Yeah, the problem is that not even Xan can equip the moonbladeXan's moonblade should be equippable only by him, or by a character with pretty much the same stats. If you use an editor (DLTCEP for example) you can see the "usability flags" which are set for only certain classes, races, attributes etc. You have to match those to be able to equip it - same goes for any item.
