@Lollorian: thanks, worked fine!

Now that I installed it all and made the magic happen, everything seems to be fine - except that I can't hear my character's voice. Neither during character creation (tried every entry), nor ingame. How come? I also don't hear footsteps (but can't remember if those ever were in the game; it's been a while.)

cheers

Apparently, my stupidity knows no boundaries. I still had the sound set to 7.1, which, of course, BG doesn't support.

@Leomar
I've nearly completed the whole BGI and BGII-SoA with BWP 9.1.2 and before going to ToB i wish to play it one more time with the same character from the very beginning. I think it would not be a big deal to reinstall new BWP version, mostly because of following problems:
1) Current installation has some issues with imoen friendship and possible romance(imoen has nothing to say to me, she does not appear in additional dreams and so on). But the dreams appeared successfully in 9.1.1(or 9.1.0, i'm not sure).
2) Some chests have "ground items" without an icon(look like an empty inventory node) and when i pick them up it's impossible to drop them. I think it may be fixed in current releases.
3) Some spells do not work as they are intended. For example, Eyes of Wraith lvl8 spell has infinite area of effect, it strikes even enemies i can't currently see. Project image can attack. With improved haste it has 10 attacks per round just like me and ruins the balance. My mislead can attack too with the same 10 attacks and full damage around 60 per strike. I think those two spells were unable to attack in original SoA. When my project image casts mislead, really wird things happen, mislead-dummy spawns naked and keeps telling "my magic has been interrupted" around 20 times each second.

Do you recommend to wait for the next major update(9.2 ?) or to install current version(9.1.7)? The main problem for me is 1), maybe someone knows how to fix it? 2) and 3) are not very important, but i hope they may be already fixed.

It's genreally not recommended to post in-game bugs in this thread when we already have an In-Game Bug Thread :D Anyhoo ...

3) ...For example, Eyes of Wraith lvl8 spell has infinite area of effect, it strikes even enemies i can't currently see ...

Eyes of Wrath - From TDD (SPMINTI.spl, SPMINTID.spl)

You should post in the TDD Bug thread along with a changelog of both .spl's :) (look at DA MEGAMOD FAQ in my sig for changelog action stuff :P)

2) Some chests have "ground items" without an icon(look like an empty inventory node) and when i pick them up it's impossible to drop them. I think it may be fixed in current releases.

We really need an "ItemFixer" mod that:

1) assigns some generic icon to items that have non (depending on type )
2) fixes the BGI proficiency issue (DLTCEP makes good guesses about their intended BGII proficiency)
3) does other fixey stuff that I don't have a clue about

When there's trouble brewing, see me post, cuz it's usually a wall o' yellow and your eyes are toast!!!"

yeah, i know. but the main question of the previous post was about BWP version i should(or should not) install next. so i wondered does BWP 1.9.7 fixes one of my three main problems(the 1) is especially important) and is it necessary to wait to BWP 9.2. oh, well. now i'll go and ask about imoen issue in BWP-problems thread. again.

thanks for reply, btw.

The following mod(s) could not be downloaded:
Shed's Mods - A Forgotten Wars Mod v1.03: The Mod itself (Shed\'s Mods 1.03.exe)

Some files cannot be downloaded with the "BiG World Setup".
Do you want to try to load the mods again or open the links in your default-browser to try it yourself?
Enter [y]es, [r]etry or [n]o.
I think it's a typo, but i had to exclude shed's mods from installation

Added:
BWS completed without errors, but Big World install shows that some mods are missing:
Posted Image
Is it ok? I've just skipped those mods during previous installations, but i wonder if it's ok? Especially BIG PICTURE?

I've got some wierd errors in BWP install script. could anyone figure out what do they mean? here's the very beginning of installation log:

Fxd3:
I've searched the forum and found a couple of posts about Hunk #N FAIL's. It seems that it's better NOT to use "Update download links" feature? I used it every time.

Those "ground item" things are from random treasure tables and have happened for a long time so who knows what or why. They clear from inventory when you reload a save. It could be how the engine handles those rndtre's by creating an actual item that uses the table. ???

