Hey all, I had a problem with the part of the game in Ust Natha where the demon lord is summoned by the matron and is killed by it, then Phaere is supposed to say something. But all I get after the demon finishes talking is a "No Links or dialogues" in my dialog box. I gave Phaere the fake eggs Solaufein gave to me, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I did some searching on the topic and I thought I had found the solution - an unupdated version of the Gavin NPC mod. So I update that (I think this is where I went wrong - the uninstallation took a really long time as did the reinstallation of the updated version, a few hours each) and boot up the game.

The only problem is that now the game takes a good 5 minutes to load once I click on my shortcut to bgmain (all while bgmain.exe is active in my task manager) and when I'm inside the game it is really really slow and choppy. And it didn't fix my problem! I still have the same dialog problem. So I just decided to just kill the demon lord and make a run for the exit. A pretty easy 19,500 XP as he didn't even put up a fight.

As a sidenote on my way out I was stopped by a duergar to talk to the being in the tank on the first platform by the merchants and asked to kill this NPC and take their brain, so I did that and it turned all the inhabitants of Ust Natha against me. I couldn't even go back to turn in the brain. Is that supposed to happen?

So I know I messed up somewhere, but I don't know where and I don't know how severely. I have a feeling I've messed things up pretty bad...

I'm attaching my Weidu.log file which I haven't done anything with since I updated the mod, should I update it somehow and then repost it? Is there anything else I should attach as well?

Thanks for your support.

You went ahead and uninstalled a mod from a BiG World Install... a bad mistake...
What comes to the slow down, you game is not biffed, so what I would first do is install the Generalized biffing, and then try the other stuff in this post...

Yeah, I thought it was a big mistake at the time. That's what I get for not thinking clearly in the early hours of the morning.

I tried installing Generalized Biffing and it errored and I couldn't install it. It gave me some sort of Unix Error.

Edit: Weird, I guess it did install. The game still takes a looong time to boot up but when it finally did the in game lag was back to how it was before, meaning normal. But now it seems like the entire game is different. Some of my weapons are gone and my equipment that I previously had equipped can no longer be equipped. Also the icons for some items have changed.

when weidu uninstalls one mod, it also removes all mods which had been installed afterwards. I don't know how the BWP installer works (normally, re-installing means that all mods installed afterwards, after being removed, are re-installed, but perhaps the BWP changes something...); anyway, you should re-install all mods you have removed, and in the same order, manually. But I'm afraid that you don't remember exactly what mods you had...

Ah I see. So it looks like this is the end of the line for me.

Is it possible to use my save files in a less modified version of the game? As you can see I have been playing on a quite heavily modified version and have been thinking I shouldn't be considering it's my first time playing through and all.

Unfortunately not; you'll basically stuck with starting a new game, I'm afraid.

Hey guys, sorry for all this hand hand holding here, but could you help me out once again? I've come to the conclusion that I want to reinstall bg2, and this time without as many mods. My first question is there anything special I should do before or while uninstalling the game? Or can I just go through Revo Uninstaller or Windows Uninstaller and click uninstall?

And then, when I reinstall is there anything special I should do? I was thinking of following the advice in this thread and install the bare minimum. So the install order would be like he laid it out - BG2+ToB, patch, then the mods.

Oh yeah, and is there a way once I reinstall to effectively skip to the part of the story where I left off? I was pretty close to finishing the game but just want to see the last part of the story really.

Again, thanks!

Well, like said in my quide somewhere, you can do that, the only special thing you really need to do is that you remove the whole entire folder after the uninstall, so there is nothing left, why because if you wish to use the same folder, you do wish to have a clean install and not already overwritten wish plenty of files in the override folder... and on installing, bepending on the OS, use this. But the install order in that post you linked is solid.

As always Jarno, thanks for your replies. I'll hopefully have better luck next time. So, is there a way to get back to the point I was in the story before? (the start of chapter 6) Or do I have to play up to that point? If I can't somehow "warp" up to that point is there anything I can do to progress the story quicker?

I don't really care about gear or items, just the story is so good :D

Thanks

It little depends a little on what you are willing to cope with, but I would say that it's far too complicated to try to cope with every possible outcome... what you can do is level up the characters a bit by cheating... and then just runing from the A points to B's ...
And no need to thank me.
