Hope it's okay for me to start a new topic. Installation does seem to be working in general, but I'm already enountering some errors. I thought it would be easier to find them in a new topic.

Anyway for now one is very minor, but the other seem quite serious (reminds me of a problem I had in TuTu once and it sucked a lot :D):

0. Lvl1NPCs script doesn't activate after pressing R and coming back to the game screen (newly recruited char, AI lantern on). But the exp does equalize so it's probably me who's doing something wrong.

1. I found an item called "An excellent dagger" that has no icon. What mod does it come from and which file may be missing? It works just fine other than that - it appears on a paperdoll, has a description and stats, just no icon   :rolleyes:

2. Ogre Mage summoned by the djinni in the crystal chambers doesn't attack. He just stands there waiting to get slaughtered. In TuTu installation once I had such problem persist to all the mages in the game, which makes me assume it may be something with the SCS AI or whatnot. While the excellent items icons is just a minor annoyance, and this being only about the Ogre Magi would be so too, I'm afraid it will infect all the mages in game which would be just lame <_<
EDIT: Illyich's mage attacks. Good sign  :lol:

3. Illyich runs away from the fight (which is, may I say, terribly easy. And there I was saving all my spells for it (can't rest)) and doesn't attack at all. No idea why. I remember last time there was some trick that they were changing into giants or whatnot. And I also remember the infamous Tactics Deva-Priest with doors that wouldn't be closed [that one actually WAS fun. And very rewarding in terms of A-HA! THERE YOU GO BITCH!]. Neither happens. I used one potion of cure light wounds and they're all dead. Something's wrong.

EDIT: Ok, this is a serious serious bug. I was hoping it may only be the case of the dungeon or something (hope dies last, right?) so I CLUA'd around a few locations to see if others would be fine. The team on the 2nd floor of the Seven Vales Inn was fine - mage had protections on, he started casting spells, rest attacked me. So then I moved to that random encounter with the slaves AR0046 or so, and this time ONLY the mage was doing something. Three others were red but unmoving. The cambion in Irenicus' dungeon was fine (and had an awesome new avatar, by the way). I moved to sewers - some nymph attacked me and she was just as nasty as she should be (immediately charming Minsc and casting spells) but two dwarfs around her (that had names too, Hero Killer something and some other one) were red but idle. Finally I moved up in the sewers to that party I remember gave me quite a pain last time I've played a modded game - the dialog triggered just fine, and then two of them attacked me, while three or so more didn't even go red. Something is seriously messed up and is definitely making the installation unplayable, but I have not even the faintest idea what might be the problem. I'll hold myself from reinstalling until this is resolved, cause I got the feeling it will just be the same.

Erhm, what script? You make the character creation during the installation of the 1200+ components(1201 for Aerie, 1202 Anomen, 1203 Imoen or what ever the numbers were) in the dos window. The Level 1 NPCs script is the one that equals the XP...

1. I found an item called "An excellent dagger" that has no icon. What mod does it come from and which file may be missing? It works just fine other than that - it appears on a paperdoll, has a description and stats, just no icon :rolleyes:

That's probably the already fixed Tutu icon reference in the SCSI component...

3. Illyich runs away from the fight (which is, may I say, terribly easy. And there I was saving all my spells for it (can't rest)) and doesn't attack at all. No idea why. You are definitely talking about the Tactics mods Improved Illyich, not the BWS Tactical install... see they are different things. I think that it might be that the component was cut to make the start of the game a bit easier, so people don't get their behinds handed to them just from the beginning without option to avoid such things and come back. The SCSII makes the no second rest in the first dungeon... so you have to save your spells.

0. From the readme: "After the experience points have been adjusted, the character will have a one-time-only rest script (so that you may fill their spell slots at your discretion). To use this, make sure that the AI lantern in the bottom right corner of the game screen is activated, select the character, and press R. Return to the main screen and your character will now be rested (and you may turn the AI off if you prefer). This script is self-effacing: it will go away if you rest, leave the area, save the game, change party members, or do almost anything else, so if you want to use it, you'd best do so as soon as the experience points have stopped twitching. As a side benefit, it's easy to ignore if you don't want it."

