Any way to get the game back on track without starting a new BG2 game?

This should be the answer, download the file and remove the .txt extension, put the file into your game_directory's override directory, and run the game... the dialog might be messed up, but that's life.

Messed up strings drive me nuts  and is unacceptable :new_bottom: Fixable by looking at original file in Near Infinity for the string reference and copy/pasting the numbers to the new edit, compile and save. Game Perfection = Life Perfection

Reported the Refinements thing :)

Anyway, the Linkliste might wanna update some stuff ;)

Spell-50 is now in v11

CtB 1.12a & TDD v1.13 at the DHDC (until it uploads properly at SHS ... the SHS CtB says 1.12a but the one you download is still 1.12 :P)

I just checked, my Wildmages are all screwy too. If it were just the class not displaying in the records page properly, it wouldn't be all that bad, but it's a little more than that I'm afraid. As the link someone posted above describes, it causes a ton of items to be disabled and unusable which should be usable by a mage, causes most spell scrolls to appear disabled (but many of them you can still learn despite this), causes a good amount of spell scrolls to be unlearnable (gives you the- "Your spell school does not permit you to learn this spell." message), and you don't get the Refinements specialist HLAs for the kit, just those of a generalist Mage.

From what I understand, when one of your party members is some kit/class, the scripts in Refinements check to give them Refinements' duplicated kits/classes ... apparently, something's going wrong and so, vanilla Wildmages are being assigned Refinements' Mage kit :o

So, your wildmage BECOMES a mage (or if lucky, you roll a barbarian :D)

Whoever has the wildmage problem, please post a changelog for KIT.IDS. KITLIST.2DA is not that important at this time. That will cover usability but I think the problem is in the KIT.IDS.

First one to do so gets a :cookie:

~SETUP-D0QUESTPACK.TP2~ 0 11 // IO2 Dialogue & Combat Enhancement

:cookie:
From Lollorian's is suspect as I remember having to do some switcher-oo and that may have been cued by BWP to do so. I am sure if it was still a problem BWP wouldn't toss the fix.

00028: ~SETUP-D0QUESTPACK.TP2~ 0 11 // IO2 Dialogue & Combat Enhancement

From AndrewB's
:cookie:

Same as above.

I hear also that Divine Remix is "fixing" the KIT.IDS or am I mistaken? Seems strange that it would fix something that was supposedly fixed well by the fixpack. I could be wrong about the QuestPack (I thought it was Tweaks earlier) but let us look at it's code and compare what it is doing.

If there were problems with D0Quest code in the past and DR is doing the same thing, that could be where it got blown this time around. I only installed DR once and I wasn't tearing stuff apart at that time ;)

The only way I really fixed the issue before was install some mods and try Wildmage. Install some more and try wildmage and in my result was the Combat component of D0QP and its fix to the KIT.IDS where things got ugly. Then I uninstalled that, backed up my KIT and KITLIST files that were good, installed D0QP again and restored my files. Worked better than it was.

This is an extremely arduous process but is what needs to be done when testing compatibility with these mods and finding what the hell is wrong. An "all together now" automatic installation of "dumping" everything together in whatever refined method it does looks good on paper but I want things to be stable my way, not the "Successfully Installed" across the board and waiting for problems like useless Wildmages.

At least we have a direction now concerning WildMages!.

I would ask the bigg as to what KIT.IDS has got the seal of approval with Refinements, everything else that tries to fix the "fixed" vanilla IDS, short of adding new kits, is dumped (commented out) and never to be seen again, in the most polite and ethical sense of course :P .

That would be my advice and it was basically that attitude that got things to work for me. Still playing that megamod too after 2 years and kicking asses with Wildmages, that is how good everything works.

The problem here is that not everyone will see the error right away. maximus2001 said he noticed it meeting Zaiya from a Baldur's Gate 2 mod. If a player doesn't even try to play a Wildmage, three months later they find out their game is screwed.

I took a look at the kit.ids changelog files. Aside from BP trying to change barbarians to 0x401F which got reverted back to 0x0000 later, nothing changed any of the vanilla kits from their fixed values. However, I did notice a couple other out-of-order things:

Neh'Taniel does some weird stuff after it adds its SK#JUDKN kit.
APPEND ~kit.ids~ ~0x0000 JUDICIAL_KNIGHT~
 UNLESS ~\bJUDICIAL_KNIGHT\b~

COPY ~Neh'taniel/SK#JUDKN.2da~ ~override/SK#JUDKN.2da~	// Altered 2DA table
The COPY is not needed since the ADD_KIT command will take care of copying the file over. I have no idea why the APPEND is there.

Andyr's Feralan kit from UB and Divine Remix is referenced as A#FERALAN. When a mod later comes by and tries to fix kit.ids, the well-intentioned REPLACE_TEXTUALLY ~.*\bFERALAN\b~ ~0x4007 FERALAN~ will actually replace both the FERALAN entry and the A#FERALAN entry, which is not good.

That gives us more insight but only affects Feralan correct, whichever one it may be?

Just a heads up, TDDv13 causes a wait for keypress at the end of its install.
This could be an issue for people who walk away once the install .bat gets under way.
Not a big issue though. Just would suck to leave for 12 hours only to come back and find the install paused 10 minutes in... (luckily didn't happen to me) :P

SoS, TS-BP, RoT and CtB all do the same thing and TS_BP gives three or four readmes to plow through with the ENTER key. BWP modifies the BAT files with the above listed mods and TDD pre-1.13. This readme command is brand new.

I actually added the README at the end of TIS-BIFF as it never had one displayed and wanting to keep it similar to SoS, CtB and the like. The WeiDU readme command wasn't working for me in this stack install so it is what it is.

Typo in the BWPGuide, having effects in the Install.bat too :P

It says that Daulmakan's Item Pack's components 3 & 4 overwrite items, but I find that components 2 & 3 are the ones that overwrite  (which makes component #4 - Distinguishable Items to not be installed even though it patches )

EDIT: Could someone tell me which components of Jarl's Tweak Pack don't have any effect if installed in the English game?? :) Many of his tweaks look cool! But I'm afraid I might start seeing stuff in german :P

And not trying to be disrespectful or anything but ... this, the comment after BG2Tweaks' component 3170

This component must be installed if the Valen-Mod is installed, otherwise Valen jerks in the Underdark.

I really really rofled hard!!
