What is new to BWP 9.3?

removed:
Experience Corrections, Enable conversations with charmed/dominated creatures

added:
Innershade

moved:
Rukrakia

moved behind Item Revisions:
Thrown Hammers

moved behind Aurora:
Ding0 Experience Fixer = DEFJAM XP, BP-Balancer-v0.33b

Daulmakanís Item Pack MOD no longer splitted in two parts

-------------------------------

During the whole installation procedure there is only one error:

SCSII component 6130 Improved Vampires
ERROR: cannot convert %hp_min% or %%hp_min%% to an integer
ERROR: [#VVAMP1.CRE] -> [OVERRIDE/#VVAMP1.CRE] Patching Failed (COPY) (Not_found)
This maybe caused by the Devin mod. I have to look into it.

There is no parse error at all.

the only warnings are as always:

Big Picture
WARNING: cannot find block matching [BPv180/SNIP/oFLAYUN.BCS]
(This comes from the mindflayers that are already changed by questpack)

WARNING: cannot find block matching [BPv180/SNIP/oVAMPIR1.bcs]

SCSII component 5041 "Priests use spells from BG1 and BG2; priests do not pre-buff"
WARNING: ADD_CRE_ITEM: Could not find empty inventory slot. Defaulting to INV16.

SCSII component 6010 "Better calls for help"
WARNING: cannot find block matching [scsII/help/scripts/gpmage_asc.baf]

-------------------------------

I have revised my install.bat. All the messages are now moved into several language folders. So if someone wants to translate these messages into his/her native language it is much more easier. Best of all: you don't have to struggle with the DOS character set! You can also read foreign codepages such as Cyrillic or Korean in the DOS window!

If anyone wants to translate the install.bat please contact me by private message

-------------------------------

I am open for further suggestions.

Enable conversations with charmed/dominated creatures

Why You had removed this item?

Why You had removed this item?

"Same but better" is already in the ToB Extender. Note that the two mods are made by the same programmer, so he would know... and I am quite sure that he was saying about it somewhere.

Question, why is the ToB Extender indicated as being "beta 0004" in the BiG World v9.3 english.pdf's last page, the latest is beta 0006 ? Yes, it's all semantics... but did someone just cheathack and slashed/copy-pasted the list together ?
Yes, someone actually reads the last page first too.

A few more warnings to report:

Several of this type during decoding of sound files of The Longer Road:
Warning: 2 coefficients were truncated. Max. truncated value: -33406

This one when installing the component "Nazariel the Lich" of Ding0's Quest Pack:
[action list near line 2246, column 2 of viconij.dlg] PARSE WARNING at line 2252 column 1-19
Near Text: )
[Shout] argument [INCOMING_111] not found in [SHOUTIDS.IDS]

Apart from that, only the failed installs I posted as a separate topic.

WARNING: ADD_CRE_ITEM: Could not find empty inventory slot. Defaulting to INV16.

SCS II Debug should hopefully mention the file name of the NPC in question. There's probably a creature where all 16 inventory slots are filled.

WARNING: cannot find block matching [scsII/help/scripts/gpmage_asc.baf]

I guess that Horred did rewrite those ascensions scripts. If an existing block gets replaced and another mod - SCS II in this instance - also tries to replace that script block with its own code, it's no suprise that it can't find anything to replace.

While I was checking the other problem (probable solution in the other thread), I've noticed that BiG_World_Install repeatedly copies a standard BiG_World_Fixpack version of stats.ids into the override directory. I wonder what that will do to my game. Doesn't look like something one should do. Why do you do that?

It does it because some mods need a full-fledged id-file but other mods don't patch it but copy over a version shipped with them. At least I remember reading that some time ago.

Doesn't matter, works fine (music from LotR), I tested them months ago.

%IFES%UB%IFNIF%BPv180%IFNIF%turnabout%IFNIF%#!yoshi%S%UB%L%0%SK% 24 --logapp | %M%
%IFES%UB%IFNIF%BPv180%IFNIF%turnabout%IFNIF%#!yoshi%S%UB%L%3%SK% 24 --logapp | %M%
%IFES%UB%IFNIF%BPv180%IFNIF%turnabout%IFNIF%#!yoshi%S%UB%L%4%SK% 24 --logapp | %M%
Most likely nobody will have this condition, but this will install 24 3 times when using English translations and do nothing for others. Should be:

So, here's my installation report. I did not install all mods and made several adjustments to the installation file, mostly to reduce the effects of incompatibilities and reduce the difficulty of some Tactics components.