I'm probably just getting wrong. I don't know what they mean here.

1. Already fixed how?

3. Yes, I know that deva-priest-like Illyich came from a Tactics mod that's incompatible with other mods altering the dungeon and that's fine, I can definitely do without it. But something still went definitely wrong as he just runs away to his room and stands there idle like half the other foes in the game... That is the real problem.

The cambion in Irenicus' dungeon was fine (and had an awesome new avatar, by the way).

Well, at least there's proof that Infinity Animations is working :D.

As for the other stuff, most of it seems to be script related. The best way to troubleshoot is download a game editor (DLTCEP or Near Infinity) and search for the creatures, then look at their decompiled scripts. Ilyich's script I suppose would be bpilyich.bcs. The last block has him escaping the area if his hit points are less than 10% and otherwise doesn't seem to have him doing much of anything else. This is from Big Picture (nothing else affects it that I see).

The only cre I see like a "Hero Killer" is Kiel the Hero Killer (ucmgnut.cre). I'm not an expert on scripting but it seems to me the first block in his humansht.bcs script will lead him to do nothing except under certain conditions. This was added by the "NMRCBP.tp2" mod (Nameless Melody Relationship System BP Patch or something). It appears to do nothing else except extend the top of some crucial AI scripts with some NoAction blocks on some rather unnecessary DisplayStrings, though you'll probably never see those strings. Personally, I'd back this mod out of my install and anything linked to it. Should at least be marked as "Expert" (i.e. bugged) if it isn't already.

As for the Excellent Dagger, I don't see anything like that on my install, but it is probably from SCS or Hard Times judging from the name.

Yes :D It's weird though, as it seemed to all be unpacked right by the .vbs and I just had to overwrite all the files, but it did the trick nonetheless :D Is that cambion one of those M-twins from IWD2? Made me wonder :D

Aye, script related indeed. Thing is, Illyich was at full health when escaping and then he just stood there.

Kiel the Hero Killer is his name indeed. I'll try uninstalling that NMR mod and see what happens... Whatever is affecting the scripts though, is definitely off as I'm SURE slavers in ambushes should attack the party. As should Ogre Magi in Irenicus' Dungeon. So even if that Hero Killer (who's still enemy-like red!) doesn't attack by intent, rest is still off <_< I'll see about that Near Infinity but I have 0 to none knowledge of how to use it. I only edited .bcs file with it once (edited as in cut out half of it and rejoiced my lag is gone just to learn that I removed variables that could trigger events in game :lol: )

It's Isair, yes (who is a cambion). Madae is used for alu-fiends in the other component (but then you could tell that from the component names :D).

Scripting is a pain, but see if you can find some of those scripts at least and paste them here in spoiler tags. NI is pretty easy with doing that anyway.

There's SO MANY components around that I must've missed that one on scanning through them. Where are alu-fiends in BG2? I know the game by heart, in general, but I never paid attention to demon names (just know there's cambion, that winged one tanar'ri and some bony one) :)

Ah yes, the intallation went KABOOM (I mean really, bgmain.exe disappeared into thin air :lol:) while trying to uninstall that mod (I have it backed up always so that's not a problem) but I'm going to try to install without that mod... And see if it helps. If it doesn't, I'll run around and collected names of not working creatures and see them in NI :wacko:

Thank you!

EDIT: Found a funny bug with the BiG World installer (the one with GUI) - after loading settings from a file everything seemed to "move" by one slot :D And I mean not only checked windows, but descriptions as well :) Just saying. Not a big deal but pretty confusing :D

Where are alu-fiends in BG2?

There's some in Watcher's Keep (ToB, yes) maybe elsewhere in mods also. One mod at least I know of for sure (Aurora).

NMR makes some changes to some pretty hefty scripts used on a lot of CREs (especially if you've also got BP). Well, you can't uninstall anything if you biffed your game, though I think you can *try* uninstalling generalised biffing. Though it's wise to keep an unbiffed backup somewhere in situations like this, so you don't have to redo everything from scratch.

