Hey guys, this is my first post on here :) hi lol

Anyway, I have a problem running IWD2 on my system, My problem is that my system, for some reason will not play the game at all, as in when I click the Icon, my system never seems to get around to launching it. Not even a process is started.

Does anyone know why the game woud behave in this way? How can I fix it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

i'll include a dxdiag file if it will help

What system do you have? Where have you installed the game? And how are you launching it?

I have Wind7x64 home premium, I have it installed i my C/ directory, and I disabled UAC just so I could play the game and it still didn't work.

I uploaded a Dxdiag file if you want to take a look :)

I've read somewhere that, under win vista and 7, installing the game in the Program directory can cause problems. Is this your case, or is it in a normal folder?

Try re-installing it, for instance, into C:\iwd2 or something like that.

Could be worth trying compatibility mode, i dont have win7 to give you detailed instructions, but i think its roughly this: Create a new shortcut to the main iwd2.exe and right click on the shortcut (not the exe) and go to compatibility options - probably in one of the tabs you'll find it, maybe advanced tab. Then select another os like winxp or win2000. Double click the shortcut you created, see if that helps.

Well, you probably have to start over, uninstall the game, remove the game folder and then reinstall NOT into the Program Files folder... the most likely reason for why the game doesn't start is that one of the configuration files is not entirly correct... and the reinstall should correct that.
When you have done the reinstall from the CD/DVD, start the game without any mods in it upto the point it autosaves, then if the game doesn't already have the v2.01 patch, use that from here for example. Then restart the game... then install mods you wish.

The game should also give you a reason why it doesn't start...

I tried reinstalling, and patching. And I'm still getting nothing, not even an error message. Thank you for the reply though, do you have any more suggestions?

I've been thinking...since from what you have told me, that you don't have a disk version of the game that whatever "copy"(?) you have has errors on it or is missing information and that is probably why it's not working. I have the same system and a disk to install from and I didn't have any problems with this IWD. Also I could be wrong (often am) but I thought to play the game you had to have a disk...it might be worth it to go get one.
