Yet another Ultima Total Conversion for Dungeon Siege 1 has reached its "retail" release (Lazarus was the first). The Ultima 6 Project looks particularly good, and since it's free... well, I don't see any reason NOT to try it! The RPGWatch article has all the details:

The Ultima 6 Project has finally left beta and the full v1.0 release is now available. Read about the features, check out some new screens and, of course, grab links to play this incredible game.

About The U6 Project
The Ultima 6 Project was formed in 2001 by Sliding Dragon to develop a remake of Origin's Ultima VI: The False Prophet with newer graphics and a more immersive engine. Soon assembled under the banner Archon, the team members, who hail from all over the globe, have set about recreating the world of Britannia, adding an enhanced storyline to bolster intraseries continuity and building on the Ultima legacy in a way that will please fans new and old.

Sweet. And I was just thinking about firing up the original game too. Guess I'll have to scrounge up a copy of Dungeon Siege. It's nice to see folks still keeping such old classics alive - and some people think BG2 is old :D.

Agreed, and it's even rarer to see Total Conversions actually get finished. :)

Heh, as luck would have it, another fan-made Ultima conversion has been released:

The Ultima 4 Flash Conversion

The source for the remake is Ultima 4: Quest of the Avatar for Apple IIe. All the latest browsers with flash are supported.

Ultima IV: Flash Version is a new and improved version of the classic role-playing game released in 1985. This new version widens the appeal of Richard Garriot's original game and tells the story of The Quest of the Avatar to a younger generation of game players.

Wow, now I have a reason to install Flash too. Might even be outweigh the benefits of not having it (because it's a no-fail ad-blocker when you don't have it :D). That's insane that U4 could be done totally in Flash, but I guess by today's standards it's not that complex.

Maybe you could do links to all the Ultima conversions out there, or link to a page that has them? I seem to recall the U7 conversions were supposed to be good, though I never really got around to any of them. Hell, I never even got around to playing Ultima Underworld II, though that was supposed to be a great game.

Ask and you shall receive: Ultima: Aiera - The Ultimate Ultima One Stop Site

Additional Note: I'm not entirely sure about the legality of all the remakes, and I take no responsibility for any of them, as I'm not affiliated with the developers. The ones for Dungeon Siege 1 have been made with the official toolkit, so they should be considered mods only (known as "Siegelets"), but like said, I can't say for sure.

Cool site. Except for those annoying tags on the right side of the screen that spam up my browser :(.

Yeah, they are a bit annoying, but the site is good enough to put up with them. After all, it has information on almost all known Ultima remakes for any title in the series, and it's up to date as well. :)
