I'm glad it's not just me!! I too was thinking "hey, that bar wench looks more like a Nord than a Breton" but then a niggling doubt crept in, and I thought "oh well, must be just me". Well, as AMS said, it's Kotaku. Still kinda surprising, considering Bethesda reposted the article on their own official Facebook page; one might think that they'd proofread the stuff before putting it on their page. Oh well. No biggee in my book, I'm just waiting patiently for November when I'll be making my own Breton anyhow. ^_^

One thing though... The more I see these screenshots cropping up all over the Internet, the more I'm thinking... All those skin shades seem really dark, bordering on a greyish black. Anyone else get that impression? I mean, just look at their Redguard, the skin tone is really different. (Not that different is necessarily bad, mind you, is a bit disconcerting at first, I'll probably get over it :D )

The female Redguard picture we saw earlier, the FO3 Raider-ish one, has a skintone much more similar to that of Oblivion's and Morrowind's Redguards; I assume you can adjust that. :)

Via Twitter:

We can confirm today that we're using Steamworks for Skyrim
8:05 AM Aug 17th via TweetDeck

Personally I don't care anymore, although I'm still annoyed by the extra step of booting the client (offline) every time I want to play a game - playing Dungeon Siege III at the moment.

Well I think the journalist said that they, accidentally, killed that companion dog. Sounds like the ally A.I might have the usual Bethesda awkwardness.
It's taken me a little while to like this female Dunmer screenshot. I like the fierceness and the facial scar. The brow ridges are scary though and I don't like how scrawny she looks. We've seen all these male characters with defined muscle tone and I was hoping it would be possible to make a female character that looked both strong and athletic. I was hoping for arms that show muscle definition at least.

I could be wrong (too many upcoming games crammed into my brain these days), but I swear I read somewhere that there's a body size slider of some kind, so hopefully that's just a shot of the stick-thin side. Those eye ridges...yeah, I don't know what to think of that.

Yes it does look like there will be a body slider which will be good, depending on how it's implemented for different genders though.
I hope if there's a brawny option for males then there is a similar one for female characters.
I think the first female argonian picture, lizzle-bob from Destructoid, is a bigger looking character build than the robe/hooded one.

My Breton mage will be overweight if I can make it happen. They should at least make it possible for people to use an out of shape sort of look. I hate the whole Conan the Barbarian look people are expected to go with. Make a note modders!

Don't even get me started with Khajiit and fat. Oh, look it's a fat cat... especially if they've got a high Mercantile skill. Savvy? :P

I absolutely agree! It would enhance the roleplaying possibilities.

Well Modders made it for oblivion so bethesda should be able to do it.

Yeah, I know. The fact is though, that there are so many great mods that Bethesda will only implement improvements from the most popular ones per a new TES title. Let's hope they paid attention to this detail.

A high Mercantile skill will allow you to make more money. And what can we call big money people, or in this case Khajiit? Fat cats. Pun most definitely intended! :P

Just as an aside, aside from the colour, the dog in that screenshot looks almost exactly like the dog I had growing up. <3

Conclusion, I love that dog in the screenshot and I will hug it and pet it and squeeze it and call it George.

The woman's brow ridges makes me think of Buffy 'verse vampires, which is bad.

Ok we've got the Facegen Preset Faces of all the races.

Going by the picture Argonians will naturally be high on drugs in this game (IMO). :P

Well, it seems that vampires have been confirmed for Skyrim. Still no word on werewolves, though.

One Hour With Skyrim Finally Made Me a True Believer (Hands On) (at Ripten)

The article's well worth a read, if only because of all the details regarding the world, and the little comments on how certain things have been streamlined (and not unpleasantly so).

Heh, nice article. When I read "vampires" and "confirmed," I did a little victory dance. :new_thumbs:
