@Tonton Fred:
Thanks for testing. Did you further tests or could you upload an unchanged & compressed copy of your BiG World Setup\Config\User.ini? Due to your suggestion I added a save-section that would include your initial selection so that I could try to reproduce the errors.

@All:
Regarding the backup:
Can some more people test if CDCreAni.bif and DESound.bif are also missing in their installation?

I found that maybe you can find it at \CD3\Data\CDCreAni.bif if not at \data\CDCreAni.bif. Maybe you can find DESound.bif somewhere else in your BG2-folder?

(I don't own an English version and I did a copy and paste from Leonardos batch, where both files are listed as a part of the English installation. Yes, it's a "If Exist"-line, but mostly every line is that, so I don't take that into account.)

Thank you.

I found out that skipped components are not listed in the usual order but listed once and are not touched during the summary (others are listed in the order they are called).
Seems like I did not look out for those careful enough. -_-
This results in wired test-results parsing the Debug-files.

I also found a comment in the block where the if-statements are put. The result was no BG2Fixpack-translations for anyone. If if-statements are not met, you received the "Due to your selection"-message (which is not 100% precise - I know) and the installation is skipped.

I guess that's enough to chew on for now. You better do not use the "batch"-option now. :(
Installing it the old way will work as expected. SCS will be installed in a batch. You still may want to remove the comment for an updated English translation.

While doing an unsuccessful installation, the Setup told me it couldn't download a mod and some mods downloaded couldn't be extracted.

The mod it couldn't download was the Shed's Mod, but it could be downloaded manually. However, the Setup want it to be called "Shed\'s Mods 1.03", when the file is called "Shed_'s Mods 1.03", so I think the Setup version is wrong (besides, Windows can't name files with "\" in it).

The other mods where "Paladins of Faerun Kitpack", "Solestia NPC", "Kari the Kobold", "Volcanic Armory" and "Wikaede NPC". Kari and Wikaede was just an incorrect file size download (I downloaded them later correctly), but Volcanic, Solestia and Paladins don't (they had a size 0 kb). In fact, the Volcanic Armory has been updated recently, and the old version has been deleted, so the Setup is searching a dead link, instead of the new one.

About Paladins of Faerun and Solestia, the Setup is searching in teambg.eu, but that site is dead (and the download links too). I couldn't find more sites to download them, so I don't know if the mods are gone or I just didn't have luck.

Leomar - who is usually keeping the link-list up to date - is currently taking some sort of timeout.
So dead links may be common these days.

If people give me some sort of list, I may update the files that are used for link-updates (maybe once a week). Please bear with it.

BDToBv168 (component 3: Restored Hindo's Doom) is preferred to DSoA (component 2: Improved Copper Coronet).

BDToBv168 has an Improved Copper Coronet component, but it's component 5, why should Restored Hindo's Doom be incompatible with component 2 of DSoA?

Also, last time I tried to install Hard Times component 1 without the main component, it said I couldn't (so they're not independent, AFAIK).

The line's Copper Coronet=C:BDToBv168(3)>DSoA(2), so I guess it's just a typo.

Just a little question:

I've been running some tests to see if there are still some bugs regarding the grouping-feature.

So I'd like to know what would be a good way to do some "quick but mostly complete" tests.
I decided to remove all the big mods but bgt to speed up the installation.
Do you have some other components/mods that take some time to install?
I think scs has "make that weapon (not) immune to iron-crisis". Do you remember others?

Edit:Unique artefacts is slow, too.

I think pretty much all "Smarter..." components of SCSII patch huge number of files. Gen Biffing takes some time, but not sure this is what you're after... 1PP mods may take some time to install also.

New release

Added:
  • Optionally set the codepage ACP to 1252 (Western Europe) to avoid problems with non-unicode-programs.
  • Handle mods that use prompts.tra (slightly modify these files to preserve English default tokens).
  • Optionally play ring-sound if installation is halted (displays some questions).

Fixed:
  • Bad logical error in batch/group-installation.
  • Files with multiple attributes don't get messes up during backup/restore.
  • Removed stupid scrolling issues in console-mode (e.g. Au3ExTest).

