Alright, so even if I don't know if you even care about my bug report, Dabus, here are the problems I encountered during my current tactic install until it was successful, a summary:

1. A problem with the importation of the saved selection that you know of already.

2. I had a problem with Infinity Animation that only happens on some operating systems. That will be fixed by Miloch in the future by creating another type of archives for the IA mods from what I understood.

3. The line from the settings ini relating BGTMusic and TobEx caused failed installs. That must be fixed.

4. I noticed some small mistakes in the selection of components:
In the BG2 NPC a small typo at Mhoram - a poet whith(with) a lot of dialog(ue) and a very tough quest. He can romance a female HC(PC)
In the BG2 rules, tweaks and spells section - in atweaks, at Altered xp rewards from locks, traps and scrolls, both options are selected- improved xp and no xp. Obviously both can't be selected.
- in BG2 Tweak Pack in Romance Cheats different options were selected but also the no changes option

5. Finally, at the end of the install I got
D:\games\Black Isle\BGII - SoA>The following originally selected mods could not be installed:

Mod: Sword Coast Stratagems
Component: Iron Skins behaves like Stoneskin (can be brought down by Breach)

Mod: Revised Battles
Component: Improved Firkraag Romantic Encounters Compatibility Patch -> Improved Firkraag

Mod: Sword Coast Stratagems II
Component: Cap damage done by Skull Trap at 12d6
Component: Make spell sequencers, spell triggers, and contingencies learnable by all mages
Component: Improved Spiders

So this is what I noticed in my install, I hope it helps.

But in general the new tool, with the install included, looks awesome and is very useful! Thank you Dabus for your work in improving it.

I received the solution to the TobEx problem here:

Here's original line:

; one or more mod/component has conflicts with another
..
..
Tob_Hacks is only needed for non-BGT-games=C:BGTMusic(-)>TobEx(100)>tob_hacks(0)

The first part is description, after the equal sign the code tells the installer that if you have BGTMusic then Tobex is not compatible with your install and won't install it. BGTMusic is a required mod and cannot be unselected - it must be installed. So TobEx cannot be installed because from that line above says it is incompatible with BGTMusic.

I changed the line to this and reinstalled and it worked:
Tob_Hacks is only needed for non-BGT-games=C:BGTMusic(-)>tob_hacks(0)

You see what's going on now? That one line messed things up

I will start a new install later and tell you if this was indeed the problem so it can be fixed.

EDIT: Another failed install. This didn't fix it :( .

Edit2: I see that you said this to smeagolheart

Search for tobex in the BiG World Setup\Config\Setup.ini and delete the line with bgtmusic and tobex in it.

What's the difference between this solution and the change that smeagolheart ended up doing? Will deleting the line instead of just changing it surely make my install successful?

I am having the same issue.

  • BWS 20110406
  • BWP 9.9 (I think)
  • Windows XP (Western European)
The install seems to go through flawlessly, but :

  • when I launch baldur.exe, I crash with an error on bgmain.exe.
  • when I launch TobExLoader.exe, nothing happens
  • Baldur.err is empty (of relevant content)

I also have the following line in my \BiG World Setup\Config\Setup.ini :
Tob_Hacks is only needed for non-BGT-games=C:BGTMusic(-)>TobEx(100)>tob_hacks(0)

whereas in my previous install (that worked), I had :
Tob_Hacks is only needed for non-BGT-games=C:BGTMusic(-)>tob_hacks(0)

Is it safe to delete/replace this line, and have both below selected :

  • Throne of Bhaal Extender/0100 - TobEx Core
  • BGT Music (can't be deselected)
?

I have my debug files avalaible, if needed and requested.

Edit : Added my Big World Debug.7z

This seems interesting to me :

I am going to give this option a try :

  • replace faulty line in setup.ini with
Tob_Hacks is only needed for non-BGT-games=C:BGTMusic(-)>tob_hacks(0)
  • select
    0100 TobEx Core
    component in BWS
  • install again
I will keep you updated.

