Well your Player Character should start at level 1 with 0 XP, so something gets fried somewhere... upload the "BiG World Debug.txt" -file, put do put it into a .zip or the kind archive(.7z, .rar), so it only takes about 1 tenth or less of the actual space.Hi everyone. Installed BWS 8.2 standard with manually selected mods (i guess i should avoid problems as i choose "save" mods. i guess, again). The problem i've got is that in the beginning of the game (in candlekeep) 'charname' gets level up. And he levels up to 6 level. Imoen follows maddnes and gets level 6 too.
Is this because of Level 1 npc mod?

Works with any form of BG2 with BGT, mods or TC's.
I always wondered why BWP didn't use the original CFOW by hlidskialf but mine will not add area script blocks so his was a little limited. This doesn't do anything to line of sight but all areas will be explored through the deafault AI script.

I spent the 6 or so hours downloading and installing, but I see no difference in the game...
Installed:
BG1
Tales
BG Tales 5512 patch
-created character-
BG2
ToB
BG2 ToB 26498 patch
-created character-
downloaded BiG World download (took a couple hours)
installed BiG World Setup v8.2 exe
3 or 4 hours of DOS later...(it said this, that, and many others were installed successfully)
launched BG Tales....went as far as Nashkell, but see no differences...same BG1 screen etc.
What did I miss?
- EDIT -
I'm guessing I installed it all to the wrong place...
On the screen that asks where BG1 is, I drilled down to that location
The (same) screen asks where BG2 is, and I drilled down to that location
Then it asks where BiG World should be...I *thought* I saw it say to install stuff to the BG2 directory (and when I explore, I see a boatload of stuff there...)
Pretty sure I should have installed it elsewhere, eh?

You need to start a new game in BGII (BGI is now inside BGII )
Cheers,
Lol
Will I start at Candlekeep, as in BG1?
Also, I had a character in BG1 that I exported...can I import her?
and can I use her custom portrait? where does it go, and what are the dimensions I ned to make it for BiG World?

Large (epilogue) -> 210x330and can I use her custom portrait? where does it go, and what are the dimensions I ned to make it for BiG World?
Medium -> 110x170
Small -> 38x60
Should be in .bmp format and have 8-letter names ending with L, M and S for the large/medium/small sizes (ABCDEFGL.bmp, ABCDEFGM.bmp, ABCDEFGS.bmp). Put them in your BGII - SoA\portraits folder and choose custom portrait when you create the character.

Well, technically you play the BG2 game(as the .exe you started the game belongs to BG2) when the BGT is installed on it, but you indeed start at Candlekeep at level 1 wit zero XP.Yes!Will I start at Candlekeep, as in BG1?

Thanks for your answer. Here is my debug file.
[EDITED]
I restored again from backup my bgt game and suprisingly (at least for me ) everything's fine now. Started new game my main char is in spellhold. No level up. Imoen didn't want to level up too. I really couldn't explain what did i mess up before because i haven't changed anything in that game. Sorry for bothering you guys.

I really like to use customized portraits.
I've had no problem with Imoen and my own character, but I am having problems with Jaheira...
HISTORY:
When I initially created my character in vanilla BG1 (w/Tales), I used the Jaheira pic. So Jaheira was assigned another pic. I was able to change the Jaheira pic in vanilla BG1 using "WOMAN2L" and "WOMAN2S".
I imported my character into BiG World (with my custom pic).
Now that I am trying BiG World, I cannot get Jaheira's pic to change.
I've tried "NJAHEIRL", "NJAHEIRM", AND "NJAHEIRS", as well as "NWOMAN2L", "NWOMAN2M", and "NWOMAN2S".
("NIMOENL" etc worked for Imoen in BiG World...)
Any idea what would the correct name for changing Jaheira's pic would be at this point?

