Well, one way to check is to CLUA in one of the listed items (particularly some of the "messier" ones) and see if you can see the tooltip text for each of the abilities (melee, ranged, and multiple magic abilities usually) while equipped

I can't see any text. I don't even know where I should see those texts...

Besides; the sorcerer's shield has some problems with recharging... The Item Recharges? field in NI says unknown(0) instead of "after resting"

I think he meant CLUA the item and equip it. You see the item in your weapon slot and drag your cursor over and we want it to say what we are expecting but maybe it doesn't. For items with casting abilities, those are in your backback icon and you see the spells and similar things. Drag the mouse over and it should say what we want it to. If things are wrong, the tooltip.2da is chunked.

When I tested TDD with CTB with the new code (via Miloch) the items seemed to work as intended, unlike before it. To my knowledge with TDD et al, the previous code actually fooled WeiDU to install the stupid mod without errors regarding the tooltip column and row appending; not create the all-time "supadupa" functional 2da file.

However, RoT is on my list to start bugfixing and release an update and this is another that used the old "fool WeiDU" tactic. I will run through SOS and TS-BP to double check them as they have a small update coming, too.

I just see the item's name everywhere, on the Item Abilities too: there's the shield icon but it just says "buckler... whatever".

But that happens with all item abilities, of any item, and already happened before those three lines were appended by BP. Anyway, when I cast them, the right thing happens; the only problem is that it doesn't recharge.

Anyway, that shield comes from BP, so it's a BP bug if it doesn't recharge

The item recharge problem is the item file itself. Some tooltips aren't specific as they might just say the name of the item for everything, whereas others have 6 or 7 abilities and I used to have to use the icon to know what it was going to do whereas the tooltip said something else. The Libram of Desmondel (sp?) from Check the Bodies has the most abilities I think and it was confusing when the tooltip didn't work but possible to decipher what the abilities were form the icon.

Eh, not sure what shield you're talking about, or what it has to do with tooltip.2da (or indeed, Shar-Teel which was the original post :P) but if you think are reasonably certain it's a BP bug (not a false one this time :P) then best to post it in the BP forum. Otherwise, whoever's working on BP surely will lose sight of it.

As for tooltip.2da, it probably doesn't work because it has extra headings halfway down the table and differing numbers of columns. It really shouldn't need 6 columns - it looks like only 1 item from NTotSC uses all those (for what, I can't possibly say, as most items will only have the tooltips I mentioned: melee, ranged, magic - *possibly* 2 of the latter but more than that is a bit much). So it needs to be formatted correctly, which should be achievable via the methods I mentioned above. As Hoppy says, tooltips only determine the text when you hover your cursor over the item ability - it shouldn't affect other things.