@ Karmapowered
You have to delete the whole line "Tob_Hacks is only needed for non-BGT-games=C:BGTMusic(-)>TobEx(100)>tob_hacks(0)" for the install to succeed. And then in the mod list you can manually deselect TobHacks songlist patch, since BGTMusic includes that patch.

As promised, I am reporting back.

It seems that it worked!

Going to play some, before calling it a definite keeper though.

Hi Dreamer2007,

It seems to me that the line is a constraint. Therefore, I think you're correct that we can install BGTMusic, but not Tob_Hacks(0) with it.

Where the setup.ini of the latest BWS version seems faulty to me is that the TobEx core (element "0100") is unchecked as soon as we use the mandatory BGTMusic component, while TobEx core is still needed by all the other TobEx components : "0101 - Apply Concentration Check on Damage (WIP)", etc.

Since I don't use TobHacks (and its songlist patch), but want to keep TobEx, I just changed the line above, and it worked.

I don't know why this was changed to start with. I am sure that Dabus or Leonardo had a good reason for that, but I hope we get an official confirmation (or fix) for that.

Happy gaming to all :)

@ Karmapowered

Very good that in your case the install worked only with the editing of that line :D . In my case the editing resulted in another failed install, and only after I deleted the whole line I finally had a successful install.

Download 20110410

Fixed:
  • Theme-checkboxes should behave as expected after loading an old selection/preselection.
  • Deny any change of any checkbox while AI is working to prevent errors.
  • Get output from weidu in administration-sections.
  • Have wget-checks work properly again.
Added:
  • Check for infinityanimations-files that begin with non-standard ascii charakters.
  • Copy some files for cleanup.bat.
  • Added usage of referers to download from some strict servers.

Updated to fit BWP 9.10

Hacks were changed to C:BGTMusic(-)|TobEx(100):tob_hacks(0), which means that either BGTMusic or TobEx will be preferred to Tob_Hacks but won't conflict with each other.
I just suggested to remove the hole line because that would be easier than changing it.

You don't need to install to see if a component would be installed. Look at the BiG World Setup\Config\User.ini, [Current]-section for your mod and it's component number. If you find it there, the BWS would try to install it.
THINK! - It's not illegal.

Ok, my tool can download most of the links but links from www.mediafire.com (Kari and VolcanicArmoury), but GoogleChrome cannot do better, user has to click on the link manually; and some links have server side error (doesn't respond, missing file).

Anyway, I discover that some links are ftp => have to take care of these ftp things.
I'll be back asap :)

Looking fantastic, and will try it tomorrow, just to be "clean" :woot:

Also, the new BWS interface was well worth the waiting : no longer any forced updating, everything customizable or almost, most bug fixed, so much more user-friendly and clearer than the first tool that I tried (with the bat file).

Thank you for your hard work, to everyone working on this project

Although the previous install was a success I decided to reinstall to use the new BWS version. And first of all the Infinity Animation is not checked properly, I still had to manually replace the wrong letters.

But that's not so important, what's important is that I got an error when installing Ribald's Genie
##### Ribald's Genie #####
### 0000: Ribald's Genie ###
Ready for installation
Setup-RGenie.exe --noautoupdate --language 0 --skip-at-view --quick-log --force-install-list 0 --logapp

Make sure that you have unpacked the archive correctly and
that you are not trying to run this file from inside an archive.[Setup-RGenie.exe] Using scripting style "BG2"

Press ENTER to exit.

But the files seem unpacked, so thats weird.

Loving the BWS. I did a mega-install on Friday, with the previous version. I manually added some mods, and I removed the line about BGTMusic conflicting with ToBEx, so the installation is working.