Well, if you used an exported char, the character is already leveled up, so the BGT doesn't edit the XP... which is why Imoen would level up etc.I restored again from backup my bgt game and suprisingly (at least for me ) everything's fine now. The pictures normal names are NJAHEIRS.bms, NJAHEIRM.bms, NJAHEIRL.bms, but the BWS will change that a dozen times, so the exact portrait name can be hard to come by, so I would suggest that you use the 'Near Infinity' to search the .cre file, open it and look at the 'Small portrait' line in the edit.I have another portrait question, please...
Any idea what would the correct name for changing Jaheira's pic would be at this point?
@AuspiciousAugur: I don't know the real answer, but part of it is that you do indeed need to install it after BWS has done most of it's work, I would suggest to try to install it before the BWS uses the General Biffing, but it's not a huge deal if you do not.

Running the PC all night long is very annoying because this one is very loud.
I want to propose to implement an auto-shutdown-function into the next release of the BWP install.bat so that it would shut the PC down after the installation. I wouldn't shut it down the PC in general but implementing this as an option would be very comfortable and easy to implement (I think so).
If this does not belong here I am sorry.
What do you think about this and would you implement this some day?

shutdown -s -t 5 -f -c "Shutdown sequence..."at the end of the batch is all you need.
So you can do it yourself -- very easy.
Or is this a real common problem for people?

Well, it's not so common, but when you consider that the Windows power saving options(auto-log-off) can go on during the BWS if they are active(so they need to be disabled) as the user is not present 'moving his mouse' while the BWS program does it's job... the idiots at 'Macro HardTM' programmed the auto-log-off wrongly... it can be a power drainage. So... "Optional tags: -never a bad thing."Or is this a real common problem for people?

Isn't the BPSeries KI scripts some kinda enhanced version of those??Is the eSeries mod compatible and/or advisable to install post the main installation?
Maybe for people with blindingly fast systems (or for very short custom installations) As far as I'm concerned, my pc takes 7 hrs or somethingOr is this a real common problem for people?
(btw, in BWS9, is the install.bat still used?? ... or more clearly, would editing the .bat like that have any effect on the BWS9?? Not the current one )
Cheers,

Yeah, I figured that myself. But! I don't want this to happen every time I install BWP
Therefor I asked if this could be included as an optional feature.
e.g. a checkbox in the GUI
new question:
Can I put this
shutdown -s -f -c "BWP install finished"somewhere so that I don't have to put it in every install.bat that I run manually?

And why is adding the line such a bother?
Put
echo "line to append" >> "file to append text to"in a batch and it should append the line to an existing file.
Same work if you ask me...
@Lol: I won't answer questions you already know the answers to.
@"Optional"
And by the way:
Why the hell does the BWP not make any coffee during the installation?
And why isn't there an option for tea, icecream, soda and beer?

Anyhoo, now, would it be a good idea for the BWP to have its own forum section now?? Seeing how this forum has plenty of threads that are standard right now:
Main BWP thread (this one )
BWS Thread
BWS Development Thread
BWFixpack Thread
Next BWP Thread
BW-Balancer Project (3 threads)
Biffing Revision Project
(and since the BWP already has its own download section, why not?? )
So, what say everyone??
Cheers,

Well,I've always wondered (well, since I discovered BWP six months ago atleast ) why there wasn't a separate forum for it. It is actually quite easy to visit the SHS forums to find info on playing a modded BG, and never even discover there is such a thing as the BWP. It's kind of hidden away if you ask me.
This was the BP-BGT forum. When the BWP came out and there was talk of a forum for it and seeing that the old needs had changed, I said this was it. At the time I don't think we saw that 'the BWP' install formula become the standard and suppress all others. There are still other valid install orders, but the BWP seems the most stable and best supported! The name Mega Mod seemed to fit the general needs for the forum. If the consensus is that the name should be changed to BWP Help that would be fine with me.
I guess the real question is which is least confusing a BWP forum, which players may take for a particular mod and not support for Mega install help, or a Mega Mod forum, when looking for help with a BWP install. I would be interested in hearing from people new here or back after a long absence, if they had trouble finding where to get support for there Mega Mod. It should be remembered that many people wish to have a Mega Mod, but have not heard of the BWP and would miss looking here.
