I noticed a number of topics about this problem, but I haven't been able to find the solution. My BWP installation freezes while installing creature offset checker. Apparently, there is some discrepancy between the old cre_check.tp2 and the new one.



I've tried adding NUL back to the file, but it still freezes. Any help is appreciated.

If you've already started a game from before you tried such changes, it might still be affected by files in the previous version. So try a new game if you haven't.

The old version makes more sense (replacing ~ ~ with ~NUL~ and then vice-versa). Though I don't know exactly what it's supposed to be doing (I think it was Taimon's code originally), it makes little sense to replace a space with a space and then do it again. On the other hand, there are many reasons for replacing something with something else then reversing that later.

I'll also say that the bug reports seem to be getting more intelligent - anyone who uses a diffing tool (PSPad looks like?) on different versions of tp2 files gets a (that might not help much in the short run, but hopefully we'll figure it out in the long run).

Edit: thinking about it philosophically (from a "coder's" point of view, though I'm not really one) I can see how replacing a space with a space and then doing it *again* could lead to a loop, so I really do think the original code was better (again though, I don't know what it's supposed to be doing).
