I foresee a Dunmer Prettyfing mod being made really, really quickly, if that's what they all look like.

I think it's just the reporters going for the "gritty dark fantasy look" more than anything else, as you could even pull off some decent characters with Oblivion's inferior (vanilla) facegen if you put enough time into it. I'm actually feeling positive about the possibilities with Skyrim's facegen (granted, they gained +1 points with me when they announced that beards would be available from the get-go.)

I think I missed the memo. Are mohawks in this season? (Some of those journo's seem to have a fascination with them.)

As they only had an hour and it seems that most made characters quickly and then jumped into the game, this bodes well for the character customization system. Even with cosmetic mods installed I struggled to make decent looking characters in Oblivion. I eventually got there but they still seemed to have biggish heads.

I'm a sad panda. :crying: No one chose a female Breton.

Thanks for the link - you can now clearly see how bad Oblivion's facegen is when you look at the comparison screenshot for MW/OB/SR. It's just... well, embarrasing. Khajiit look better in Morrowind than in Oblivion.

Apparently, we've even got an Argonian flotting around out there! A player made an Argonian female while playing the Skyrim demo (I'm guessing at Quakecon?), and Bethesda sent him a screenshot of his creation. More info here.

At this point, they could all look similar and I'd be okay with it, just get more than 5 voice actors dammit!

Kotaku released an article entitled "Skyrim, you've come a long way, baby" which includes a little comparison of portraits from Morrowind to Oblivion to Skyrim. No information about voice actors, though, sorry Theacefes. ;)

Yeah, there's a few of those comparison compilations around, such as this one made by this guy.

The one Eleima posted earlier on this page has Imperials on it. It should be Imperial, Khajiit, Breton, Orc, Dunmer, Bosmer, Argonian, Nord, and Redguard. Missing Altmer though.

As I understand, from what has been said on the official forums, the Kotaku comparison has a number of errors particularly regarding the Imperial and the Bretons for Skyrim. No confirmed Imperial or Breton screenshots from the journalists have been released yet. The brown haired archer was confirmed as a Nord. I also thought that blond barmaid(?) npc was a Nord.
I think an imperial might be pending still. The only confirmed Imperial is a blurry guy walking in the background of a village street in one of the official released screenshots.

I was just assuming they were correct from the MW/OB comparisons, but I do notice the discrepancies now that you mentioned it. Well, it's Kotaku...

Edit: Something I found here under pending screenshots:
