WARNING: cannot find block matching [edwin/bcs/EDWIN_DEGARDAN.BCS]

It is trying to replace an existing script block with another, and can't find the existing script block. Maybe BWS should rewrite REPLACE_BCS_BLOCK to use REPLACE_TEXTUALLY on the fly :D.

Uh, I don't mind if you post the mod-related problems here, but I cannot help you with mod-specific WeiDU-errors and I doubt that a lot of modders will look into this topic frequently.

If the real installation gets started and the WeiDU-setups fire up without warnings like "command not found", I assume that the process until then went ok and the error is not really one of the BWS.

So I just guess that getting yourself some help in a separate topic might have a higher chance than here.
A note about you using BWS-beta might be appropriate. I'd also guess that the mods own debug-file may be a bit better to debug the errors, since it's a bit more detailed.

I'd just wanted to tell you this since I'm close to know nothing about WeiDU and the mods itself.
I just script a "framework" to install the stuff. ;)

ok, that's cool

I just thought that ''
FATAL ERROR: Failure("not a valid TLK file (wrong sig)")

is related to the BWS setup, becouse I'm not geting any errors like that with same installation in BWP9.2 :)

There is no need for me to look for help somewhere else.I'm testing this Beta version to try to help you out, finding errors etc. That's the whole point of that isn't it?? ;)

By the way, as you are probably German, I just wanted to congratulate your team such a great World Cup so far.Great football!!Very enyoyable to watch.Wish them well in the semis and the final 8)

Error:
Yes, this thread is about finding errors.
And I appreciate your time to look after them.

But the error is not produced by the BWS.
I would not know how to check if a TLK is valid, either.

I could help with a crash when there are funny array-messages or buttons don't respond or something like that. Stuff that's not related to WeiDU-coding.

Football:
I think I have watched 2 minutes of a game recap by accident.
I can tell that we are still in the world cup picture by the yelling of the vuvuzellas (?).
But I don't really care, maybe watched an hour of football the last 15 months while eating something. :D

Edit regarding errors:
By the way: It's when Item_Pack creates the dialog.tlk, and the next mods are complaining...

[dialog.tlk] created, 348444 string entries
Then there is a bunch of [NUL]-characters...] and nothing more.
You should have a message like SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED XYZ, but it seems like WeiDU just crashed and corrupted the tlk. If your cooler is not working, I guess it was your problem in this case.

Well, since you asked for success stories - I got everything working just fine with no problems.

Although, the fact that I couldn't have Item Revisions and Improved Horns of Valhalla both installed without it automatically trying to 'correct' me was kind of annoying, but that's about the only thing I can really comment about.

Thanks - this makes using BWP a necessity for me now. I couldn't use it before because of it automatically selecting which components to install, but this makes it way better.

Thanks for reporting.

The Item_rev and horn-mod both happily copy the file of the horn, so you cannot have both since it's overwritten by the other. Since the horn is included in Item_rev and item_rev has several other things it modifies, it is preferred.

Can someone tell my why documentation takes soooo much time? :(

  • Added: Remove temporary download-folder (which is created right before the first start) if another folder is selected.
  • Fixed: BWS can handle installations in folders that contain other than standard-AscII-characters. (cd, wget and 7z receive not standard windows but the "crippled" DOS-characters by reading echoed strings from temp-files -- ugly but fast)
  • Changed: Faq written in html-format now. Other documents may follow.
  • Packaged with winrar and sfx to have a nicer appearance and more place for some sort of introduction.

Click.
FAQ

Would be nice to hear if you still got some skipped stuff in your installation that we missed.
(Conflicts or dependencies that could have been solved during the selection.)

I'd say that's because it basically requires to explain to the world how one's brain works

All right, some generic remarks :

1) ToB Hacks no longer fixed, yay

2) I don't know if you intend the BWS setup to be able to execute completely unattended. If yes, then even when selecting "no pause" for all 3 sections in the setup, it will still stop twice : once before starting NSIS-extraction, another time before starting the install phase.

3)The EXE package interface is still mostly in German.

Now regarding the install proper :

4) Setup.ini states that SCSII(1010) is preferred to SCS(20). However, when selecting "resolve conflict" in the BWS, scsii(1010) is removed while scs(20) is kept ? I am not 100% sure of which option I selected, but for the Spell Revisions/SCSII conflicts, it did the right thing by keeping SR's components. It shouldn't matter much as I believe those components are identical, but maybe it is a sign of glitchy behaviour.

5) Hammers still looks as though it is installed too late (ie after Item Revisions), but that looks like something Leomar should take care of whenever he's back.

Otherwise, I'm happy to report my install went along without a glitch ! Congratulations !

I also have to say that I have no megamod selected (TDD & co), so it might be a good thing to test those...

Cheers,
Fred

EDIT : there's still that strange stuff about SCS not detecting Ascension, I should go post about it in SCS' forum, but David seems to have gone missing since several months...

