll Stronghold and was removing Kivan to put Dynaheir in my party I didn't have the options when talking to Kivan after removing him to send him to the Jovial Juggler or Friendly Arms Inn like I usually do. I ended up moving him with Near Infinity so that I wouldn't have to go drop someone off and come back for him. (I would never remember where he is otherwise)

Re: Kivan, you need to have the component that allows you to do that (from BG1 NPC I think). Check your WeiDU.log if unsure.

PS.I'm using a standard BWP install and Kivan does have that function except for (so far) in that specific area.

You can try to take the pc uspstairs and downstairs and maybe it solves the problem. I found out that changes area sometimes makes one of the party to block him/herself and can't go on if they are all together, but can return to the previous area and go back again to let him/her move freely (looking at the screenshot it doesn't seem your case).
I remembered also that in the temple of talos I couldn't go down to the room where is the priestess for the quest of the thieves cause where there is the door something invisible blocks it. So I tries in some ways and found out that a good fireball release the invisible wall cause it hits that something that blocks the access (insight or reveal invisibility don't reveal anything). With fireball I had to try a pair of times but in the end it worked.
I really don't try it but I think that if you can move your char to the area upstairs and with someone create some summons where the char can't go down the stair, maybe when the char returns to the area you can force the game to place him/her in a place where he/she can move freely.
That kind of "invisible walls" is terrible, fortunately in my game they are very rare.