Changed:
  • Put pre- and post-installation-checks into separate functions to improve readability and avoid errors.
  • Changed how groups are handled.
  • Remove CDCreAni.bif and DESound.bif from bif-checks after backup-restore because they seem to be additional files.
  • Install those dummy-info-entries after WeiDU-replacements.
  • Use quick-log to speed up installation.

THINK! - It's not illegal.

Can the Tutu mod called TutuGui (uses the nice stone GUI from BG1) be installed safely after a BWS tactical install?
I can do this!

Nice ! Install time is now around 3 hours for the user.ini I posted above and, more importantly, I have now a 99% success rate regarding my component selection. The following components are skipped :

SKIPPING: [Smarter Illasera]
The non-Ascension version of Illasera is already improved by the "Smarter Mages" component of SCSII
SKIPPING: [Smarter Yaga-Shura]
The non-Ascension version of Yaga-Shura is already improved by the "Smarter General AI" component of SCSII

Smarter Illasera (Sword Coast Stratagems II (SCSII) v13) was skipped.
Removing scsII #6210
Smarter Yaga-Shura (Sword Coast Stratagems II (SCSII) v13) was skipped.
Removing scsII #6220

It appears Ascension is not detected for these 2 components. This is strange because I have BP Ascension installed AND all other ascension-related components (like Turnabout) did install successfully. I don't know if there is a bad filecheck in the BWS or if the new BP180 shuffled things so much that SCS doesn't recognize Ascension as installed.

Another strange skip :

SKIPPING: [Animations and sounds]
Aurora's Shoes has already installed this.
Svirfneblin Animations -> Animations and sounds (Infinity Animations Core (WeiDU-Beta) v5) was skipped.
Removing infinityanimations #490

I don't know why Aurora's Shoes might install Svirfneblin Animations and sounds, but maybe Miloch can confirm if this is the case ?

What else... ah yes, ToB Hacks is STILL fixed in Mod.ini, and the fixed-mod on reload is still glitchy. Test case : reload (any) configuration and ALL of the tob_hacks (actually, all fixed mods') components will be selected and fixed, including components 31 and 41, which will trigger a conflict with Spell Revisions if it is selected. Spell revisions is preferred to Tob Hacks, but the Hacks cannot be removed...

All in all, the beta is definitely shaping up ; you can launch the Release Candidate soon

I am pretty sure this is not the right thread for this question. :)

Not really, as you'll cheese your GUI totally... so following that, you need to remove the Generalized biffing and the mods after that and then install the Tutu GUI mod, start the game from the quick icon, take a nab so the game actually start in about 10 minutes... and quick start a game to see if the interface is OK(?), and then exit... if the interface was OK, install Generalized biffing and the rest... if it wasn't uninstall the TutuGUI and proceed to the gen biffing etc.

I am pretty sure this is not the right thread for this question. :)

Pretty sure we can still answer the question... and not just be pretty.

C:\Games\BGII - SoA>

Exiting due to major problems.

Got this, using the latest release and all. I noticed a similar error reported earlier on in the thread, but possibly due to my knackered state I didn't really get what was going on. Any other info needed?

Cheers. I don't understand why exactly it happened, if you can explain that to a layman like myself? If not, I'll struggle onwards.

Please don't download stuff if it's old and the source is devolping.

You might hose your installation since the variables and functions that are used might have changed and the calls from the other include-files may not fit together. It's like suggesting to download Windows XP/Vista system-files while using 7. It might work or you might break your installation.

Also note that the function that is responsible for changing directories isn't even in there...

Solution:
Open the BiG World Setup\Config\User.ini.
Change the line BG2=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\ to C:\Games\BGII - SoA.

If that does not help, please look into the debug-file. Either click the button while being in the GUI or open it manually. The file is located in BiG World Setup\Logs - name is either BiG World Debug.txt or BiG World Install Debug.txt. Tell me the directory-name before the cd /D-command.

123123123>
cd /D C:\Games\BGII - SoA\

C:\Games\BGII - SoA>

I need the value your 123123123> - line.

I'll try this. User.ini didn't appear until I started the setup, so I promptly exited at the first opportunity, then opened the file.

[Options]
BG2=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\
Download=C:\Games\BiG World Downloads

I may have misunderstood, should it be BG2=C:\Games\BGII - SoA or just C:\Games\BGII - SoA as the top line?
