hand-holding is still nice, sometimes. You can take SCS and SCSII off the list of mods that modify the executable, if you like: they only do it via ToBEx now. (Well, unless you explicitly disable it when installing SCS, but people who know how to do that don't need hand-holding!)

I would of course not be installing this initially to create my stable backup, is it ok to do so after and then the bgmain.exe i paste back in can restore things back to vanilla right?

You get a clean install if you remove the game folder and then replace it with the backup. Yes, the whole game folder...Quick question: Are the effects of this, and indeed any other .exe modifying 'mods' permanent, in the sense that I cannot get a clean install via this method ?
It's easier to copy the whole folder... than few dozen individual files that might or might not be get modified depending what you exactly do, as then you have to remember what folders are OK to delete etc.
Also you can have multiple working copies of the games, this way... so you might as well.

What do you mean exactly? Currently, I just copy the 5 things listed in the link i gave: Bgmain.exe, chitin.key, dialog.tlk, baldur.ini, and the override folder. That is my backup.
Are you saying that is not enough? I should be copying the whole BGII - SoA folder as my backup?

Well, you need to know exactly the content of the data folder, so there's no extra files, and you probably should also have the "Baldur.key", and that backup doesn't have those. And you probably don't want to have not uninstalled mod folder in the game folder when you extract their newer versions to the game folder.... all that's to say that it's easier to just copy the game folder and the pack it up into a .rar file for example, the WinRar is faster at extraction, than your computer is able to copy the files from a folder. What do you mean exactly? Yes, that does make sense. Thanks, and perhaps that many-years-old thread I use should be updated. It's a useful idea (having a backup) and that post is one I see oft-referenced.
Sorry for going off-topic, i'll be off now, and thanks to the author of the ToBex mod!

It appears the associated STO files for the bag ITM files are missing for some reason. Good that TobEx reported the error, but you would have to save the game and look in your save using NearInfinity (NI) or DLTCEP to find which bag you have (e.g. BAG04.ITM) and then check to see if the corresponding bag file (e.g. BAG04.STO) exists in your game (it may be BIFFed or in the override folder). NI or DLTCEP utilities can help you track these down.

It happens with bags of holding, scroll cases, and book bags. I am using the big world project to install files, and I had already restored my clean install before I read this post. I unselected some stuff, like unique containers and other container related tweaks other than the one that adds them to bgt, but if it further altered them I took it out. I really hope this works, and if it does I will be sure to let you know.
P.S. Just to be clear, TOBEX is NOT what is causing the crashes, but it is telling me what is causing them. If that's the case, thank you for making this man, if I did not know what was making this happen, I would have just deleted my game and forgot about it.

I have completed the new install minus the excess container mods. I can now put things into a container without it crashing, but whenever I try to put an exotic item (katana, ninja-to) into one, it crashes. This is the error message I get.
CLUAConsole:CreateItem("clck17",X)
This is what shows up when I select-all copy and paste from my TOBEX window. I really don't understand it, as I have never entered that command into the console. Please advise.

I'll continue a thing that Frustrated7 started about container's bug.
This bug occures in multiplayer on the client side. This bug occures when I speak to someone who has a store.
ASSERTION FAILED! Return Address: 0x6444E0 File: CStore.cpp Line: 241 Expression: pData != NULL Message: (null)
This bug stopped when I set
Optimise Bag Search Code=0in TobExCore.ini.
So it's definitely TobEx issue.
I hope this information is helpful.