I have a backup of full unbiffed install though. I've replaced override folder with the unbiffed one before trying to uninstall and it still ate my bgmain :D

Oh well I may try uninstalling once again... Still faster.

If you installed either Aurora or Infinity Animations, there should be a copy of bgmain.exe in both backup/0 folders (you want the latest one, probably the IA version - they both patch it the same way but Aurora's version will be the previous backup before it was patched). Unless something silly like Big World Cleanup deleted them :unsure:.

Edit: both mods' backup folders, that is.

Didn't use cleanup so if it disappears again I'm going to take these! Thanks, didn't know that. So much to learn, so muuuuch to learn to make one game running correctly :lol: My friends think I'm insane struggling with it fourth day...

Ah, nevermind... This installation HATES reinstalls obviously...

Not installed due to errors:
- separate avatars for female dwarves
- bg ii unique thief avatars
- 1pp: unique thief avatars
- aurora shoes and boots (yes my antivirus was off)
- merchants and minor npcs
- infinity animations (cambions component even installed with warnings)
- 7 other mods/components that I'm too lazy to list

So... :lol: I guess complete reinstall it is...

Well, can't tell much without the actual ERROR messages from the mod DEBUG logs, but most if not all those patch the .exe. Then again, they're also all probably installed after NMR and before biffing, so who knows, could be that too.

Honestly, with the installer installing is only as annoying as checking the right boxes (if they move) so that unpacker unpacks them (I don't know how to skip download part, can I?). Other than that it's just milk and honey so I'm gonna spare us both a headache and just reinstall it without that mod. Then I'll worry if it still fails :rolleyes:

Sure, you can spare yourself the download if you
-set the path
-select everything you want
-choose save from the left menu
-exit

Open BiG World Setup\Config\Setup.ini

Set the upper part of Order-section to this:

[Order]
Au3Detect=1
Au3BuildGui=1
Au3Select=4
Au3GetVal=1
Au3CleanInst=4
Au3PrepInst=1
Au3Net=4
Au3NetTest=4

This will skip the selection, backup, download, validation of downloads and start with unpacking.
You may also want to check the batch-scripts coming with the Installpack since they provide solutions for backup & extraction as well. This way you won't have to do these tricks. ;)

Oh, I see :D Thanks!

And on the topic - the new installation free of that mod didn't fix anything - creatures still aren't attacking. But it's actually worse. Everything lags terribly from the very beginning. Even Irenicus cutscene was lagging. Will have bring the old one back and check the creatures later, it seems :(

EDIT:

Okay I seem to have pinpointed the problem with creatures not attacking - I've installed the game again this time chosing BP AI over SCS one and it works, I mean at least ogre mage attacks. I can't really check anything else as the lag is unbearable (it has nothing to do with the AI change though as it appeared one installation before where the only change was not installing that teammates mod).

So now my question is - why doesn't SCS AI work with this install? (WeiDU.log in posts above).
What could possibly suddenly cause the lag? (WeiDU.log here, the one above is lag free).

There doesn't seem to be any additional errors in laggy install, but if someone needs it I shall provide the BiG World debug as well.

Why can't there be progress without regress :mellow:

EDIT:

Biffing override seem to have removed most lag, but it still concerns me quite a bit as it was absent in the previous install and I don't want the problem to suddenly come back...

More questions...:
What is the difference between SCS and BP AI?
If I installed same set of mods again but with different one can I load a savegame played using the old one?

EDIT:

Other creatures I've mentioned before also seem to be attacking fine (checked the slavers, Hero Killer, some more slavers in random encounter). But the sewer team still behaves weird - Half of them attacks, half of them don't, even when Magic Missle'd. Gaius, Zorl and Draug Fea are idle... I guess I have to check them in NI after all.

