ok i have bgt installed, and the really big worldmap. i just beat savevok and started bg2. i was looking forward to being able to travel back to baldurs gate or wherever else i wanted. but no. every location says unreachable for some reason. what possible reason would the creators of these games have in making all the areas unreachable? is there a way around this? I just want the ability to go where i want, when i want.
plus there are like 500 towns on this worldmap, and i cant travel to any of them. why not? what are they on the map for if i cant travel to them?? i just dont really understand. if anyone could shed some light on this that would be perfect. thanks in advance

The game doesn't allow you to travel to the BG1 maps on purpose, because the enemies spawned there are way more easy, and you could drop all your items to a point and retrieve them later. What you can do is use the console and use the CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("x") , where the x is the arXXXX-name the game gives you when you push the x button on the location, or use this as your guide.

Now, what do you mean with this:

there are like 500 towns on this worldmap, and i cant travel to any of them. why not?

Have you been in the Athkatla Gate and tried to exit from both directions, as it should give you access to most of the areas.

Also the WeiDU.log would help, as you might have cheesed your install order big time.

The areas from BG1 may be imported into the game engine of BG2, but they are still two separate parts of the story. The designers never even planned for them to be on the BG2 worldmap - they made two separate games, after all. It would make no sense at all if you could go back. If you don't care about sense, there's always what the Imp said.

Most of the "500" towns on the map are there because the creators of the Worldmap mod scanned in a map from the pen and paper Forgotten Realms resources. They are not necessarily areas in the game, just atmospheric background.

Like Jarno said, there's already CLUA :) If you find that too unrealistic, then you might wanna know that according to BGT, after the Sarevok fight, some shadow thieves CHARNAME-nap you and the party while you were travellling to Amn.

So, the party was most probably unconscious all the way until you woke up in Chateau Irenicus ;) Does it make sense that you know the entire way to Baldur's Gate while you were napping?? ^_^ (ok, agreed that you ARE the child of Bhaal and all, but ... come on :P)

there are like 500 towns on this worldmap, and i cant travel to any of them. why not?

Have you been in the Athkatla Gate and tried to exit from both directions, as it should give you access to most of the areas.

Well, if you have the mods installed you'll get to those areas :) (for example, the Worldmap does have Soubar shown ... but it's available only if the Shadows of Soubar mod is installed ;) ... or I'm terribly mistaken and the Worldmap installs only those areas that you have already installed at the time )

So, WeiDU.log would be mighty awesome :P

The BP-BGT-Worldmap mod only installs the components that have been installed already to the game, as it overwrites the whole game map and then patches the locations according to the code it was provided with. So it needs to be installed last, or at least after all the other worldmap mods. As you could know, all the mods will overwrite every other worldmap(worldmap.wmp and worldm25.wmp, which the later is the ToB only map) changes that was installed before them, these include the G3 Fixpack, NEJ, TDD, SoS, CtB, TS, TS-BP and, BGT, BGT-WeiDU, DSotSC and NTotSC.

Most of the "500" towns on the map ...

Well, they are part of the map, but they are not part of the interface(as map icons that you can click when they become highlighted).

Thanks for the responses. i knew i could probably use the CLUA, but i just want to be able to go without "cheating". haha i like the use of sense in saying how can i know the way home if i was unconcious. nice. haha anyway, i do have shadows over soubar installed, but i thought i might not be able to tap that quest until BG2 so i never tried. Here is the log...let me know if there are any major errors.
...
~SETUP-BGT.TP2~ #0 #0 // Baldur's Gate Trilogy - Core: 1.08 (13 Oct 09)
~SETUP-BP-BGT-WORLDMAP.TP2~ #0 #0 // Worldmap for Baldur's Gate v7.1 - including colored Baldur's Gate map icons -> New Worldmap for use with Mega Modification...: v7.1

~SETUP-DSOTSC.TP2~ #0 #0 // DSotSC for BGT-Weidu: v215
...

This is a pretty major one. What you should have done, is to install the SETUP-BP-BGT-WORLDMAP as the last mod. Unfortunately for you, if you wish to play the SOS and TS-BP fully, you have to use the console to get to all the places... or reinstall the whole game, as the uninstalling few of the mods will create invalid game.

PS: It's nice to have things like this:

~DRIZZTSAGA/DRIZZTSAGA.TP2~ #0 #1 // Install Worldmap v6 Support

But it would be nicer, if they would be the right versions files... as the BP-BGT-Worldmap v7.1 doesn't need it.

So you pretty much killed the whole thing there, couple times.

Does it exist any link like the one above with the areas not in the original game. I found a link with Umar Hills, Windspear Hills and so on but all other areas do they have any arXXXX??

Thanks for the responses. i knew i could probably use the CLUA, but i just want to be able to go without "cheating".

Unless things have changed horribly (and they probably have), the version of NeJ2 used in a mega-mod has a segment which actually teleports you back to BG1, one of the outdoor areas IIRC.

Otherwise, just *pretend* your party's walking to Nashkel and use CLUA!

In truth, I always been amazed why Worldmap team (or no one else) has created the means to just go walk back to BG1 areas. Pooh-pooh & blah-blah to how easy any encounters would be, I want to reminisce by strolling thru those luscious outdoors areas, talk to old characters, and finally to be able to buy some stuff couldn't afford before in BG city!
