Hi all i've recently installed BGT with a few other mods and have been experiencing a small problem its not game breaking but extremely annoying. During certain events normally talking to an npc, or discovering a creature spawn in an area the game will lag for around half a second to a second. Not enough to brake the game but enough to get irritating. I was wondering if anyone could help me with this. I currently have turned ambient sounds and all 3d settings of to see if this effects the issue. It hasn't it seems like its as iff scripts are firing slowly. Thank you for any help.

Where are you(in what area(push the x -key to find out), in what part of the game(bg1, BG2:SoA or ToB))... and have you done all the things mentioned in this topics answer #5.

I've noticed it in all areas i've played through Candlekeep, Friendly Arm and the two areas leading up to it. I've also tried the majority of the tips in that thread. Except for biffing (my override isn't very large so i'm not sure if it would help at all) and my hard disc isn't fragmented (its a new win 7 install). I haven't installed to a separate directory from Program Files though.

That could actually explain why the fixes aren't working... as the Operation System (Windows 7) mirrors the files in the Program Files folder to protect them from "outside influence".

Really? I might do a re-install of everything then. So even if i've disabled ambient sound etc in bgconfig.exe windows 7 is bypassing that?

At least in certain situations, yes.

Or you could just move the whole game folder to another folder, edit the baldur.ini and start the game with the BGMain.exe ... this is explained here a bit more on the answer #8.

Hey Jarno,

After moving my install around and removing widescreen mod so I can change my BGConfig settings i'm still having no luck. I've tested both my BG1 save as well as a new BG2 game. Same sort of issues, a slight delay during events, whether its starting dialogue or casting a spell. I'm going to do a vanilla install just to check it isn't my laptop being funny.

After a re-install and testing I found its my laptop even with 2D acceleration only Windows 7 and the intel GMA 3150 just doesn't seem to play nice with the BG2 engine IWD1 and 2 and PS:T seem fine though. Very odd. Its not too annoying to stop me playing though, thanks for your help Jarno.
