Hey, I'm new here and wasn't sure where to post it so..ta..da.

I have always wanted to do some serious modding with the infinity engine and am at a complete loss on where to start. Mind you I don't know much on modding and am starting from scratch here. Any info at this point would be very much appreciated.

I recommend starting off by visiting the Modder's Resource Center and the IE Modding Tutorials Index. Pick something small, simple, and specific to start with (such as making an item) and then build from there. Depending on what it is you want to do, the modding tools I recommend familiarizing yourself with are DLTCEP and NearInfinity (the two most popular global editors), and PS Gui (for modding primarily with movies and sounds). I'm sure other people will have more helpful advice then what I can offer.... Good Luck and happy modding!

"Ok, I've just about had my FILL of riddle asking, quest assigning, insult throwing, pun hurling, hostage taking, iron mongering, smart-arsed fools, freaks, and felons that continually test my will, mettle, strength, intelligence, and most of all, patience! If you've got a straight answer ANYWHERE in that bent little head of yours, I want to hear it pretty damn quick or I'm going to take a large blunt object roughly the size of Elminster AND his hat, and stuff it lengthwise into a crevice of your being so seldom seen that even the denizens of the nine hells themselves wouldn't touch it with a twenty-foot rusty halberd! Have I MADE myself perfectly CLEAR?!"

One also has to get the mod to 'install itself', and the WeiDU.exe can do that, in the easiest way... as it can modify the dialog.tlk and other resources so the new text is also included in the game the mods were installed to.

Also one needs to do a quick distinction between wanting to modify the game resources... and the other is trying to play a game that has been modified by existing mods...
Yes, this section is used for the 'modify the game resources', but anyway.

-The first of course has to do with creating something unique for other players...
-While the other has to do with playing a unique game where everything is your choise, well, nearly everything, you can't have a jedi-laser sword that cut's people and monsters to two halves, no matter what they are... at least with the currently available mods and animations(you are of course free to make one :P ).
