First off, please bare with me.I am a noob. It's the first time I try to play BG and also the first time I try modding it.

Anyway, I have two problems.

1)TobExLoader crashes right after I double click on it.

2)When I try to run BG from BGMain.exe I get the :Assertion failed in ChSound.cpp at line 4905
When I searched for it, i found a thread saying something about SONGLIST.2DA in the ovveride directory. The problem is that I don't have the SONGLIST.2DA in the ovveride directory. When I search for SONGLIST.2DA, I find a few files but most are in backuo folders. And non has more than 100 entries (if I got that right, that's the problem)

I'm running on Windows 7 ultimate x64.

Searching Big World Debug.txt, I found this
Installing [Full Baldur's Gate/Shadows of Amn/Throne of Bhaal Music (WARNING: patches BGMain.exe)]
Copying and patching 1 file ...
FAILURE:

Automatically Skipping [Full Baldur's Gate/Shadows of Amn/Throne of Bhaal Music (WARNING: patches BGMain.exe)] because of error.
Using Language [English]

Anyway, sorry if it's a stupid question or I don't provide enough info but as I said it's my first attempt at moding so I'm at a loss here :/
Thanks in advance.

, i found a thread saying something about SONGLIST.2DA in the overide directory.

Yeah, but you have already packaged he game files into more faster read format called .bif files... and so the songlist.2da is not in the override folder, what you can do s to go into the generalized_biffing folder, and make a search for the songlist.2da file and see if it's there(it's in a backup folder). Once you find that, you can open it with Notepad, remove the lines above the 99 marker, save the file and put that into the game -folders override -folder. And the game should start...

If the file is not in the generalized_biffing folder, you can just copy one of the other songlist.2da's, check it doesn't have more that 100 lines and put that into the override folder.

It runs! Thanks a lot for the fast reply! I hope the game also works, since I've heard so many about it.
Once again, thank you!

BTW since the TobExLoader doesn't start, how am I supposed to run the game? If I got it right, these mods are supposed to turn BG1 and BG2 into 1 campaign. So, what do I do to go from start to finish in the right order? Or there isn't one? Disregard that, I'm an idiot...

If you won't be able to run TobEx, you'll do fine by running bgmain.exe. You'll miss, obviously, stuff from TobEx (check it's readme for the list), but the rest of the mods will be there for you.

Also, if TobEx for some reason don't work for you, you could try to use TobHacks instead, it might work for you as it operates on a diffirent principles and it also offers quite a number of handy exe hacks as well as TobEx.

@Creepin :Thanks. I thought it was necessary to run BG through the loader to get all the goodies. Since there isn't anything in particular that I want from the loader (what are "kits" anyways?) I think I'll pass. :)

You know mate, if it is your first time playing BG, I wouldn't really try modding it-ok maybe just BGT.The storyline and everything else is very interesting and will bring you a lot of fun, trust me :)

Different kinds of modified base classes like Kensai is a Fighters Kit.

But what mr fantastic says is definitely true.