A. Setup

-BWP Version: 9.3 (all mods in the versions referred to in the guide)
-Language: English
-Expert Setting
-No group exclusions
-BGT Installation
-SCS-only AI
-Full Plate and Packing Steel armor rules
-Widescreen: 1920x1200

B. Not installed (selected manually, not by BWP option) mods

Mods not in English except those with no in-game text

-Lost Crossroads Spell Pack (only IWD Castings graphics and sounds installed) (Chapter 19)
-Throne of Bhaal Revisited (component 5 skipped - LR incompatibility) (Chapter 20)
-Zyraen's Miscellaneous Mods (Chapter 24)
-Lvl1 NPCs (Chapter 26)

Chapter 3: all
Chapter 4: Region of Terror (I hate Drizzt)
Chapter 6: Drizzt Saga

Chapter 20: Tactics
Chapter 21: Yikari, Gibberlings Three Anniversary, Sarevok Romance
Chapter 22: Ashey of Embers, Divine Remix (this hurts, but I don't want to compromise Refinements and Spell Revisions)
Chapter 23: all
Chapter 24: Unique Artifacts, Bard Song Switching, Relationship
Chapter 26: W-GUI

C. Errors and warnings in Big World Fixpack:

Several of these:
"Hunk #1 FAILED at 2.
1 out of 3 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to Setup-CtB.tp2.rej"
Cosmetic: tries to insert "BWP Fix" comment but can't find the text to be substituted because Big World Trimpack has already changed it.

D. Errors and warnings in Big World Install:

-(TDD or The Secret of Bone Hill) AND
-(BP with no AI enhancement and BP-Ascension with all subcomponents)
Then "Improved Demogorgon", "Improved Illasera", "Improved Yaga-Shura" and "Improved Gromnir" will not install due to a bug in Setup-BPv180.tp2 (see this thread for a quick-fix).

Warnings:
-BGT:

Ok.. I have played BG many years ago, and did use several mods, and am now coming back to the game. I am very excited about BWP but have a noob queston - where (in this thread or otherwise) do I go to get this latest 9.3 version? I do not see any download link - I can only find that in the 9.0 thread. Also, is there a home page where all the versions are listed, etc.? Thanks tons in advance for any help!

Well, you don't... you'll be going to get the BWS, which is a setup tool that uses the BWP info...

Or you can go here and download them and everything else individually... but I strongly suggest that you use the BWS. And the "Further customization of your mod-settings" in it.

Ok.. having actually started the install, I see that it auto-updates. Very slick install.

And wow, very fast reply to my question - thanks kindly for your effort on this amazing project. I am downloading the mods now (automatically, via the BWP install process!). Woohoo!

Ack! I started downlods - then, when attempting to move the dialog box containing the downloads, I clicked on the text "The Big World" and the install/download screen was replaced with other stages of the install - and I can not get back to the download (at least not obviously!) - how do I get back to downloads and do I need to restart them? Thanks!

Greetings.

Please bear with me as I'm still learning and forgive my sometimes silly questions.

In the BWP 9.0 OP, Leomar suggests to install BG1 & TotSC in "C:\Games\Baldur's Gate" and BG2 & ToB in "C:\Games\BGII-SoA.

So I created a "Games" folder in drive "C:" and installed BG1, but BG1 was installed in "C:\Games\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate". I made the mistake of not deleting the "Black Isle" part during the install dialog. Is it safe to cut & paste the "Baldur's Gate" folder out of the "Black Isle" folder and into the "Games" folder (and then erase "Black Isle")? Could I then install TotSC into "C:\Games\Baldur's Gate" without problems?

Also, in Jarno's FAQ for the Megamodes there is an image of the BWS dialog box showing the directory for BGII-SoA being "C:\BWP\BGII-SoA".

Where is the optimal place to install BG1 & BG2 (w/their expansions)?

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to mention I'm running 32bit Vista SP2.

Anywhere if you run an OS up to XP.
Anywhere except the default program files-path if you run vista/7.
If you know how to disable UAC and run stuff as an admin, I guess it's anywhere again.

Thanks for the swift reply, dabus.

I'll install TotSC in "C:\Games\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate."

EDIT: The installation when fine, but at the end I was prompted three times:

1) Install Roger Wilco
2) Convert saved games to mission pack
3) Install DirectX 6.01

I answered NO to all three -- was I correct in doing so?
