Alright so I just finished PS:T and I wanted to try out Baldurs gate. I followed the instructions for a Big World Install under recommended and it worked fine. I had 6 gigs on space left afterwards. I play for like 6 hours that night and everything works fine. The next day I wake up and start playing and after about 10 mins or so I get a runtime error, no biggie, so I restarted it back up and it errors and tells me I have no disc space. I look and I have 760 kb space left on my HD I was kinda confused. So I free'd 5 gigs or so and play for another 10 minutes and the exact same thing happens. I checked and my BG II folder is where its going to but I dont know anymore specifically beyond that. Ive done the install cleanup so my folder is currently 24 gigs big. Do I need to make a little bit more space or is there something going on that shouldnt?

If you're using a mega, your game installation really might be 24GB or more. I don't even come close to running a mega-installation and my game directory is ~4GB. Maybe you could ask around and find out how much space the average mega-installation takes up?

Well, I made the biggest(eXpert) install during the 8.x period and it took well over 30 Gb's when it was finally done, just for the game bits, that and the downloads then take even more.

But, but, the BWS only downloads when it's active, so unless you go and kick something else in, no space should be used during the playing of the game except the save game space, and other minor temporary data.

I once had a messed up installation that would play, but constantly added warning messages to the log file. It would indeed grow to several hundred MB in a short time. You might like to check the files in your BG2 main folder, there should not be any file larger than ~14MB (the NWN1 demo video has 14.2MB).

The downloading is done by the process wget.exe and as described, it ended when the BWS stopped waiting for the current download and went on to the next one / did other things.
THINK! - It's not illegal.

There's loads of stuff that can be deleted! Biggest being the gerealized_biffing\prod\ folder ;) You might also wanna delete the infinityanimations\restore\ and infinityanimations\content\ foldes too ... after installing ofc :P

You might like to check the files in your BG2 main folder, there should not be any file larger than ~14MB (the NWN1 demo video has 14.2MB).

The BiG World Debug.txt can go upto 19 MB ... but other than that, there shouldn't be any 15+ MB file :)
