How to restore the exp cap (8 million) in BWP?

Well, perhaps the best easy way is to open the games files with Near Infinity(how to get that is answered here, the answer #11), open the "XPCAP.2DA" file with it, and put the number you wish on the VALUE to the classes.

I don't have XPCAP.2DA in the BG2 directory, even I pasted the original XPCAP.2DA from the clean BG2 and start a new game, the exp cap is 40 million still.

Can anyone help me? Thanks.

This is my XPCAP.2DA (from a BGII-ToB install with just fixpack and stuff installed) All classes seem to be capped at 8 million ... Have a go with it

Extract the file into the "override" folder in your "BGII-SoA" folder

No, you obviously don't have the file, as you just archived the modified file when you installed the Generalized biffing mod.
So you need to use the editor to open the file.
And you pasted the original XPCAP.2DA into the wrong directory, itneeds to go into the "override" folder, in the game folder.

1) There is a file called XPCAP.2da in your BGII - SoA/override/ folder.
2) You can open that file with Notepad (or any text editor)
3) There are numbers in the file (if they're 40000000, change them to whatever cap you need)
4) You can start a New ToB game
5) Use CLUAConsole:SetCurrentXP(99999999)
6) Open your char's screen and check what the current XP is. And tell us what the number is

On another note, does ToBEx remove the XP cap?? Yeah, that was totally random Don't answer that ...

You really don't need to!!! It'll give you the same thing ... except with a 25 GB override folder and making your game load for 15 mins before starting

There's gotta be a link between SK or something. Please try actually doing the SetCurrentXP() thing in-game ... if you already started reinstalling ... oh boy

What Operation System do you currently use ? Include the OS's bit count and the SP number.
Cause if my suspicions are right, you have the Windows XP SP3, or updated Vista/Windows 7, you need to reinstall the whole freaking game to somewhere else as the 'Program Files' folder becomes protected folder under the SP3/Vista/W7, and that's why the changes don't take effect at all, as the files have become to be mirrored from elsewhere...

No you don't have to start a new game. The 2da changes are immediate in game. I know this because this is a mysterious issue I came across a while ago and did not find the culprit so I edited my file according to level 50 rulesets a lo TDD, RoT or BP whichever tastes better.

EDIT: Try looking at something like XPLEVEL.2DA for something fun and exciting to learn from. Mine after editing the botched one:

EDIT2: Interesting, the XPCAP should look like this or something. Check these values in response to the original poster. Then double check the XPLEVEL.2da to make sure they are going to the new levels. I believe that this is the Darkest Day rule but must have gotten overridden, probably because someone is removing the level 50 ruleset from the TP2 or it is blatantly overwritten by another mod.
