Hi again, guys.

Yesterday I finished installing Big World for the first time. Today I tried to modify some things in the new installation and messed everything. Now, I tried to reinstall it again.
The annoying problem is: Big World Setup don't recognize that I ALREADY downloaded all the content (in fact, IT already downloaded everything) in a folder and it keeps complaining that not all packages are there. I can't download half of the entire installation every time I want to reinstall the game with my modifications (just the IA*.* is more than 1Gb).
How can I make Big World Setup recognize all the packages ? I am using the recommended installation and all the files were downloaded 2 days ago.
This is a list of the packages that I already have and it didn't recognize:

BiG World Project (BWP) v9.2 (Translations and sounds)
BiG World Installpack v9.2
BiG World Fixpack (Beta) v9.2
BiG World Trimpack v9.1.1
BG1 Missing Files v2 (Translations and sounds)
Item Revisions v2
Baldur's Gate Trilogy (08 May 10) v1.09
Beregost Crash Fixer (Utility) v1.8b
Restored Textscreen Music (TxtMusic) v7b
Ajantis BG1 Expansion v3
Gavin NPC v7
BG1 Unfinished Business (BG1UB) v12
Adalon's Blood - Silberdrachenblut v10
Tower of Deception (ToD) v3.3.1
Assassinations v8
Tales of the Deep Gardens v5.0
Kivan and Deheriana Companions v12
Auren Aseph NPC v7.2
Sarah NPC v3.1
Angelo NPC v4
Haldamir NPC v2
Gavin NPC for BG2 v16
de' Arnise Romance v3
Banter Packs v12
Imoen Friendship v1.0
Unfinished Business (UB for BG2) v19
Homeward Bound v7
Alternatives v7
Crossmod Banter Pack (BG2) v13
Rogue Rebalancing (RR) v4.37
BG2 Tweak Pack (BG2 Tweaks) v9
Throne of Bhaal Refinements v3.23
Item Pack v1.3
aTweaks v3.11
Infinity Animations Core (WeiDU-Beta) v5
IA Content 001 - Base Content v5
IA Content 002 - IWDII and unused BGII Animations v4
IA Content - IWD Belhifet and Marilith v2
IA Content - Shadows, Harpy and Frost Giant v2
IA Content - WoRm's NWN Ports and Alternate Modron v3
IA Content - Remaining IWD Animations v3
IA Content - BG2 Restores v2
IA Content - Fiends and Genies v6
IA Content - PST Abishai v2
IA Content - Moinesse's Avatar Edits (IA compatible version) v1
IA Content - PST Paletted Animations v2
Throne of Bhaal Extender (Beta) v0006

Can someone shed some light in subject for me ?

Okay, I think this may be a serious bug; if fact, I don't think this is a bug, I think it is a software specification problem.
The tool assumes that internet is available; The file comparison is based first on changes on the link than in the size (but it have to download it again to compare the size). It means that if the link for the file changed it WILL re-download it. It don't check the new link file size against the one you already have. Also, if the script is executed offline, it messes half of the links to the files.
Any workarounds ?

I can confirm that. BWS also doesn't download all the mods. When I noticed that, I decided not to use the BWS at all, but to download the mods using this list (the forum is German, but the link list is multilingual), unpack them manually and then use the batch installer (BiG World Install.bat). That worked perfectly. The linked list has 99% of the mods correctly, even though it's slightly outdated (9.1).

Well, there's BiG World**** v9.3 available, so if the links got updated in the middle of your setup-install process, because the BWS autoupdates itself when it's started, the old files were downloaded and so you have the old files, you need the new files for the latest install order to still hold true...

It happens as well if you use BWS twice in a row, so version problems can't be the reason.

Well, I can't tell you what was going on exactly since the BWS does not log which size was expected and which was found by looking at the URL. That might be a good idea which can be added easily.
You might find out something by looking at the BiG World Setup\Log-files for downloads.

Since you already downloaded the files, I suggest you have a look at the BiG World Installpack. It contains some additional batch-files, e.g. to extract files. I could tell you how to edit the Config-files of the BWS to do that, but I'm currently not at home so you'd have to wait until the weekend. Using that batch to extract and then the BiG World Install.bat to install the mods should have the same result as using the BWS since it starts this batch later.

Yesterday I finally finished installing BGT - Recommended Pack. The tool itself was the biggest issue. I've done everything manually and although took more time, it went flawless on the first try. The documentation, by the way, is nicely accurate!
Also, I found another small bug in that it don't update the Big World Install.bat script with the BG1 location, as it says. It has to be done manually.
The idea for the tool is very nice and maybe the best way to do it in the future, but as it is right now, it is far too unreliable; it don't work even for the most basic installation.

Thanks for the help guys,
Amid

My experience exactly (with manually, I assume you did the download and unpacking manually, not the actual mod installation - BWS doesn't work as it should, but "BiG World Install.bat" does, if you edit the directory names as needed)

The documentation, by the way, is nicely accurate!

Don't depend on the installed/uninstalled marks of the mod components too much. I've found a few instances where "BiG World Install.bat" and the documentation don't match. Still about 99% correct - no mean feat for a document of that size and complexity.

Yesterday I finally managed to make the setup work and all the mods installed. However, I've had several encounters with characters who only speak in German. I selected English as my language but I've encountered a group of 2 fighter and a mage in Belgerosh, a lady with a werewolf in her house at High Hedge and a dward that spoke to me in Castlekeep and Friendly Inn. How did this happen and how can it be fixed?

Check if you selected SL/TL/EL during the batch-install when selecting the version.
If you did, you got to know the mod that caused that.
Then look for the tra.txt-file in the BiG World Installpack/tmp-folder.
Look for the mods setup and check if it has the correct translation-number and the correct letter.
(N = Native, E = English (If English is not native) and F = Foreign)

Check your weidu log and see if you installed Ascalon's Breagar or AC quest pack.  I think the encounters your described are AC quest pack which is only in German.
There are 10 types of people in this world.
Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Really? That's a shame, they seem to be interesting quests. I'll double check the log. Thanks!

Hello all, been playing through the tactics version of the BWS install with no foreign language mods installed. So far I've been encountering the same issue as the others concerning the german dialogue. I think I may have found a foreign language mod that was installed that might have been causing the issue:

Jarls BGT Tweaks: JA#BGT_Tweak.

I did what you said dabus and I found this line in my tra.txt file:

JA#BGT_Tweak=0 F

I've attached the weidu log and tra file.

Thanks, this tool has really progressed in the last few years. Appreciate all the hard work!

Component 23 should not have been installed and it adds some German sounds to NPC.
At least that's what the pdf / batch tell.

So I ended up in the apparently same situation with the German language installed for Ascalon's Questpack... sadly I do not speak German, what would be the easiest way to remove it?

Jarl's BG Adventure Pack is what you installed. Unfortunately, afaik these strings (guards' dialogue) were not translated at all. Don't worry, they don't have any quests or important info - if Textpack is working correctly (and it should) you'll still see all the relevant contenent of this cool mod in English (German stuff is awesome in general :) , and mods aren't excepted from that rule). If a mage, a halfling and one more character give you a riddle in English upon arriving in Beregost ("how much money is left"), Adventure Pack will work fine. If not, something is screwing your installation...just so you know - Adventure pack changes the main game plot so if you don't have translation or speak German then you won't be able to finish BG1.... (ofc, you can use dictionary but that's highly unpractical). GL.
