Hello everybody,

I haven' posted a lot before but I have been lurking in the shadows of SHS, pocketplane group and G3 for quite some time. Usually I am able to resolve any problems I encounter with the fabled search function howeverthis time I seem to have drawn a blank. Especially because the webpage is insisting that there is some sort of dataproblem that hinders the search function.
Anyway the problem is, or was, that a while back I was romancing Rivian in Version 0.47 or 0.48 and stumbled across the option to have my character become a bladesinger. As far as I recall there were two requirements to be met. A: Have at least some proficiency with an edged weapon and B: Pay 10.000 gold.
Now I tried this both with a mage having proficiency in daggers and as a fighter with some degree of specilization in... I don't entirely recall if it was long swords but that would make sense for an elven fighter I guess. And in either case I was unable to qualify for the bladesinger kit.

My question is this: Has the option to become a bladesinger been implemented at all and if so, how do I activate it?

Oh and sorry for asking with such a large separation in time. I sort of quit playing BGII due to an increase in intensity of my studies and I don't really want to go through another playthrough only to find out I messed up something.
Apart from that I saw a few bugs and oddities when I played the 0.52 a week ago. But I was unsure if it was caused by installation errors. So I will report more once I finish a second playthrough on a fresh install. Speaking of installation I saw a couple of messages of: "'Filename' not found" or similar during the installation. Is that something that has been edited out and not removed from the installation route or is it something missing at my end?

Finally, I just want to add my praise to the choir because you guys are really doing a fantastic job. Your efforts are much much appreciated!

This might be based on a bad assumption, but I'll still say this:

Rivian was a bladesinger in v0.47 'in name only' as she is an elven Fighter -> Mage...

There was a mod that allows you to become a 'Bladesinger'(it's now included in the 'The Elven Package' mod)... the Rivian's character might have it's base on the mod, but I am prity sure you never had the option to become a Bladesinger as the PC.

Deactivated account. The user today is known as The Imp.

I don't know about this specific mod, but in p&p bladesingers in 2E are a F/M kit. So what Jarno said about Rivian would actually be by the rules.

Yes, I also assumed that the Bladesinger kit/class was somekind of dual class construct. Let me try to clarify:
The thing is that it was brought up in a PC initiated dialogue with Rivian that lead to me having the choice of paying 10.000 gold and thus becoming a "bladesinger". And the requirements I talk about is per what Rivian told me in those dialogues.
My question is not an attempt to acquire a bladesinger by the rules. I am only interested in knowing if above mentioned dialogue is actually leading somewhere or not.
I have never heard of 'the elven package mod' so I am also pretty sure it is not something that is caused by a MOD-cross or installation glitch.
Besides I would assume that if it is possible to create the "Bladesinger" that way it would also be possible to code a dialogue choice to affect the PC class similarly? I have no experience with modding so bear with me if I am not up to speed. :)

And thank you for the quick replies

If memory serves correctly, Rivian never offered to make you a "Bladesinger". What she offered was to give you a lesson or two in the art of bladesinging. If you pay the money she gives you a lesson in the art of bladesinging and your proficiency in your chosen weapon of expertise is increased (by I think 1). You can talk to her again a bit later (and with no additional cost) and get a second lesson which I believe increases your single weapon proficiency by one or two points. This has been an option in the last several versions, but I'm not exactly sure which version it was implemented in, so it might not have been finished in the version you first tried it in.

"Ok, I've just about had my FILL of riddle asking, quest assigning, insult throwing, pun hurling, hostage taking, iron mongering, smart-arsed fools, freaks, and felons that continually test my will, mettle, strength, intelligence, and most of all, patience! If you've got a straight answer ANYWHERE in that bent little head of yours, I want to hear it pretty damn quick or I'm going to take a large blunt object roughly the size of Elminster AND his hat, and stuff it lengthwise into a crevice of your being so seldom seen that even the denizens of the nine hells themselves wouldn't touch it with a twenty-foot rusty halberd! Have I MADE myself perfectly CLEAR?!"

Excellent. You are probably right. I am just glad it wasn't all a figment of my imagination. ^_^

Thanks

I liked the bladesinger from the "elven package" but it wasn't exactly what we wanted. So she is really a dual class as you see.

She won't change you into a bladesinger, as Sam pointed out, she just increases your weapon proficiency (which actually can't be done in BG - I have to replace it, can't increment it). The spells that I use to do this should work and her dialog should trigger them. I haven't tested it in almost a year now. Hopefully nothing is broken in the dialog.
