Is Morte not being captured a bug?

led me to believe Morte must be captured
or the game can not be finished correctly.
www.shsforums.net/topic/30605-morte-not-getting-kidnapped/
Quote Midwinter:
"I'm currently playing Planescape for the first time and loving it so far.
I've progressed steadily through Sigil and everything went great, but now I'm stuck in the wards.
I don't like to turn to FAQs and walkthroughs every time I run into a problem,
but after completing almost all quests I could find in both areas, frustration got the the better of me
and now I suspect there's a bug at work. According to all the guides, Morte was supposed to get kidnapped
by wererats when I first entered the lower ward. He wasn't. I can see some wererats standing near the entrance,
but when I click on them, nothing happens."
I have the same exact problem as Midwinter, three years later, and I have the latest patches!
Could I have made this bug happen by running back to the previous area
and then reloading the game to redistribute my inventory?
Should I have exited the game fully and then reloaded
to reset the data instead of just reloading from within the game?
I've played for two weeks since the 'bug', oblivious of any problems.
Can I still play the game as is, or should I start a new game?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

for taking the time to post.
I used an older save point and all is ok.
I'm still curious to know if Morte not being captured
would have shut out advancement in the game.
Oh well, by the time I finish the game I'll be able
to answer my own questions. (I hope)
Till then, it's good to know that the
Spellhold members are there if I need them.
Thank you so much for your time.

I had that happen once in a game I love called Divine Divinty.
Divine Divinity is a fine, beautiful game - although the first dungeon is the worst (and could give the player the impression that it's really just a Diablo'esk Action-RPG). When it was released, D.D. was horribly bugged, I played it with the last official patch (which deactivated the beautiful dusk/dawn lightning). I got no plot stopper bug, but one quest in the beginning doesn't work right. And you shouldn't use the teleport stones or teleporters across different areas - it kills your map. What was you plot stopper bug?

My memories of DD is mainly of the great music
and the enjoyment the game gave to me,
but I do remember having to restart the game at least twice
because I was unable to exit an area or something.
I've played too many games between then and now for me to remember details.
In those days my computer had no internet, so I had no
access to game guides, forums or patches.
Because I had a small HD I overwrote my save games
to save space, so there were no earlier saves to go to. lol
I think I will try to find my game disks and play again one day.
Maybe then I'll remember where I had problems.
I'm going to edit my post so no one thinks DD is a bugged game,
and I intend to give more thought to what I post in the future.
DD will forever hold a warm place in my heart,
even though my memories of it may have faded.
Thanks for reminding me of the power of words HomiSite.

I have this same bug; I didn't really pay any attention to the glitched wererats and just went on playing. So far my problem is that I don't know Ravel's name.. I got all the way to picking up the maze stone thing from the foundry, but I don't know the name Ravel and can't ask anyone about it.