Did you test it or do you assume it?
Just tested _Misc_MsgGUI-call for logicX=2 and they disappeared both.
; NSIS-Msg
If IniRead($g_BWSIni, 'Options', 'Logic2', 1) = 2 Then; don't halt NSIS-message if it's an over-night-installation (Logic2=2)
	_Misc_MsgGUI(3, _GetTR($Message, 'T1'), _GetTR($Message, 'L1'), 1, _GetTR($Message, 'B1'), '', '', 5); => starting silent install + notes
Else
	_Misc_MsgGUI(3, _GetTR($Message, 'T1'), _GetTR($Message, 'L1'), 1, _GetTR($Message, 'B1')); => starting silent install + notes
EndIf
; Install-Msg
If IniRead($g_UsrIni, 'Options', 'Logic3', 1) = '3' Then; hide message if needed
	_Misc_MsgGUI(2, _GetTR($Message, 'L7'), _GetTR($Message, 'L8'), 1, '', '', '', 30); => pre-install-info
Else
	_Misc_MsgGUI(2, _GetTR($Message, 'L7'), _GetTR($Message, 'L8')); => pre-install-info
EndIf
I miscalculated with the last parameter to be one second (takes twice as long), but the windows closed after 10/60 seconds... This is intended since I wanted the massage to be displayed if you are still working with your computer.

3)The EXE package interface is still mostly in German.

Uh, thought I read something about included localizations, but I guess I was wrong.
Taking the English-SFX-module from another version seems to work.

Now regarding the install proper :

4) Setup.ini states that SCSII(1010) is preferred to SCS(20). However, when selecting "resolve conflict" in the BWS, scsii(1010) is removed while scs(20) is kept ? It shouldn't matter much as I believe those components are identical, but maybe it is a sign of glitchy behaviour.

Well, if I use recommended, add scs(20) and continue, it always gets kicked.
If you can reproduce this, tell me how.

5) Hammers still looks as though it is installed too late (ie after Item Revisions), but that looks like something Leomar should take care of whenever he's back.

Jup, at least that would be my favorite solution.

Thanks for testing. :)

Edit:
From scsII.tp2:
REQUIRE_PREDICATE FILE_EXISTS_IN_GAME ~illas01.itm~ @3309
REQUIRE_PREDICATE FILE_EXISTS_IN_GAME ~yagaft.bcs~ @3310

First gets installed if component Improved Illasera is installed.
BEGIN @630
...
COPY ~BPv180/ASCEND/TOUGH/ILLA/COPY/illas01.ITM~ ~override/illas01.ITM~

Seconds bcs does not exist in the BP-folder and I could not find it in the tp2 either.

Ok, I was still around the computer, so I clicked to continue, didn't know about the timeout.

From scsII.tp2:.

Thanks, just posted this info on the SCS forum, we'll see if someone can come up with a fix at least for Yaga-Shura.

Cheers,
Fred

It appears my install cannot do changelogs unless tinkered with. I don't know whether it's related to my specific install, the beta or if it is a general BWS problem : link

Seems like WeiDU dislikes the missing backup-folder during the creation of the fake-tp2-entries for the BWP/BWS.

Creating an empty file %BG2Dir%\WeiDU\BWP_Backup\0\Mappings.0 solved the issue for me, because that's just what WeiDU was complaining about. (Which you did.)

Which is a bit funny since the folder should have been created if it was missing.

Edit: Ah, I think I might get it.
I always use the same backup-dir and component-number for those fake entries. I do install/uninstall the last entry to have the quicklog-entries changed to full-fledged normal entries.

Well, I use quick-log to speed up the installation and having an entry
~SETUP-BWS_FINAL.TP2~ #0 #0 // Make quick-logged WeiDU-entries visible
to finish the installation did not seem to be convenient, so I add an uninstall it (like GUIs BG2-component).
This seems to remove the backup-dir and thus this error is created.

Check, it's that way. :D
So I'll just create the empty file after the installation finished.
Fixed that + English WinRar SFX GUI.

Got a quirk on my last install. The setup was downloading the selected mods, and then complained about not being able to download Alora NPC, which was not even selected for install...

Spoiler

EDIT : regarding the notification windows, they don't seem to be closing for me. The message saying NSIS package extraction will start does not disappear, even if waiting for several minutes. The message that NSIS extraction is finished does however close automatically. Then, the last message saying that the installation will now start does not close automatically.

Uh, do you have a line-number?
I have scrolled through to line 2757 but could not find suspicious stuff.
There are some hunks but you do have them if people update their code and patches don't match any more.

Also the batch is just executed in a cmd-shell like you would normally do it yourself.

Technically the BWS spawns a cmd-window and captures its stdin/stdout/stderr-streams. To execute a command, it is written into stdin and stdout/stderr are captured until the executable is closed or a dummy file is created. So running the command with the BWS-beta or the BiG World Install.bat or any other way should have exact the same results.

When the patches fail it messes up the mods that it fails on and always fails on the same mods.
Is there anyway to skip the parts of the fix pack it fails on and manually edit the code that needs to be edited. :whistling:

Well, if you know which mods fail, you may want to report it in the BWP9.2- or Fixes for the Fixpack-thread.
I'm not involved in the BWP-packs, just script the BWS.

I also thought that patches only get applied if the specified line has the specified text in it (and thus would be enough to avoid major errors). Well, maybe not if you end up with some messed up /half-patched file, but I have to admit that I did not bother to look after the patch-parameters and what exactly happens if that happens. (Maybe it goes back to original state or stays half-patched...)

You can always locally remove the lines/patches from the Fixpack-folder if you know what's going on.
