There has previously been at least a few such reports... and no, there's no general cure for that, except manually opening the sword file and modifying it by hand to make it usable(if I remember it correctly).Has anyone ever had trouble with Xan being unable to wield his own Moonblade? I just met him in the mines and for some reason he cannot equip it. When I did a play through previously this was not an issue, but this was some time ago. I combed through the forums and could not find anything regarding this issue.

Yes. Actually the larger Setup options have that mod too.Hello again, I am already enjoying this supermod, thanx to Leomar and the community, I want to ask you something, I want to ADD a the widescreen mod, can I? Without, of course, ruining the installation...
Just make sure you install the latest one... it should be v2.60( <- direct download link) ... not a v1.

Well, open the file called WeiDU.log with Notepad, the file is in the game folder, search for "widescreen", and if there's no results, you are totally clear...I didn't have a wide screen display, so I didn't have it in mind to install this mod! So now I just run this setup, right?
If you do have a hit, the install might take a few hours instead of 2 minutes, but it still will complete successfully ... but you'll most likely need to restart the game from the beginning as your saves will have word scrambles/riddles that only the restart will correct.

Thanks for the quick reply about Xan's sword. One final question, what would I use to edit said sword/file?
Thanks!

The DLTCEP of course...Thanks for the quick reply about Xan's sword. One final question, what would I use to edit said sword/file?
How? -That's a little more involved, but you you basically need to have ".dat Files" from here, and setup the game's directory... and then just open the file(after you have disabled the "Read only" from the Settings), and go the the "Usability" window and push the "Select all" and then you just save the file and you should be done.

Seeing things like this makes me hesitant to use BWP for right now.

Firstly, a big thanks to all involved. This looks like it may very well suck up a dangerous amount of my time.
I have a somewhat strange question. During the command prompt installation section I pressed ctrl-p in an atempt to pause the process. It then jumped to the final checking stage. Was this mere coincidence or did I muck-up the install?
Thanks

This all comes down to efficiency, and weather or not you wish to actually have a fully documented game, or a game that actually works! ... with the latest updates and all that...I'm wondering just how reliable the most recent version of BWP is atm; are there plans to update the documentation?
But as you should use the BWS, you need not to even read the mod by mod documentation ...
The documentation will be updated sometime in the near future... or at least in this century.
What comes to the fixes and their version compatibility, they actually work on all of them, as they are applied the smart way, by first checking if the exact required lines are there and they look like they are supposed and only then it's applied, not with "let's overwrite this file and not even check any of it's content".
Install folder ? And you also need to disable the PCA to even patch the game on the 64b OS. Read the second answer here...I've recently tried to use this to play a giant walkthrough, and cannot get the trimpack patch.exe to work. I use nod32 and have it disabled as well as the UAC disabled in a windows 7 home OS. Any ideas?

My install folder is megamod/blah blah
I can't get gpedit.msc to run, it says it does not exist.

"5. BGT
If your folder Baldur's Gate is not to be found in the preset directory,
the program stops and you see below on the left only the flashing cursor.
Write then the path for your Baldur's Gate 1 game.
Preset is:
C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate
[Setup-BGT.exe] WeiDU version 22000
[Setup-BGT.exe] Using scripting style "BG2"
Using Language [English]
Installing [Baldur's Gate Trilogy - Core]
Creating 1 directory
Copying 1 file ...
Copying and patching 1 file ...
Copying and patching 1 file ...
Copying 1 file ..."
I did try the first time to install in the c:\games\ directory,
then after this message i tried to install in the C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate directory(specifing this in the bwp setup of course)
The third time i tried once again to reinstall in the c:\games directory.
3 days of patching and it still doesn't work..
Even more sad: i had this same version installed and working, but then i got a problem and i had to wipe out the disk and lost my installation. now it seems that it just doesn't want to work anymore
Running windows 7 x64 here(i was running this same SO when i did manage to make BWP work)
Any help would be appreciated thanks

See in the Setup-BGT*.debug and BiG World Debug.txt if it asks for a path.
Try to type in your path into the cmd-window and press enter.

Well, it could be that you did something different during the second time you installed the two games...Even more sad: i had this same version installed and working, but then i got a problem and i had to wipe out the disk and lost my installation. now it seems that it just doesn't want to work anymore
Try this one, first uninstall both games from the Control Panel, then delete their install folders(and keep the Big World Download folder safe somewhere else), then make sure you avoid the pit falls of the OS by disabling the UAC & PCA, and installing them to non_Program Files -folder, then install the games(custom & full install) and then install the expansions to them, patch them, and then start them and begin the fake game(use one of the default exported characters with the import as it's fastest) so the games autosave, exit the game and open the baldur.ini's the games have in their folders and make sure the [Alias]'es read correctly there.
Now then you just then need to run the BWS utility(make sure you use the latest one, so download that... even if they look all the same).
And that should take care of most of the problems you could have...
