Looking at the options available in recent versions of WeiDU, it looks like most of things done by the BGT batch files could be done directly in tp2 files. Either directly, for most of the copying, or by calling WeiDU recursively with '--game $BG1PATH' for extracting files for bifs. The only thing that it does seem possible to do directly is call bg2tis and 'weidu --traify-tlk'. Doing this would seem to make it easier to install on linux.

Any comments on this? Would people be willing to incorporate this if it were implemented?

I don't see why not, but by "people" I think the main person would be Ascension64, who has announced his (semi-)retirement from maintaining BGT, and no one else has stepped in to do it (yet). Might help a bit if you produced the code to be replaced and/or filenames, line numbers where it should be replaced.

Don't mind the lack of enthusiasm, as Miloch tells it very accurately, the BGT-WeiDU today has a sore spot on the future maintenance(and maintainers) updates that still needs filling. The problem is that these is no one that knows this mods parts nearly as well as Ascension64.
But I am will do the most I can, which isn't much, except be a PC beta tester to make sure that the mod still works on this side.

And so you don't want to forget(these are of course tolerable in the beta tests, but not in the final product):
The BGT-WeiDU install process doesn't leave artifacts in the BG1 folder, even if it fails to install at any stage...
And the BGT-WeiDU needs to still be as compatible with other mods as it has been before(and thus there shouldn't be more than a few components, preferably just 1, while the BGT-Tweaks can have the rest). Of course the install can have multiple alternatives(like one where the files are not biffed at all).
And the BGT-WeiDU should use the files in the BG1 directory, even if they are different from the 'one holy' edition someone has, as there's couple and they differ a bit, not much, but a bit(like the creature levels are different on 6CD edition than the 3CD version).

Deactivated account. The user today is known as The Imp.

Linux install can be provided if WeiDU can detect Linux platform and run a set of alternative shell files that do the same thing as the batch files. I am reluctant to do all kinds of AT_NOW things via WeiDU because of logging issues.

The multiple editions of BG1 is a bit of a stickler. Would help to know what exact differences there are between each edition around the globe.

Yes, I am kinda (semi)retired. I can still do some updates, although in very slow time (there are multiple translations for other mods waiting to be incorporated, for example).
