Hello,

Attached are my WeiDU.log and Baldur.log contents. Whether I'm booted into Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.11) or OS 9.2.2, I get a CTD during character creation, when the process is about to move to spell selection (everything up to that point works). So, of course, I'm unable to create such new characters. I'd like to know if this can be troubleshot and fixed, or if I should simply accept it as it is, and use NI to create arcane casters from now on.

Games with existing characters work just fine, so far, as I continue to test this monstrous installation...except that spells often don't fire! I tell my arcane spellcaster to cast a spell, and the animation goes through the casting motions, special effects appear, game text says the spell is cast, but then...nothing. Usually, spells such as Fireball and Skull Trap work, but others, like Death Fog or Web, simply don't take effect. I'm puzzled about that, but that's another story ;)

TIA for any help!
Happy modding,
Eric

Need your baldur.err file, not baldur.log. Make sure "Logging On=1" is in your baldur.ini file (if not, add it and reproduce the crash). I suspect it's a buggered spell BAM or something like that.

As you've got ToBEX installed:
~TOBEX.TP2~ #0 #100 // TobEx - Core: Beta 0004
~TOBEX.TP2~ #0 #1000 // Required files for scrollable kit selection: Beta 0004
~TOBEX.TP2~ #0 #1200 // Subtitles for stock Bioware soundsets: Beta 0004

There is/was a ToBEX Beta 0007 with a Beta 0004 version label around, as you don't have

~Required files for scrollable chargen mage spell selection~

it will always crash at that point, unless you install this component or disable this component in your ToBEX.ini.

The only thing I wanted from TobEx was the scrollable kit lists, but now realize that was a waste of time. Never touched TobExLoader.exe itself, so that sorts that...I think.

Baldur.err didn't have anything in it except for the label lines that say logging session started. I do have baldur.ini edited appropriately, as I always do :)

That appears to be the answer, then. I was hoping not to further complicate an already well-loaded installation by skipping the scrollable mage spell component. So, I'll have to install that. Thank goodness for backup folders ;)

Thanks,
Eric

Installed the components for mage and priest spells from TobEx. Still getting CTD right after selecting skills with new characters. This happens the same whether I'm booted into Mac OS X or OS 9.

I'll see about disabling the feature in tobex.ini.

What more can be done for this?
Thanks,
Eric

I think Ascension64 recommended installing all components of the previous version (v7) of TobEx. But I'm also pretty sure he said somewhere "TobEx probably won't work on a Mac."

The strange thing is that I've seen the scrollable kit selection component work perfectly before, under OS X, while in the process of installing things during a previous install run, but now I'm encountering errors. Looks like I should probably eliminate TobEx, at least until and unless a Mac version becomes available.

Thanks,
Eric

It also doesn't appear to make any difference what components are enabled or disabled in the .ini file. I don't think that's being read. How does it normally get accessed? I wonder if there's another way to enable or disable the same features.

Might want to ask in one of the TobEx threads. I don't know much about how it works.