Well, the install went pretty smooth, were it not for three main problems:
1) BWS thinks, that it has extracted all mods-installers successfully, but BPW installer script does not think so. It has been the same since 9.0, but i don't think it's right.
2) Wierd Hunk fails. AFAIK it's something about patching files, when patcher tries to find some binary chunk in file and can't do it. apparently big world fixpack is trying to fix the wrong file, or trying to apply a wrong fix.
3) The issue is small, but it nearly was fatal for me: i've set BWP install.but to work and went to bed. Somehow(miracle?) i wished to check how's it going after a couple of minutes. And... installation was stuck with "press any key" at the "now taskkill will kill all your tasks"-section. i don't think it's right to interrupt BWP installation with "press any key"-message from taskkill.

the rest seems to be ok, just a couple of silly questions about mod sets:
- where's scrollable mage spellbook? i've enabled this feature in TobEx.ini, but there was a separate mod for this feature in previous bwp. is this TobEx feature safe?
- small question. is it possible to return standard "spell immunity" animation? some mod replaces it with one from planescape(as far as i remember), but i prefer default.

The Taimon's ToBHacks had it in the previous version... and they both should be as safe... if the ToBEx is not more safe, as it's use is required to actually start the game...
PS, read the cheesed manual. :rtfm: You can even read the BiG_World_v5.5.1_beta_english.pdf from that link... so the mod is definitely covered in one of those manuals.

Make sure you Enable=1'ed the Mage/Priest Scroll Bars and not just the KitScroll :P Also ... make sure you start the game using ToBExLoader.exe ;)

There may be some stuff you might need to watch out for in Vista/Win7 though

Yeah, i've found scrollable mage spellbook in TobEx loader before, but it says something about incompability with ToBHacks, so i wasn't eager to use that feature. especially because in previous BWP releases there separate scrollable spellbook mod. i turned it on in tobex.ini and works well now, thanks.

what's up with BIG PICTURE? it seems not to be installed in standard BWS, BWP install thinks that it's missing. i've downloaded it and extracted manually before BWP install, and it seemed to be installed quite right now.

If you're doing a new BWPRecommended/Standard/Tactics install, there's nothing to suggest that the current fix-installpack combo will lead to total game ownage  (and I'll also say it again ... if you're doing either standard/tactics ... you're better off skipping many of the stuff you may not like ;))

If you want a good working install, just go through atleast the descriptions in the BWP Guide and leave out stuff you may not like (for me, it's always been the 1-day NPC section :P) Just don't extract them in your BGII-SoA folder and the installer will just install the mods that are present :)

PS: If you're using the BWS, choose the "Further customize ..." checkbox to actually choose which mods to install ;) (@BWP guys: the BWS should really check that by default :P)

The demand was to create an installation with "as few clicks as possible".
So I don't think that will be changed.

Edit:
Adding a line like
GUICtrlSetState($g_UI_Interact[2][6], $GUI_CHECKED)
to Includes\14_Select-GUILoop.au3 will do the trick.

Well, if you don't check the "Further customization ...." thing, it'll take you first a few hours to notice that you cheesed up the install and then couple of hours to uninstall, few clicks here there and then you notice... all which can be avoided by demanding just 1 more click at the default rote, as you can skip the selection with just a 1 click that continues from the selection screen!
So to my view, it would be best that one would predefine the "Fur..." as selected by default. This also because, I wouldn't have to tell people to then go and select the feature in most of my posts to new people. :P

Word :coolthumb: Exactly ... Lots of people don't even seem to know that you can actually select what you wanna install ;) (nobody reads stuff ... that's given )

Adding a line like

GUICtrlSetState($g_UI_Interact[2][6], $GUI_CHECKED)
to Includes\14_Select-GUILoop.au3 will do the trick.

Also, doing that to just avoid one click for something that would prolly be used once (hey, who uses the BWS once everything's installed huh?? :D) lol