You should be able to mark some more mod components as "conflicting" with ToBEx as they are superseded by it. (See this thread and post for more details.) I would suggest adding the following lines to setup.ini:

Configurable Damage Effect Bypasses Mirror Images=C:ToBEx(160)>spell_rev(20)
Dispel Magic formula fix=C:ToBEx(290)>spell_rev(30)
Awaken On Damage/Cure Sleep Fix=C:ToBEx(90)>spell_rev(40)
Externalise Mage Spell Hiding=C:ToBEx(400)>spell_rev(50)
Weapon Specialisation Number of Attacks Mod=C:ToBEx(990)>tb#tweaks(3500)
Drop Inventory on Disintegrate=C:ToBEx(120)>P5Tweaks(20)
Drop Inventory on Frozen Death=C:ToBEx(121)>P5Tweaks(10)
Drop Inventory on Petrification=C:ToBEx(122)>P5Tweaks(40)
Configurable Item Dispel Behaviour=C:ToBEx(170)>Tob_hacks(41)

I also noted on a previous installation that when the BWS finishes, a final message appeared about certain components not being installed. After digging around, I discovered that certain mod/components do the same thing. Once installed, subsequent mod/components that replicate the installed behaviour are automatically skipped; so this is not actually an error, despite the wording of the message. Therefore I would also propose adding:

Level-50 Ruleset=C:RoTerror(0)>BPv180(14)
Cap damage done by Skull Trap to 12d6=C:spell_rev(0)>scsii(2080)
Make spell sequencers, spell triggers, and contingencies learnable by all mages=C:spell_rev(0)>scs(1070)>scsii(2150)

I added all these lines manually before my Mega-mod attempt on Friday and my install went through with 0 installation errors.

Reporting some (in my opinion) invalid constraints in the \BiG World Setup\Config\setup.ini file, on an ENGLISH language setup :

Version

Translations
EN

Compilation
"Recommended version" (customized)

1/ "Angelo Notices Shar-teel=C:bg1npc(1)>bg1ub(3)>BGTTweak(200)"
-> Component BGTTWeak(200) is never displayed (and thus can't be selected/unselected) on the GUI, for some reason I cannot understand.

2/ "Several Sharteel inctances 1=C:TDD(-)>sharteel(-)"
-> Sharteel seems to be a German-only mod, which is probably why it is never displayed (and thus can't be selected/unselected) on the GUI.

3/ Devin conflicts with Improved Vampires=C:devin(-)>scsII(6130)
-> Devin seems to be a French-only mod (took me a while to find this one, "Les Exiles de Lunargent"), which is probably why it is never displayed (and thus can't be selected/unselected) on the GUI.

This leads me to the following, (in my opinion) incorrect Conflict/Dependencies screen :

Posted Image

Right now, I am able to remove the lines, and proceed with the installation without further issues, so no biggie.

Hi, I'll start by this NICE WORK.

Now to a question that I am sure is answered somewhere but my inability to use the search function of spellhold is dismaying...

I install both GOG copy of BG and BG2: C:/games/black isle/bgt/Baldurs Gate & :/games/black isle/bgt/BGII - SoA
I install the big world setup in the bg2 - soa directory, run it in EN & recommended, download everything and unpack everything.
The install.bak start and reach the verification of throne of bhaal... it says the movies file is not there (easily fixed...) but he says the addon is not patched.. tried to manually patch (even though the number were good before) and it still doesn't want to get by that step...

What do I do wrong?

Thanks

Go to C:/games/black isle/bgt/BGII - SoA
Make a new file called "BG2-ToBPatchReadMe.txt" and save.
The other thing you need to do is copy the "25Movies.bif" from somewhere to the C:/games/black isle/bgt/BGII - SoA/CD5/movies -directory and add this line to the CD5 [Alias] line in the baldur.ini file that you can open with Notepad for example:
[Alias]
HD0:=C:\games\black isle\bgt\BGII - SoA\
CD1:=C:\games\black isle\bgt\BGII - SoA\CDALL\
CD2:=C:\games\black isle\bgt\BGII - SoA\CDALL\
CD3:=C:\games\black isle\bgt\BGII - SoA\CDALL\
CD4:=C:\games\black isle\bgt\BGII - SoA\CDALL\
CD5:=C:\games\black isle\bgt\BGII - SoA\CDALL\;C:\games\black isle\bgt\BGII - SoA\CD5\

Thank you, Dabus.

Your dedication, and the consistency of your updates, never ceases to amaze me.

You've made an extraordinary tool.

I will try it out on a (yet another) update of my game configuration, and report if I find bugs.

When will you guys make BWS beta the "official" installer ?

Yeah BWS Beta should replace the other installer. Better, easier and more customizable in everyway.
