Does it help if you pause the game and then do the screen move/scroll? What Graphic Card do you have? This might help, or the configurations in this.

No, when I pause the game and scroll/move the screen, it's the same - still looks terrible. Only the lagging stops.
I have ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 card.

:whistling:

What Graphic Card do you have ? Ups. :wacko: This might help, or the listed configurations in this, even on ATI card.

Sorry for the re-edit.

Oh my, now that's complicated... I changed the configuration according to the list in the second list (3D acceleration options which I had disabled) and it's still the same. As about that D3DWindower program, it's so complicated:/ Can I play in full screen mode using this? Can I open my game just clicking on its icon, or would I have to repeat all those steps every time? And my saves be... safe? :)
If the answers are yes, could you please write me what exactly I should to to install and run this? There are so many different tips and solutions there (in the link you wrote), written by many people... I'm not a geek, I'm not good at computers as you might have noticed :/

Did you do all these: Go to game directory, run the BGConfig.exe, in which you tag these...
Hardware -> Enable 3D Acceleration.
Display -> 32 bit.
2d & 3d options -> Enable 3D Animations, the "Use 3D Acceleration" -> Drivers: Default Open GL Driver, and "32 bit textures (off for 3dfx)" while do not tag the "Disable Vertex Padding" -option. ... Then Test, Apply and then OK.

The reason why I wish to confirm these is that the BGII shouldn't have any advantages from the other approaches in the NVidia topic.

Yes, I did all of them...

Edit:

I've opened a new thread with my problem, so I removed my post.

Allow me to offer another angle towards looking at the problem.

I had very similar problem to what Janusushi described. I was at the stage when party first entered baldurs gate (chapter 6 BG1 of BGT).

I found that the lagging can be alleviated gradiently when my "container items", such as bags of holdings, ammo belts, potion cases etc, are gradully removed from party inventory. Eg. I had 8 containers to begin with - jerks hard always. When I remove down to 4, jerking is minimal but can be felt. When down to only 1, almost no jerking.

The changes in smoothness of the game is astoundingly quick...all it takes is return to main game view, and move about your character and pointer, and straight away you feel a difference.

So yah there you go, if you have a similar scenario to mine, try trashing those containers...

here's the thing ... is this a laptop? It seems that laptops with intel chips just don't play nice with this game. on my laptop, i can not have 3d acceleration turned on ... once i turn it off, the game runs like silk. on my wife's laptop (an amd), the game runs just fine with 3d on. i've seen that i may be a hyperthreading thing, but my bios won't let me disable it to test that theory. i've just learned that i have to play the game with 3d off.
i have a witty signature thought up, i just haven't posted it yet.

Windstrider, I get this lag too and I agree it's the containers. No idea why though, it's nothing to do with 'bottemless bags of holding' as I've tried with and without on two laptops (both intel).

8gig RAM
i7 64 bit &
NVIDIA GeForce 350M
