Hello!

I was wondering if its possible to assign another kit to one of the characters in the game?

Specifically, I am trying to get Haer'Dalis to be a Skald rather than a Blade. I can edit the class in Shadowkeeper, but he still doesn't have the right battlesong. I would perhaps download something else to try to edit this, but I'm not sure how much I want to tamper with a working copy of the Big World Project!

Is there any way to assign this kit to Haer'Dalis?

Thanks!

Well, you don't need to, you just have to copy the "pdialog.2da" file from one of the "generalized biffing" mods backup files, or use Near Infinity to fish out the file back to the override folder, and then just run the setup-level1npcs.exe and install one of the 1200+ components, do not uninstall or reinstall any components, just skip the already installed mods... if you have the latest v1.4 level1npcs mod, you don't actually need that file either, but...

After that you need to load a save that has never been in the same area the Haer'Dalis creature file is in(the mages study), and play until he joins you...

Sorry ...

I find multiple copies of pdialog.2da, all in different locations. How do I know which is the right one (some of the files are in locations seemingly specifically related to characters, i.e. kivan, but some are in the BGT folder etc.

P.S. Is there a forum for near infinity? Or is this it? I was able to change another character into a bard but no a Skald (by just changing all of that character's .cre files relating to class to Bard, but I can't find out how to change them to Skald with near infinity. Right under the class heading there is a 'specific' heading which I imagine is for kits, but the possible values are just non-magic or magic and one other. Not sure what this means.

Thanks for the help!

It's inside the folder called "generalized_biffing" that's inside the game folder... usually, if it's not there, then it is already in the override folder, in which case you don't have to move it any more.

The kit has nothing to do with the "Specifics" value, but the "Kit" value that's under the sound selections of the .cre file:

if you have the latest v1.4 level1npcs mod, you don't actually need that file either

Might have helped to mention this first :P. It is definitely the easiest way to do it, despite having to skip through components til you get to Haer'Dalis. If you just use an editor to change his kit, you'll find a lot of things are wrong. He won't be able to use his default weapons for one thing, nor will he have the special abilities of a skald by default, as you've only changed his kit reference. L1NPCs should handle all those things (and yes, get the latest version).
