As it says in the title. Do you compulsively click-talk any NPC you can, or completely ignore them? Or something between the two, for that matter.

All the time, heh. I love PID.

Yep, a lot in any case, especially romance/flirt related PID :)

I voted for all the time, but a realistic answer would probably somewhere between it and occasionally. But it really depends on the content a lot. I quickly grew bored with the Flirtpack (I also didn't like it much. I disliked how it told me what my PC was feeling and aside from Viconia I also disagreed with the characterization) but I enjoyed the BG1 NPC's options very much and used it so much that Montaron really should have realized his threat to kill my character.

However, what I really would like to see is more realistic talks with the NPC's. Even in BG1 NPC it felt more like I was a detective questioning a suspect than that I was chatting with a friend/comrade in arms. It would be much more interesting if the dialogue you initiated was a proper dialogue with both sides actively participating in the conversation. It would of course take extra work, but I think it might be worthwhile in the end.

I click until I use up all the options. Sometimes I'll feel like leaving a little for later, but usually not. :)

Yeaaah. I don't use PID when I play, unless I have to test it.

I voted occasionally, but really I'll only do it if the mod's readme tells me that there's a lot of PI content. Otherwise, I'll try all the flirts the once, and then not bother again unless I'm in an interesting place (Underdark, tavern, etc.)

Occasionally.

I can't play with an NPC in the party unless I know that there is PID, but oddly enough, once I know that there is, I'll talk to the NPC a few times and then leave them alone. Unless the NPC has the flirtpack of the gods, in which case I'll flirt with them all the time.

I've gone off PPG's NPC flirt pack because, as an earlier poster comments, it tells your PC what he or she is feeling (and most of the time, it's inaccurate). I also disagree with characterization of the BioWare NPCs, but that isn't a problem you'll have with a mod-added NPC.

If you're thinking about making most of a romance run off of PID, it's an interesting concept. If an NPC is reserved or aloof, it would make sense for the PC to have to take the first steps. But eventually, the NPC had better start reciprocating, initiating dialogues him or herself. Because there's no way I would bring along an NPC that isn't even going to make the effort, especially if there's a romance involved. I would estimate that no more than one-third to half of all lovetalks should be player-initiated. And that's being generous.

(Never mind that we had to do this extensively in NWN2. That was the fault of the way the game engine handles scripts, not a design choice.)

Never.
BG didn't have this feature and was no worse off, so what's the deal if a mod adds it?
I sure did use it in NWNs and KOTORs, since it was an intergral part of the gameplay.

Retired from modding.

Occasionally.

It is mostly just exchanging endearments but I haven?t tried many NPCs yet. I liked the riddles and word plays of the Tashia NPC though.

All the time. Truth be told, I've run through the game so many times PID options help keep me going. If an npc does not have PID options, I'm less likely to take them. I guess I'm on the extreme end of the spectrum, heh.

I have a weakness for clicking everything at least once to see what happens...

Beyond that, I would say it depends on the NPC and so forth, but I try to retain some sense of moderation. ^^

I voted 'occasionally'. It would be truer to say I use it most when I remember it actually exists. Which can mean I'll play for hours without ever doing it, and then suddenly remember and start harassing the poor NPCs repeatedly.

Back from the brink.

Certain mods, like Angelo, Xan or Iylos, and the Sarevok romance mod, have a lot of good PID content - you can ask questions as well as flirt. Actually you *have* to flirt at least twice with Angelo before his romance kicks in.
I do ration myself a bit but I will explore all the options over the course of the game. On the whole I like the PID, if it's done well.

All the time if it's an interesting character, and if it's not an interesting character they're usually not in my group. Naturally there are some people I like who don't have a multitude of PIDs, but it definitely adds a sense of realism to the game for me. And even if it's just minor "chatty" options that loop again and again, it still makes me feel better knowing they're there.

I admit that I actually stress myself out trying to mine all the content out of these things.

PC: "Anything new, Angelo?"
Angelo: "Nope, you made me tell you my life story and the life story of everyone I've ever known the first time we met."
PC: "Oh. Sorry about that... what about now?"
Angelo: *sigh* "Well, I guess I could tell you about some of the Iron Throne guys again, but I'll have to use the exact same wording as before."
PC: *slams enter key repeatedly to end the conversation*
Angelo: "Stop that."