NEVERENDING FLOW OF EDITS:

Those guys in the sewers attacked me when I teleported back to the sewers to see if I can taunt them... Way beyond my comprehension. Oh hell, it's still all better than what I've got before. If IA will be working (not sure I haven't forgotten to unpack it) I'm going to give it a try. Hopefully, if lag starts/AI won't be awesome compared to the SCS one, I'll just be able to export my save. Riiiight? :lol: Gonna take a risk and try to play through yet again now since I don't expect another reply today and I'm, as always, too impatient for my own good :unsure:

GUESS WHAT, AN EDIT:

Ok so the game crashes at Illyich, but I dare say it's a good sign cause that happens when he uses the duergar enlargement - and so his script now activates. Probably missing some sprite/animation though. Baldur.err tells me nothing at this crash and I don't know where else to check. I think that coponent was coming from improved battles though. Oh well, done for today it seems.

A nice way to have multiple working copies of the same IE game(answer #8). Of course it refers to a clean install, but the same procedure can be use with modified game, as all the modified data is stored in the override folder/.bif files.

Hah, thanks, but I'd be more than happy if I had just one working copy :lol: I don't play pararel games ever anyway, be it on same mods or different, and I don't really know why else would I need working copies. I just multiply backups :rolleyes:

And I've tried to find the answer for that Ilyich on the net and on the forums here but I can't see any so I can't even multiply the working backups for now :crying:

I've also read today PLENTY good stuff about SCS AI... I'd like to have it installed. I'd kick whatever makes it wacky in my install, but I don't know what that is still :mellow: Especially since the mod that adds the duergar denlargement script isn't even here to begin with :mellow:

EDIT:

I found something like this on a Russian forums out there:

BPDUEARC.tra

@0 = ~Duergar Enlargement~
@1 = ~Duergar Reduction~

Whatever this is, it's the thing that crashes my game, I mean the enlargement - animation/sprite is missing. Does that come from Big Picture then? If so - why does it crash? Maybe it has something in common with SCS AI problems? :crying:

EDIT:

I won't find my inner peace before it works...

Anyway I've tried to do another thing - I wanted to install SCSAI without few other mods to see if it will fix the issue. I removed the setup-exe files of these mods and run the installer. Hurray surprise, the setups came back and I've got an installation like the previous one (just more IA, wanted to see what will happen with dw# creatures, and actually I didn't have to copy these files into override anymore?).

Anyway - this is all WAY beyond my logic. This installation works completely differently than others (even though it shouldn't, right? xD) - checked the same points. Right now:

Ogre Mage - attacks. With his sword. Just runs around chasing me with the sword. Not even a mirror image or a magic missle, but he doesn't stand in one place.
Cambion - stands still, all red and pretty with his Isair animation.
Ilyich - no crash, no surprise as he just stands there. His talk-on-sight doesn't even activate, but it's present - appears when I talk to him. 3 dwarfes get red, and then they stand still. Rest is blue.
Slavers in random encounter - they seem to work just fine. Cast spells, attack.
Sewers team - seems to work much better than the last time - they all get red, and most of them even attacks (including casting spells)! Just the one dude Gaius... runs around. Doesn't attack, is red, doesn't stand idle, just wanders around the battlefield.

Isn't it just sweet :lol:

I'll try to redo my not-so-full install plan tomorrow, I guess I'd have to remove tp2 files too since setups just get created anew? Oh well. I think I'm getting close to some faulty-install-number forums record here... -_-

Also, just one little question - I wonder what kind of romance cheats I'm getting installed with the automatic install... cause there are some. I found two files in my folder, and since I don't have Saerlieth I guess it's the other one with some input thing...

Are these the components in the order given in the manual? As in, no racial restrictions, gender restrictions present, multiple romances allowed, romances can be killed, they don't start anew in ToB?

I would like to know cause I'd be in for some surprise if I woke up and suddenly it came out that I have 3 romances active due to uncareful team gathering (I can't say no to them guys unless they're Anomen D:), Tactics, IB, SCS, BP... And my char, Viconia and Imoen to fight improved Bodhi with half of our team. That would be just... :woot:

I've made an almost mod-free installation and it's even more buggy than whatever I had before, I think.

WeiDU.log

Spoiler

Creatures are idle, not attacking, Ilyich doesn't speak and soon after I ctrl+j'd myself near him I got an error:

Exp: pCreature != NULL && creatureSize > 0

Msg: no msg.
Run Debugger?
