The cmd will pop out once the BWS has downloaded, then extracted all the mods "that it can see" :P Even if the cmd comes up, it'll pause to let you choose the language :D You should manually extract the mods you downloaded at that time ... and THEn choose a language.

I dunno if putting it in the Downloads folder will work though, but best bet would be extract them manually :D The BWS will extract everything it downloads by itself ;)

Cheers,
Lol

Thanks again!

Does it matter that i have already downloaded the defective and extracted their folders at the C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA folder?

My fantasy story

Unless the BWS extracts those mods again (if it downloaded them, which isn't the case for you :P) no problem

I think your Wheels of Prophecy Fix in the Fix Pack is broken, after the patch is installed and the mod tries to execute I get an area when setup is run and the debug file contains the following:

I've done some more poking on Wheels of Prohecy, the problem seems to be on line 11 on the patch.

+ COMPILE_BAF_TO_BCS~

Looking at the rest of the Wheels of Prophecy file the ~ should be removed.

Installing right now... is it normal for the CMD window to pause at the:

Creating 1 directory
Copying 1 file...

portion of the generalized biffing for a really long time (like, going on over an hour now)?

The widescreen mod is not included in the "recommended" and "minimum" sections - just standard and above. You'll have to add it manually to the list when performing the setup if you use the former.

That said, I recommend you first test the widescreen mod on a clean install and then uninstall it prior to BWP, so you can figure out which resolution is optimal for your setup. I like 1440x900 for instance (I have a 24" 1920x1200 monitor), but had to add that resolution to windows as well in order to get it work. That way you, you avoid issues like that. If you have to reinstall the widescreen mod to change to a different resolution after installing BWP, it's going to take a long time to reapply it because it goes through all the other mods as well.

Yes, that's normal. Don't close it or shutdown your computer.

Oh, one last question... I'm doing this in order to play on multiplayer game with some friends over the internet, and the install process is complicated enough that I know a couple of my comp-unsavvy friends would botch it, despite it not really being all that complicated :P Is it possible, once the install is complete and everything is biffed and cleaned up, for the entire BG2 directory to just be transferred to other comps and/or burned onto DVDs and played straight from the folder without actually being installed? I recall that the folders could be moved wherever and however with BG1 and IWD and that, as long as the .ini files were modified such that the paths were all correct, but I'm not sure if that's still the case with BG2.

Thanks!

I'm actually not absolutely sure either, but I think you might need the registry entries as well. The simplest way to ensure that it works is to first do a minimum install to get the registry set properly, and then copy all the files over to the destination folder and overwrite everything. The paths in the .ini files will also need to be adjusted if those are not the same. You'll also want to copy/retain the uninstall info from the old .ini file to the new one. Copying the files like you suggest also ensures that you all have the exact same version and mod configuration.

If you want to change the widescreen settings, please be aware that it'll trigger the rebiffing and take a while to finish.

Everything seems to have installed ok! Played thru a little and nothing broke or crashed, so hopefully that's a good sign :) And WOW does the game ever look good with that widescreen mod! Speaking of which, however, i find that my eyes are strained a little too much with 1920x1080 :( I need to put it down to 1600x900 I think, however, I can't seem to find the widescreen setup .exe, and you mentioned that it would require rebiffing... how do you go about changing the widescreen mod settings?

Yep, since the BWP-modded game doesn't require the CD, it's only a matter of copying the entire folder to THE SAME PATH where it is on the original PC (otherwise, you may need to edit the paths under the [Alias] section of the baldur.ini) :P

how do you go about changing the widescreen mod settings?

^_^ If you biffed, it'd be better to reinstall :P (since the biffing takes a LOTTA time ... like your guest posts mention) Btw, post your WeiDU.log and a compressed BiG World Debug.txt to nick out any errors that ya got (so that your reinstall works better than this one :P)

Cheers,
Lol

First check and make sure that 1600x900 is a valid resolution in the display options in Windows. If it's not, you'll have to add it there first using your display driver.

After that, simply run the setup-widescreen.exe file from the BG2 folder and select re-install when you get to that option.

I think he was asking to change his in-game resolution from 1920x1080 to 1600x900 :P If I misunderstood, my bad :D

Ah, that's something many guys around here won't recommend. The problem here's that you've already "biffed" your installation, so reinstallng anything that installed before biffing might as well f-up your game  (widescreen and worldmap ... these 2 shouldn't usually be reinstalled :P)

Cheers,
Lol

Right. The problem is that if a game resolution is not also a valid resolution in Windows, the widescreen mod won't work properly.

Wouldn't reinstalling any mod (not just widescreen and worldmap) have the same effect though? I have re-installed the widescreen mod once, and things did appear to work - mind you I didn't really test that much of the game. If there's anything that breaks later I wouldn't know.

The logic here isn't that something WILL break :D It's that, IF something breaks in those 2 mods, the game becomes unplayable ;) (if something breaks in say ... the Item Upgrade Mod, the game's still playable, but you'll miss content :D)

Ok, the known WoP error's there (so it didn't install :P)

Other than that, there's these 2 things: (1Sylm and tb#quest)
[1Sylm\Zy1800\Zy18EWRD.BAF] PARSE ERROR at line 122 column 8-64
Near Text: )
[CheckStat] argument [WIZARD_PROTECTION_FROM_NORMAL_WEAPONS] not found in [Stats.IDS]

So, if ya didn't get greedy  with the resolution, you'd have a perfectly good game :coolthumb: (ya might wanna take flinx's word on it and try to reinstall though )
