I have the Spellhold Gauntlet mod.. it worked the first time and Irenicus spawned immediately.. but my char died during the Bhaal dream fight.. so I reloaded the game.. but then.. no Irenicus spawn..so how do I solve that.. I walked round and round the prison but can't find him, only can find the portal to the Underdark and some rogue gems.. What do I have to do? Do I have to reload an old savegame? My backup savegame is before I left for Brynnlaw.

Where was your Reloaded Game ? If it was in Spellhold (Prison) area, and you have the relevant Spellhold Gauntlet component installed when you entered, he should still be there.

Edit : if you have not got past the dream, it should under no circumstance allow you to reach the portal to the Underdark o.O

Yes, my quicksave is in the Prison area. But he doesn't spawn immediately after I reloaded..

You'll need to see if the variables are set as follows
Global("createdJon","AR1515",0)
Global("Z#QuickJon","AR1515",0)
Global("AsylumPlot","GLOBAL",18)
This will cause Irenicus to spawn in.

But really, if this condition isn't true, either you entered by means of the Wardstone, or Irenicus *should* already have been spawned in the place.

Alternatively, you can spawn him in yourself and ensure the following.
SetGlobal("createdJon","AR1515",1)
SetGlobal("Z#QuickJon","AR1515",1)
SetGlobal("AsylumPlot","GLOBAL",19)
SetGlobal("onlyOnce","AR1515",1)
CreateCreature("ppireni2")

Take note to spawn him where you can see him :)

Tyvm. Btw, where do I see the variables? which file to check?
For the alternative method, I can use the CLUAConsole, right?

yep you can check them using either Shadowkeeper on your Saved Game, or using
CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("createdJon","AR1515")
and
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("createdJon","AR1515",1)

I was kinda free yesterday so I opened my backup file and replayed Brynnlaw. Jon Irenicus didn't spawn when I got to the prison, though. But I found him around the corner, and he just cast MELF'S ACID ARROW on CHARNAME, it was kinda funny. I clicked on him to talk to him, then only after that, he started speaking, and the whole dialogue kicked in. Really funny!

But still, kinda odd..

Just so you know, Spellhold Gauntlet causes him to do exactly that, just spawn round the corner to where you are when Lonk frees you from the cell, past Imoen and Dradeel at the end of the whole set of rooms. He (should) never spawn in front of you.

The component only works when you go in by pretending to be mad.

Apart from the odd Acid Arrow, lol, I would venture that he always spawned there and the mod is working as it should?

PS : can someone move this topic to Spellhold Gauntlet?

Originally, the 1st time I played, he spawned the place u mentioned, where Lonk the Sane frees CHARNAME. i.e., next to Aphril. But when I replayed, he spawned somewhere else: The big space away from the cells. I don't know why.

Actually, the Spellhold Gauntlet component would never have him spawn anywhere near Lonk the Sane / Aphril.
He should actually be spawning near the Fireplace section, at the very end of the passageway.
It would be as if you had taken a tour from the entrance of Spellhold Prison all the way to the end, and he would be at the very end. I gather this is the same place you mean by "the big space away from the cells".

OH. Yup, he spawns near the fireplace. :) So I managed to get Imoen's words in the journal as well.
So the part about him spawning in front of Lonk and beside Aphril is the original part of the game and not modded?
I can't remember the last time I played it unmodded. I haven't played/touched BGII for years, since I went for my diploma. I'm playing now to 'keep up with times'. LOL.
The Gauntlet challenge is hard. Is it meant for hardcore players?

The Gauntlet "should be" easy if you have a decently levelled party, I figure a party with about 0.8 million XP and with some decent gear should do fine.

To be honest though, a lot depends on the waves and your party composition. That said, if you're heavily dependent on spellcasting / spellcasters to do damage, you're probably in for a rough ride unless you move your tanks and most of the baddies in the middle and use AoEs. Even then you'll probably run out of spells midway.

For eg.
- Other than my solo games, Beholder waves are usually a tough mess, because there's usually limited room to avoid them
- Turn Undead with Clerics makes Undead and Vampire waves a joke.
- If you have no strong Cleric, keep out of sight of the Lich(es) and get rid of the undead before going for the Lich. good thing by then his Mantle / protection spells are usually spent too :)
- Umber Hulk waves are a joke. Its pretty much free XP with the gear you should have.
- So are Vampire Waves. If you could deal with Bodhi's Lair in Chapter 3, they're generally a joke, though the blows may add up
- Golem Waves are largely a joke if you use some cheesy tactics. Hint - Golem can't see invisible, and Thieves and Rangers can stealth at will...
- Demon waves are few in number, so they're easy to manage. Plus some of them actually ATTACK each other :) If you're not in sight, that is.

The monsters generally appear such that they come from 3 directions. This gives you one corridor to "retreat" into. From then on, there is a random timer that causes another few monsters to appear inside the empty corridor that you retreat to. This can be hairy without knowing what is happening, suggest you clear one of the 3 filled corridors as soon as possible, and retreat into it. This saves you the trouble of being backstabbed.

Oh and FYI, I have NEVER cleared the Ultimate Challenge without using HLAs, unless I'm on a Solo. If you find the normal challenges hard, I strongly suggest not doing it. Though the good thing is that AC doesn't count.

PS : Can a moderator move this topic to Spellhold Gauntlet forum? Thank you.
