A few weeks ago I installed BGT-WeiDU with the BiG World mod and dozens of associated mods, then started playing Baldur's Gate and enjoyed myself immensely.

Today, I finished Baldur's Gate, and after killing Sarevok, went back to the Duchal Palace and spoke to Duke Belt.  He told me about the mission to Amn and teleported me.  At this point, the game freezes (reliably).  I get the repeated message "party has lost item", then the screen goes blank, then my user interface disappears, leaving a completely black screen.  After about 10 seconds, the bottom right-hand corner of the screen shows up, highlighting a darkened forest area with five or six people standing there, lit by infravision.  All seem to be standing over top of equipment, although it's hard to tell.  They do nothing except make random 'bored' motions.  No buttons I press seem to do anything, and eventually I give up and Ctrl-Alt-Del to get back to my desktop.

What should I do?  I am eager to begin playing the second game, which I have never completed.  Sadly, I seem to be stuck.  Could anyone help?

Have you installed the last version of bgt? It's a problem which has already come out...
could you please post the content of your weidu.log (in spoiler tags)?

You said the forest takes some time to appear, is your game usually slow?

I had this same issue just last night. (I really ought to register)

Anyway, if you leave it for a while, it seems to show you the back end of the sequence then ports you into BG2.

I don't know - I followed the BiG World setup instructions, and assumed everything was up to date.

Sorry for missing the bug report; for some reason Spellhold's search function wasn't working for me, so I scanned the last four or five pages of topics and couldn't see anything related.

Sure. Here you go:

No. It's not the greatest gaming computer, but a game like Baldur's Gate plays quite well most of the time.

Huh. Alright, I'll try again. I waited for about five minutes; this time I'll give it 30 if need be (I have to be away from the computer anyway).

I tried again and came back after 20 minutes, and saw a change. Not sure if it is for the better or not.

The UI was back, the characters were lit up in circles, and there was a dialogue waiting for me: Ajantis was upset that we had given up his family shield (which I'd been keeping in a bag of holding). Imoen was also gone (so I was right - only five characters) and there was all their equipment at their feet.

After re-equipping my party, I searched the area and discovered it was quite small, with no encounters or events. Going to the edge of the area, I found that the game thought I was in the "Baldur's Gate North" area of the map, and Amn was still a greyed out area for me. I was able to travel to Central Baldur's Gate with my party of 5, then back to Baldur's Gate North, where I entered the Duchal Palace and spoke with Duke Belt, who...asked if I was ready to make the trip to Athkatla. I agreed.

Very similar results: I got a black screen, and after ten seconds, my party appeared in the bottom left (minus Imoen). This time around, however, they were wearing their armor and holding their weapons, so they were recognizeable as my party. The UI still stubbornly refused to appear.

I'll go away again and report on what happens next.

I gave up and tried the first piece of advice in the thread linked by Turambar.  I copied the modified ARAM00.BCS into the override directory and tried again.  This time it worked, albeit with a few minor bugs.

Once again the whole screen went black, and after 10 seconds some of my party appeared, on top of their equipment, in the corner.  Then there was a weird cutscene where Shadow Thieves standing on top of bodies menacingly asked what kind of ale there was on tap.  Seriously.  This was followed by the movie that starts BG2, and then I found myself in prison, followed quickly by Candlekeep, which I wasn't expecting.

So, everything seems normal now...more or less.  Thank you for your help!

Some generic bugs that I thought I should report:

1) During the flashback to Candlekeep, one of the monks you can speak to on the first floor tells you that one of the priests is dissecting animals.  This script refers to a doppleganger in BG1.

2) For some reason, the cleric NPC Finch was not removed from my party when I began the flashback.  As a result, if I click on Finch's portrait, I can return to Spellhold (although I can't interact with anything).  The same is true of the Chaotic Neutral wizard/wild mage/sorceror(?) with the pet beholder who offers to join your party at the beginning of the Spellhold sequence.  Both of these are mod NPCs.

3) Although my character could not cast spells or use special abilities at will, he *could* use them by script.  When I woke up in the morning of day 2, my eight-year-old character cast *stoneskin* and *Melf's Minute Meteors*.  This had no effect on the game, but was amusing.

4) Not a bug, but I found milking the cows to be counterintuitive.  After clicking on one cow, I kept clicking on it, assuming that the messages meant I was making progress.  Then, after I finally filled the pail, I turned back to the other cow I had clicked on once and discovered my pail was full - in other words, all my clicking had been in vain, but nothing (seemed?) to tell me in-game.  I also found it very annoying to have to wait for the cows to 'refill', especially on day 2 when I had to milk the cows four times.

5) It would be very cool if choosing to play with Imoen had some sort of advantage to it (perhaps there is, and it is just hidden?), or at least a cutscene that was referred to later in the game when you spoke with Imoen.  Perhaps she could teach you a skill she'd just discovered, giving you a thief-like ability, or showed you something she'd spied on/found/stole, giving you a magical skill?

It's almost too bad this whole flashback wasn't the start of the game, before you even chose a character.  It would be pretty cool to have your alignment, abilities or classes in the game reflect the choices you made here (with the ability to change them at the end of the scene, ala Oblivion/Fallout 3).

1) During the flashback to Candlekeep...

Does that cover the 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5? Cause that has everything to do with the Check the Bodies, and nothing-much to do with the BGT-WeiDU... although you get those with CtB&BGT+other mods. :P

Yes, yes it does.  Sorry about that.  I've never played with *any* mod for BG, so I'm never sure which is which.  I thought it was BGT because of the "dynamic system" that is mentioned repeatedly without any real idea of what is involved (searching online gave me comments like "you'll find out"...).

Sorry about the mispost, and thanks for the mod.

 In that post, it's written that you can get some 'funny text'. When I did that, the thieves were talking about tourism, or some other silly things like that
The problem is that the area contains references to the dialog.tlk file of who uploaded the area, which is different from ours if we have installed other mods in a different order; you can still use NI to open both the old and new one and correct the references...

It hasn't been working for ages, at the end of this post (which I think should be pinned a bit everywhere) you can find how to do that
