I am a new user and it's the first time I'm trying these (suppose to be) very cool enhancements (mods).
I'm very excited
I have a problem though-
I've launched Big World Setup.vbs and did as instructed in the installation instructions by Leomar (http://www.shsforums...project-bwp-v90)
It all went fine, the BigWorldInstall.bat automatically started, I went through all the options I was asked to put, and it worked for a couple of hours.
When I came back to check it out it was in a loop of "Invalid Directory Name". I left it there for some good several hours- but nothing happened.
I tried it three times, I even deleted the whole BG folder from c:\ and made the whole process again.
What do I do now?
Is there a program that can uninstall the megamod so I can start over clean?
I'm not really good with programming stuff, I just like BG...
Pls help
Thnx

The BiG World Debug.txt should tell you what it was.
Was a mod installed at all?
Have a look at the WeiDU.log and tell us.
If not it might loop while replacing the WeiDU-setups or patching some mods.
Please tell us the directory-name of your BG2-installation and which Operating System you use.
You can try to run the BiG World Setup.vbs again, enable the customize-checkbox go to the next screen and select to restore your installation.

Well, it would be helpful if you could tell us what was displayed on the screen.
The BiG World Debug.txt should tell you what it was.

Hi...
Thanks,
The WeiDu.log is blank... :-(
I use Win 7 as OS and I installed my BW in- C:\BG\BGII - SoA
I'll try run BWS.vbs again as you recomended.
A friend says that because I've deleted the program (BW) before, without uninstalling it (I didnt know how) there might be some stuff in the registry or all over the place
He says I should find a program that uninstalls it before trying to re-install it...
Any idea where I could find it?
thanks

We need the C:\BG\BGII - SoA\BiG World Debug.txt.
You don't have any files left from the BiG World if you delete the BiG World - folders inside your BG2-folder.
There are no registry entries. There is also no need for registry-settings to play the game if you use BGMain.exe for starting the game instead of the baldur.exe-laucher.
If you deleted the folder with the BWS-folder & it's folder for the BG2 backup, restoring might not work.
You might as well delete the override, bgmain.exe, chitin.key, dialog.tlk from your bg2-folder and replace them with the files from your C:\BG\BGII - SoA\BiG World Clean Install-folder. (If it still exists)
You will also have to delete the mod-files on your own.

Well, the BWS ask if you wish to make a backup, and if you agree, you can then just re-run the Big World Setup.vbs after the installation is interrupted, it will clear out the previous install after the downloads are rechecked and then it will proceed into the re-extracting the mod files from a clean install... so you don't have to uninstall a thing. But if you wish to remove the BWS, you can do that by uninstalling the BG2 game from the control panel, and then you have to delete the install folder, so it's reusable.A friend says that because I've deleted the program (BW) before, without uninstalling it (I didnt know how) there might be some stuff in the registry or all over the place

We need the C:\BG\BGII - SoA\BiG World Debug.txt.
Hmm... I can't seem to find this file in the current name, type and folder.
If you deleted the folder with the BWS-folder & it's folder for the BG2 backup, restoring might not work.
I'm sorry for the confusion- I deleted all the folder couple of days ago and started from the begining (installing BG1+2 etc...) yesterday, so I was still able to run the restore.
I'm doing it know, so I'll know soon enough if it's working or not.
You might as well delete the override, bgmain.exe, chitin.key, dialog.tlk from your bg2-folder and replace them with the files from your C:\BG\BGII - SoA\BiG World Clean Install-folder. (If it still exists)
You will also have to delete the mod-files on your own.
Should I go through that as well?
Thanks for all your help guys...

Well, if the BWS is able to restore the install, you do not need to do that.Should I go through that as well?
This is why the thread placement is essential, Dabus for example doesn't look into the other forums. :crazy smile with a wink:Thanks for all your help guys...

¹ Cannot proceed installation without this essential mod.
Some files were not extracted.
Do you want to open the files in your default-packager to try it yourself?
(Look at the notes in the help-text on the right side.)
Enter [y]es or [n]o.
It won't let me extract them myself. The problem as you can see is that the first five mods are crucial, and I suppose to have them (they worked in the first install)
Should I delete everything and start over?

Yes, because the BWS wishes to know what you'll wish to do next, so when the BWS window is active, just push Y and then push the "Send entered text" button that above the Continue button. It won't let me extract them myself. Well, then you just have to download them yourself from here...Please fetch the files that are marked as essential first.
Aborting the installation.
Or if that doesn't work, wait until the BWS is updated to the next minor version... as the patching and tagging may take a bit of update time.

If you look at the BWS-debug-files you uploaded before, you can see that all files were downloaded expect two files which can be explained. So the download itself is working.
The extraction does not work since there are some processes running wild. Stop the BWS, open the taskmanager and kill the running Setup-XYZ.exe files. Then go to C:\BG\BGII - SoA\NSIS and move all files from there to C:\BG\BGII - SoA.
Then create some fake TP2-files for BWFixpack, BWTrimpack, BWInstallpack, WeiDU, BeregostCF, PCSoundsets. Name them Setup-XYZ.tp2 and add these two lines:
BACKUP ~override~ AUTHOR ~dummy@mail.de~
This way the BWS will accept the check for these packages. Make sure that you actually got some folder and batch-files named BiG World Installpack, Fixpack and WeiDU in your BG2-folder.
Then restart the BWS.
This should solve most of your "missing mods"-messages.

Dearest dabus
Your help came three minutes late for me, as I deleted all folders after uninstalling both games...
My Karma... lol
I've saved this thread on my browser for next weekend, when I'll try again...
In the mean time, thank you very much.
