Hi :D This is my first post here, I hope this is an ok place for it!

I've just looked at most of the mods here for Baldur's Gate II, and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I want to install numerous content changing mods to create the best new gameplay experience for the entire saga! In the past I've just run the official patches, tutu, and tweakpack. I would love to significantly enhance the world with more stuff : )

If you could provide an install order for suggested mods that make the best gameplay experience possible, I would be extremely appreciative! This would be a tremendous help! : )

As an example, from gog.com I used Qwinn's mod install guide for Planescape: Torment, which worked perfectly. I'm looking for a clear step by step guide like that : D

...

Use the BWS and you don't need to worry about the install order...

Thanks!! This program is incredible :D

I haven't played through BG2 with a Kensai/Mage before - any recommendations for the NPCS I should pick up for a normal difficulty playthrough? I was wondering which NPCs might match well with a Kensai/Mage. I've liked using smaller parties in the past due to the lesser micromanagement, but a larger party could be fun for increased banter. Thanks :)

Well, the usual issue with Kensai/Mage, either dualed or Multi-classed is that you can do a specific stuff more than well, but the others you really cannot, and usually as the killing is not enough as you also need to survive and protect the weak characters with a meat shield(tank/front liner) or two.

I would suggest that you take at least one and a half full time professional healers(divine spell casters), and 2 front liners(good AC & a lot of Hitpoints, and some minor melee ability), those attributes translates as Jaheira and Anomen, or fitting replacer, you also need a thief that can remove some traps and a mage wouldn't make things worse, so either Nalia or Imoen->Nalia->Imoen, the others two slots are free to be chosen, usually I would take some quest NPCs, and there is a lot of them in a BiG World Setup game... and there you go, a party of 6.

Hi, BiG World just finished installing, but there's a problem. When I click tobexloader it comes up with the old 'Place Expansion CD in D Drive' screen. Any ideas? Please if anyone could help, this is a pretty frustrating.

Well, you need to have the play CD(the ToB expansion CD) inside a drive to actually play the game... and no, it doesn't actually mather if it's in the D drive, E drive, or the X98 drive, as long as the D drive is empty.

I did the TOB official patch again to see if the no cd would work, and now I'm getting a different error - chsound.cpp.

I looked that up and apparently you have to edit songlist.2da, I did that and copied it to the override folder, however there was no songlist.2da there. Sigh, this is just too hard.

I don't understand, thanks for your help but what should I do exactly? I installed the game from GOG.com digitally. I'm back to the can't find expansion disk screen again.

The file is 'biffed' into a .bif file(where the name comes from)... the TobExlauncher.exe has a correction for that, if the ToBEx is installed... there's also other ways to deal with that, but they are infirior once.

The GOG.com's digital download has edited BGMain.exe(no CD patched actually), so I am unsure on how to go around that, except that you can try a different one...

Thanks :)
I've given up and am deleting everything, going to try reinstalling again in hope. Is there any guide for installing the BiG World mod with GOG.com versions? It would save me a lot of hassle as I'm new to adding mods! I just want to play the game :)

Would the GOG.com's version be a little more than seven days old, there might actually be...

Any update on how to make this all work magnificently for the GOG download?
I'm in the process of downloading BG Original Saga and BGII Complete.

I'm in the process of downloading BG Original Saga and BGII Complete.

Well, there is two things, the version identifier readme.txt is renamed, it's original name is "BG2-ToBPatchReadMe.txt", and the because the game is the DVD version, it doesn't contain the CDx, the x being 2, 3, 4 or 5. So that data is stored in CDALL folder, or the like, which means that if you wish to use the BiG World Setup, you should copy the 25movies.bif file from the [gamefolder]/CDALL/movies/ to [gamefolder]/CD5/data/movies/ -folder and add the ";[gamelocation]\BGII - SoA\CD5\" to the [Alias] line that says where the CD5 is... so it becomes something like:
CD5:=C:\BWP\BGII - SoA\CDALL\;C:\BGII - SoA\CD5\
And keep in mind that you should never install this old games to the Program Files folders...
