Hi there everyone. I appreciate very much the work that have done on this project, however I have faced some troubles with the multiplayer.
Neither players just can't connect to me if I'm hosting the game, neither I can't connect to anybody. Both I and my friend have the same BGT 1.8 installed with same mods(BG1 Unfinished Business v.9, Unfinished Business v.18, BG2 Tweaks v.8, BGT Tweak v.9 and Thalantyr Item Upgrade) and default settings(tried to turn gamespy on/off, though), they all was in one package, so the install order must be the same too. We were trying the connections both through standard windows VPN tool and Hamachi, with the same result - the client types down server's external IP adress and then password if it was set ( that's important - if there was no connection at all, the game will never (or always) ask for the password. In my case, it asks only if it's enabled on server side). Then PC thinking for some time and finally says sort of "cannot connect to server". So the question is - what's wrong?
Can't wait to hear your answers ^_^

ps: sorry for my english, if there are any problems with understanding the post.

Are you running BG2 in Windowed mode in both computers? That's the problem #1.

I am connected through the router, both my and my routers IPs are local, my friend connected to the provider directly and have dynamic global IP. After establishing a VPN connection between us we can see each other, ping is alright, there are no problems here. Maybe port forwarding on router can help, but I don't know which ports do BG use. Besides it if the port was closed, the game will be unable to check are the password enabled/disabled on the other side, so I doubt that it's a routers fault.

You was right about windowed mode, but enabling fullscreen on both sides didn't help. =(

No, I mean that you need to run BG2 in windowed mode, because fullscreen causes incompatibility with multiplayer.

Ouch.
Well, it's not working neither in fullscreen nor in window.
Just installed 1.10 without mods - exactly same result.
I am frustrated.

Look here - http://forums.biowar...260571&forum=11

Or try this.

Steps:

1

Is your computer on some sort of network? If you answer NO and your computer is directly connected to the internet then continue to the next step. Otherwise, you will need to do the following:

If you answered yes to the previous step then you need to get your local IP. To do so, open a command prompt (Start Menu -> Run -> (Type: ?cmd? and click ?OK?)).
After that, you have to do what is called ?Port forwarding?. If you are on a bigger network and you can?t mess with the actual configurations, then contact your network administrator and ask them to do the following:
Go to http://portforward.com/ and click on the router your are using
In the list of games, select : Baldurs Gate I and II
Follow the instructions there: if it says you can?t open that many ports (2300 to 2400, 6073) and you must do a DMZ, do some research with Google on: how to create a DMZ to your computer (If you try to do a DMZ, it's strongly suggested that you do some research on ?What is a DMZ?).
When everything is done, you must now get your external IP address. To do that, go on web sites that shows you your external IP address.

2

Make sure every player who wants to play with you has done the same previous steps.

3

Open Baldur?s gate 2, go to ?Multiplayer?, go to ?Connect? and choose the TCP/IP protocol (very important).

4

You or one of your friend must create a game and the others can connect to him by typing his (not your) external IP when prompted to do so at the ?Join game? window.

I mean that you need to run BG2 in windowed mode, because fullscreen causes incompatibility with multiplayer.

Well, I am able to play in the Full Screen mode, because I just exit the game screen after I begin the multiplayer session when it 'stalls', with the Windows -key(or Alt + Tab), end the window that just popped up (Windows firewall or whatever the cheese program is) so I can allow the conection, and then the conection with the TCP/IP protocol is enabled... as I go back into the game screen. Easy?

Just installed 1.10 without mods - exactly same result.

Before you try in modified game, try in the normal game, so you know where the problem is... if it makes difference, in this case it shouldn't.

-ModMaker- yep, i already tried this sort of thing. Nothing changed. I think it's because of my router's local IP (looks like global IPs on both sides are necessary for directplay7 games) , I think buying the global IP option from my provider should solve my problems. I'll try this out soon.
Jarno Mikkola we tried with fully clear bg1 installations it just stuck forever on the loading screen after the client press join button.

I have had such problem until i did not unplugged my internet cabel from router (LAN mode only). And with these circumstances BGT finally joined the LAN game without black screen.

After buying a global IP and setting up a correct port forwarding on a router all works fine. Thanks for help. 8)
