I agree...at best its going to be an hour or two of gameplay...though I am sure it will be done quite well and all...I just wish they would last longer gameplay wise

Yeah, I wish they just took more time and developed some major DLC instead.

I'm afraid a major DLC would be like dwarven quests - lots of long tedious dungeon crawling with zero interaction and constant battles. At least Warden's Keep had story and cutscenes, and Stone Prisoner DLC had a demon sidestory, a Shale story and lots of Shale banters.

I hate to ask, but... am I the only one here wishing they'd leave well enough alone, and fix the bugs instead of churning out DLCs? (aside from Shale, of course  ) Seems to me like that should be their top priority... *shrug*

Hey, at least they do a better job at fixing bugs than some other developers *cough* Bethesda *cough*. ;)

Date confirmed as January 5th here.

Back from the brink.

Like RPGs? Like Star Wars? Think combining the two would be fun? Read Darths and Droids, and discover the line "Jar Jar, you're a genius".

These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth's foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.

Good. Then it'll be here by the time I get back from Egypt - if my planes don't crash, that is.

What surprises me is "Cailan's political agenda". The man's spent five years just serving as a figurehead, while his wife and her father ruled the country! And was a right cheating bastard during these five years, too, judging by Anora's words. What kind of agenda would he have? Toy soldiers?

"Cailan's Ferelden was cursed by stability". Honestly! I may be a cynic, but I firmly belive that a king who thinks like this should be deposed at once. Before he does doom his country.

I'm sure it's something dark and gritty, e.g. he wanted to become the only power in Ferelden, abolishing the power of banns, arls and other teyrns alike. That and establishing hereditary monarchy.

Looking at Ferelden as a semi-equivalent to Europe of the Middle Ages, having a king like that without major opposition seems all too likely.

I wouldn't vouch for it being real though, maybe it's just Edwin talking, hoping for something elaborate. ;)

Edit: Typo

Well, they have feudal midaevil England = Fereldan, looks like monarchist fuedal France = Orleas (I keep lpelling it Orleans, and wonder when the Duke of Burgundy is going to show up with "dragonnes" (canons) and blast the garbage out of stuff; Tervinter Imperium = HRE? Or perhaps the good old RE? The Guilds are a straight reread of Machiavellian Italy, the Qunari could be Norse, Franks, Gauls, or perhaps a variant on the Hun... interesting reinterpretations, and fun to play. It leaves all sorts of room for sidequests and expansion material.

Looking forward to the expansion, even if it ends up being a modified meat-fest. I don't mind short, polished DLC that camn give us models for integrating our own stuff. I just wish I could afford Claudia Black for VO.

Well, at the price of slightly more than a single pint of Guinness, it has to be worth it. And it will last a lot longer too.

I've a few Bioware points I've been hoarding, and I'm eager to see what it has in store in for us.

I'm not buying the whole "Cailan was plotting to become the only power in Ferelden, abolishing the power of banns, arls and other teyrns alike" plot. And wasn't Ferelden already under the hereditary monarchy regime? I know it's only the second generation, but still. And I was always under the impression that the Landsmeet was usually mostly for show. For what I understood from the codex entries, a Landsmeet is held on an annual basis, and mostly counsels the King, and doesn't have real power. But all gubernatorial mechanics put aside, Cailan never struck me as the manipulative type (from what little we see of him in the game).

Yeah, well, the plot it just something I came up with. BioWare probably won't make it so...

Return to Ostagar is indefinitely delayed. From a post by Chris Priestley on the DA:O forums.

In other news, Dragon Age: Awakening has a scheduled release date of March 16th. There's a page (currently blank) for it on the web site, and some information here from Gamestop.

Back from the brink.

Word from Chris Priestly on the matter:

For people who were wondering what happened:

We found a last minute issue and had to delay Return to Ostagar to make sure we deliver the highest quality experience to you, our fans.

We will update once we have more information regarding the new date. We are working to get Return to Ostagar out to you as soon as possible.

Thanks for your patience.

I was all that hyped up about going back to Ostagar anyways: I'd rather go forwards (Awakening, anyone?) than revisit old haunts. Well, wait and see, I guess.