I don't rightly know if this is the part to ask about errors concerning ToBEx. Recently, I reinstalled my game which included RR and SCSII. It goes to follow that ToBEx would be installed. Midway through a No-Reload run, Kangaxx was able to damage me with ADHW even though I had my Magic Damage resistance set to 127.
Confused, I reinstalled everything. It still happened in the opening dungeon on a test character using a Prot. from Magic Energy scroll via Imoen's Magic Missile. Thinking that a general resistance problem was taking over the game, I created a ring that gives 100 to every resistance. Every resistance was tested and yielded no damage. Magic resistance blocked Magic Missile, but that's just magical blocking, not magical damage blocking.
Anyway, I have a link to my post over at the Social Bioware Forums, if it's ever alright to link off-site. I'm still in the process of checking everything before messing with my .ini files. I don't think it's time for that yet.
Also, if it would help, Alesia_BH also pointed out that it happened to her on a v19 install, but when she transferred her save to a v15 install, it was gone again. I am in the process of looking for said version's readme/changelog to see if something happened along the way.
Thanks everyone. Will come back every few hours or so to check up on this. Oh, and the link to the various posts are here:
Original character, lvl39, etc: Here
Replication attempt: Here
All the other resistances: Here
Hoping for a swift reply. Also, do pardon me if this has been resolved already. In the case that it has been, please point me to the right direction. Thank you very much.

I believe Aliesa_BH's reference to v19 and v15 was the SCS version number. (To those unfamiliar with it, SCS v15 didn't rely on TobEx and SCS v19 does. Well, sort of... SCS v19 installs TobEx (beta19) by default unless you specifically disable it before install.)Also, if it would help, Alesia_BH also pointed out that it happened to her on a v19 install, but when she transferred her save to a v15 install, it was gone again.

Midway through a No-Reload run, Kangaxx was able to damage me with ADHW even though I had my Magic Damage resistance set to 127.
This seems to be caused by the Damage Fix setting. You can resolve it by going to your TobEx_ini folder and editing TobExCore.ini with Notepad. Change this line:
Damage Fix=1
to this:
Damage Fix=0
It should get rid of the problem.

Noted the store issue and will have another look.
Re: Magic Damage Resistance
What if you completely disable TobEx (rename TobEx.dll to something else)? Is there still an issue?
I'm pretty sure it isn't Damage Fix that is the issue, since all it does is fix
1. Killing someone with magic fire damage would cause a WEIRD damage assertion failure 2. Hitting someone with magic cold damage would not play a hit sound@Saint of Sinners: Can you post your textual contents of the WeiDU.log file found in your installation directory?

Also, setting Disable ToBEx to 1 and reinstalling SCSII removes the glitch. However, most of the benefits I've been enjoying and using with ToBEx also disappears. It's kind of a lose-lose either way so far. I'm trying to check if Beta 0020 can actually solve it by overwriting the ToBEX_redist folder of SCSII with Beta 0020's. Will update soon enough.
Thank you very much. Hoping for the best.

I updated my ToBEx to beta0020. Still, the magic damage problem persists. Here are a lists of combinations I did with the installs and their respective results:
- SCSII v19 = damage is still there
- SCSII v19, Disable ToBEx 1, reinstall = damage gone
- SCSII v19, Disable ToBEx 0, reinstall = damage returns
- SCSII v19, Disable ToBEx 0, renamed ToBEx.dll to ToBExdisable.dll = damage gone
- Fresh BG2 ToB install, patched, Disable ToBEx 1 before SCSII install, SCSII v19 install = damage gone
- Fresh BG2 ToB install, patched, Disable ToBEx 0 before SCSII install, SCSII v19 install = damage there
- Fresh BG2 ToB install, patched, SCSII v19 install, ToBEx beta0020 install = damage there
- Fresh BG2 ToB install, patched, SCSII v19 install, ToBEx beta0020 install, ToBExdisable.dll = damage gone
At this point, it is fairly safe to assume that ToBEx causes the problem. Right now, I'm playing it again with the modifications I've posted in post #479 with ToBEx.dll renamed to ToBExdisable.dll. The game is working fine, but ToBEx is, well, gone. Which is kind of a big thing, really.
Hopefully, this helps you as you update along with ToBEx. This has also been experienced by at least two more players over at the Bioware forums. One settled for SCSII v15, while the other installed SCSII v19 but with Disable ToBEx 0. Really praying to pin this one down.
Again, thank you for your time. All the best.
Monty
EDITED: As per Anonymous_Hero's post. I interchanged Disable ToBEx 0 with Disable ToBEx 1.
