I recently installed BWP using BWS with Recommended settings; I excluded backstab penalties for certain weapons (from item_rev), thief kit modifications (from RR), and some NPC mods.

My level 3 Assassin is getting 29 damage backstabs using a dagger of venom +2 with +14 to hit rolls. What mod could be doing this?

Is that lot ?My level 3 Assassin is getting 29 damage backstabs using a dagger of venom +2 with +14 to hit rolls. What mod could be doing this?
Say, you have a normal thief of level 3, you get backstab modifier of 2, the Assassin Kit has a spell effect that gives him a +1 damage(and Thac0) and the weapon does 3-6 damage(the spell effects and damage & +weapon factors are multiplied with the backstab modifier as is the poison effects of the dagger and if the Kits innate ~'Poisoned Weapons' effect is used, so at mimimum you have (1d4+3)*2+ ... ), and if you have a Strength of 18, you get a damage modifier of +2, but if you have a Strength of 18/100(from a spell), you get damage modifier of +6(this is not multiplied). Also if the opponent doesn't have a melee weapon at hand when you hit them with a melee weapon, a bonus of +4 is given to the damage and Thac0 (I don't know if that is doubled in this case), which makes it possible that you have a correct damage without any mods interfering this...
It's not that lot yet, but the other end is far worse with few items, when you have a right kind of character and the right items, the negative effects make your damage modifier negative in game terms, but as the game doesn't heal this way, the damage flips around once and you get the 255 'bonus damage' points, but that's not the worst part, it's when that damage is then multiplied by a skilled thieves backstab multiplier of 5 giving you a possible 1275 damage point output.
