A little worried when uninstalling certain mod

Sometimes I really wish this search feature wasn't broken, but will have to make do with just asking.
I'm playing the BWP, Standard, with just Baldur's Gate II installed. Everything is running fine and dandy, until I enter the Copper Coronet where a possible party NPC called "Solestia D'Luna" starts glitching like crazy. Her two companions with her start cloning themselves (eventually it can almost fill the entire room, lol). Worried that this will probably glitch the game, I ran the mod setup ABSolestia to uninstall it, well I did that, but now all of sudden, it's trying to reinstall every other mod I have, and naturally it's giving a slew of "possible errors", so I'm worried to just exit the installation or I'd be completely screwed, so basically the question I have, did I just screw myself out of the game I was playing, and now gotta do a complete reinstall? or is this something that commonly happens, and I should not have to worry about anything if I wanna uninstall a particular mod.
If I am screwed, then so be it, so then the question I have, what's the best method of uninstalling a particular mod, if you know it's the one causing you trouble, without screwing up the rest of your files?
thanks,

If your game was biffed, quite probably. If not, that is the way WeiDU usually does uninstalls so as not to break anything but you would still need to start a new game, or at least use one from before any areas affected by the uninstalled mod.basically the question I have, did I just screw myself out of the game I was playing, and now gotta do a complete reinstall?
There is no good way on BWP-type installs. The best way to deal with it is to report the problem in the mod's forum (if it has one) and hope for a fix from the author or someone else. I have not heard of that mod (usually that prefix is plainab?) - could well be a scripting error (for example using CreateCreature without a variable check to make sure it doesn't loop). If I am screwed, then so be it, so then the question I have, what's the best method of uninstalling a particular mod, if you know it's the one causing you trouble, without screwing up the rest of your files?

Yep, was excited for a second, because everything seemed to work, but then the moment I click on the world map, get a CTD. Sigh.. well time for a 4th re-installation.

Sorry, I'm rather new the modding scene for Baldur's Gate believe it or not, not sure what exactly you mean. Are you saying I can go the "WeiDu" folder and run the program there to reinstall the GEN_BIFF?
Too late now, as I already uninstalled everything (This time I plan to pick only a certain amount of mods, as I do wanna experience this BGT from the start), but it's good to know for future reference.
thank you,

What I mean is, you can run setup-absolestia (or whatnot), uninstall it, wait a couple of hours while it's uninstalling and reinstalling all mods you have, and then the game will be in a valid state (although you should start a new game after doing so).

1. install and bif an insanely huge mega version of a game that dates from the days when a big hard drive was 4 GB
2. have a problem with a mod
3. swear a lot and throw things and wish that someone would make it easier to reinstall
4. swear a lot more and curse the fact that just like everyone else you once again forgot to make a backup of an install, and ignored the BWP backup creation
5. delete everything and start over
to the new days:
1. install and bif an insanely huge mega version of a game that dates from the days when a big hard drive was 4 GB
2. have a problem with a mod
3. check for solution and edit mod files to correct error
4. reinstall mod (gen_bif restores all files to override, weidu rolls everything back to the install point of the mod yiu are reinstalling, then installs everything forward to the end including the gen_bif at the end).
Basically, the equivalent huge generational jump forward in terms of i.e. modding that was going from Non-WeiDU mods to WeiDU mods (a direct analogy, because alll yu could do with old bif methods was delete 'em.)

Well excuuuusssse me! (extra points if you can guess the comedian's voice ). I don't biff, or boff, or whatever (sorry, just don't swing that way). Maybe you should be screaming at the BWP folks because that's been their party line in everything I've seen.I was screaming at Miloch, not you
And yeah, that was my main point. Minor point being it's more helpful to try to bugfix a defective mod rather than just summarily uninstalling it, unless it's truly crap, in which case purging all references to it from your hard drive and then having a hot shower after being tainted by its filth may indeed be the best solution .(although you should start a new game after doing so).

What, so you actually have the time, the ten minutes, to wait for the game to start in Windows after clicking the quick icon till the game actually starts while the computer itself processes the override folder into a readable info? See, the biffing actually cuts that into less than 30 seconds(random number), before the starting movies begin.I don't biff, or boff, or whatever (sorry, just don't swing that way). Maybe you should be screaming at the BWP folks because that's been their party line in everything I've seen.
AND IF IT DOESN'T TAKE 10 minutes, yes even with a yesterdays highend 4 processor computer, the game has been biffed in one point or another... as the original game info is in a .bif files in the data directory/CDs. So biffing today is a must, and why we are using it in the BWS.
The reason why the BWS has the option to make a clean install and it's usually recomended is that uninstalling the Gen_Biff takes a lot of time, and installing it back takes a lot of time... and you'll have to do all that manually.

I'm an equal opportunity screamer.Maybe you should be screaming at the BWP folks because that's been their party line in everything I've seen.
PlainAB is a non-idiot, but Solestia is hosted on a thread at teambg.eu (not even a forum), so chances are it's not exactly good.Minor point being it's more helpful to try to bugfix a defective mod rather than just summarily uninstalling it, unless it's truly crap, in which case purging all references to it from your hard drive and then having a hot shower after being tainted by its filth may indeed be the best solution .
RRHARG NO YOU DON'T NEED TO DO THAT MANUALLYand you'll have to do all that manually.

Erhm, you do need to make it 'manually', see there is no .bat to do it(unless the user makes one), yes the mods etc. are installed by the WeiDU.exe 'automatically', but the interactions with the WeiDU.exe is done manually. That's all I mean... And we are making change to a mod by hand, not using the auto-uninstall-reinstall function the WeiDU.exe comes with as it only works with uninstalling and then reintroducing more components of the same mod/reinstalling the rest of the mods. Unless there is someway to script the reinstalling to be cut in the middle and... ah, just forget about that, it's way too complicated, I would at least assume...RRHARG NO YOU DON'T NEED TO DO THAT MANUALLY
Yes, if the case is just to uninstall one mods one or more components, then the WeiDU.exe in question can handle it, but usually that's not the case... leading up to a re-install.

I don't play BGT, I just mod for it (I leave any BGT-related testing to folks like you ). So I am constantly installing, uninstalling, reinstalling mods and would rather not wait as long for that than for game startup. What, so you actually have the time, the ten minutes, to wait for the game to start in Windows after clicking the quick icon till the game actually starts while the computer itself processes the override folder into a readable info? Your grammar remains an inscrutable mystery to me. But if you're talking about (re/un)installing one or more mods in the middle of the installation, the WeiGUI utility shipped with WeiDU can do exactly that. Just put WeiGUI.exe, WeiDU.exe, tk84.dll and tcl84.dll in the bg2 directory and run WeiGUI.
After that advertisement: May I ask where to fetch these files?
I looked for tk/tcl at activetcl after reading stuff about compiling WeiGui but it does not like the bundle for version 8.4.19.3. It also wanted an init.tcl. After setting that up as I thought it should be, I get a
Fatal error: exception Protocol.TkError("invalid command name "tcl_findLibrary"")I did not check the init-file, so error might be handmade.
So where do I get the right files / how do it set this up?
And maybe you could put a hint somewhere in the download-package so other people may try it, too?
I did not find a note in the html-file and I guess some people give up because the application does nothing after clicking it -- if it is missing some dlls, that's an obvious behavior, but some kind of info somewhere would be nice. Even google let me down.

Apart from laziness, it's undocumented because it's relatively untested and unstable, not to mention feature-poor, and thus I'd rather polish it up than document its current state (and it's been untouched since I first wrote it in 2006, so it's unlikely I'll resume work on it any time soon).
