Alright, I'll state first off that I'm using 98se, which I'm guessing is why I'm having problems.  I had to wipe my hard drive, so after installing BG2, TOB, the patch and Baldurdash, I downloaded the mods I like to use and tried to install them.  I extracted the lot of them to my BG2 folder and attempted to update everything to the most recent WeiDU before actually installing anything.  Kelsey TOB 2.1 came with 13.6, so I tried to run that first to update everything.  It's getting stalled, however, and won't do a thing.  Double-clicking Setup-KelseyTOB results in the following:

[C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SOA\Setup-KelseyTOB.exe]
WeiDU version 136
(Setup-Hell.exe) Queried (pid = 76)[WeiDU-Backup] WeiDU version 133
[./chitin.key] 182 BIFFs, 41793 resources
[./dialog.tlk] 74107 string entries

It just completely stops here and does nothing further.  I have to close out the DOS window manually.  Going to try getting around it by using an earlier WeiDU version, but I just thought I'd mention this as a heads-up.

And yes, I know I need to update my OS in general, but if I use anything more recent than 98se (and don't mention ME; I ignore its existence :P), I can't run games without them seeming to run through a sludge of molasses.  Must get new motherboard.  Blah.  Someday.

Yeah, it looks like Wes has not fully solved the 98/ME compatibility problems with the new update mechanism. You might try manually updating Setup-Hell.exe to be WeiDU 136 since that seems to be the one killing the deal... although if you have a lot of mods, that might get tedious and is precisely the sort of thing the auto-update mechanism is meant to avoid.

Yeah, manually updating does seem to work (at the least, it stalled on DBG this time instead of the hell trials) but yeah, it's a little tedious. Worth it, though, to get the mods in. :)

Ah well, off to do some updating. :)

As a side note, the funky thing is that running Setup-KelseyTOB the first time DOES appear to have automatically updated Setup-Kelsey (version 1.5 for SOA), but nothing else. Weird.

Okay, manually updating the WeiDU version on everything allows me to install just fine, so it's definitely just the autoupdate causing the stalling.

WeiDU 137 is out and claims to fix this problem. Kish has tested it on '98 and it seems to work (that is, do the auto-update without hanging itself).

I would appreciate it if everyone would take a look and verify that it seems to be working.

As far as I can tell then 137 is working fine under 98SE.

That's good, because I'm running out of magical incantations to perform over this problem.

The

"COPY_EXISTING something
Patch it
COPY_EXISTING something else
Patch it too"

bug seems to be fixed, too. If it was ever broken, that is. Thanks Wes. :)

Ooh, and I got ADD_STORE_ITEM to do its thing. Now to check the store to see if it works...

(I just get all giddy any time a new WeiDU comes out. Heheh.)

Well theres always the ritual of reading from the Black Book of Despair - a tome made out virgin, gypsy flesh and scribed with the blood of 1000 new born babies - whilst standing in a chalk, pentagram in a stone circle and dancing naked on the corpse of an FWP moderator...

Bless you, Wes. Autoupdate is working like a charm with 137 and 98SE. Thanks a ton! :)

Just to add that little extra confirmation, it works fine on ME too (naturally).

I hate to be the downer of the party (I might even be at the wrong party), but I get this error when running Weidu 137 for MacOS X:

[./setup-items] WeiDU version 137
ERROR: Cannot perform auto-update, exiting!
Sys_error("setup-items.exe: No such file or directory")
logout
[Process completed]

I don't care about the auto-update, I just want the ADD_STORE_ITEM etc...any ideas?

EDIT: I figured it out, apparently now it requires the .exe suffix to work.

EDIT AGAIN: Just a note - the auto-update doesn't seem to even make an attempt at it for some reason. I'm content with having the new features, but I thought I would report it anyways.
