Hey, I installed BGT and for some reason when I place my custom NPC portraits in the override folder it replaces the small portrait (to the right of the screen), but not the larger one in the main character window. Where do I need to place the larger portraits? thanks

You can place portraits in the override folder, or (even better) in the portraits folder :) When it comes to the BioWare NPCs, make sure the .bmp files are named correctly, and they should show up the way you want on all game screens.

Good luck!

Yea.. I did that and it doesn't work. It only works for the small portrait. I was wondering if the BMPs are named differently in BGT or if I need to put the images somewhere else. I tried putting the images in both the override and the portraits folder.

If my memory is correct, the MEDIUM sized portrait is used and not so much the large one (until epilogue).
No difference that BGT makes to this.

I was naming them according to this: http://portraits.cho...ait_change.html

I know that Tutu has a special naming requirement (i.e. _MOENL.bmp for Imoen) and I assume there's something similar for BGT because I can't get the large portraits to change. IMOENS.bmp in override, however, does give me the small portrait. I just need to know what that special naming requirement it. :)

So you suffixed the file with M.bmp? Just checking. Remember BG2 uses the M portrait and not the L one.

Yea. Here's what I tried for Imoen (not listing IMOENS.bmp because this worked for the small pic).

IMOENL
IMOENM
NIMOENL
NIMOENM
_IMOENL
_IMOENM

Forgot to add

I also tried this for Montaron, with the same (i.e. no) result.

I am having this same problem. I have reached the Friendly Arm Inn, party consists of PC-Imoen-Khalid-Jaheira-Montaron-Xzar

NPC's with custom portraits are Imoen, Khalid, Jaheira, and Xzar

Initially none of their medium size portraits were showing up, but by playing with the names I was able to get Jaheira, Khalid, and Xzar's to show up. I named Jaheira based on her BG2 naming convention, and I changed KHALIDL and XZARL (the way Chosen of Mystra says to do it) to KHALIDM and XZARM. However no matter what I do Imoen does not show up. I tried putting it in the way BG2 does it, nothing. I tried IMOENM what worked for Khalid and Xzar, when I did that there was no portrait shown in the character screen, just the question mark. All the small sidebar portraits are working. Can someone please give me some advice?

In case -anony- is still around, or anyone else has this problem, I found out that for some reason the portrait I made wasn't the right bit depth or something.  I re-formatted my pic and now it is working.  Thank you all for your time.
