Hi @ all. :)
I have a problem leaving Waukeen's Promenade: if I try to travel away, the slums are greyed out. If I use the CLUAConsole to move the party there, the plot continues as usual but going back to the Promenade requires a 20 hours travel starting from every other district in the city, and the same to leave the Promenade again - instead of the usual 0 hours travel.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Huh. Now that hasn't happened to me in quite some time. It did occur in the past, though.

The only solution I'd know of would be fixing the relevant areas using Near Infinity. Do you know how to do this?

On another note, if this is a trilogy game, I hope you still have a save in the BG1 part of the game to go back to, because fixing files with Near Infinity doesn't work retroactively. Meaning you'd end up with a permanently buggy Promenade if you don't have one.

EDIT: On another note, you could just attach your log and spare everyone some scrolling. ;)

Yes, it's a trilogy run, and unfortunately I do not have a save prior to the start of BG2. :( I saved and quit before the circus' quest, then did that one and found out the problem.

I've checked the area with NI and it doesn't differ from the one I have in my test folder (BG2fixpack and BGT, nothing more) so I don't know what I'd have to modify. The scripts are different - or rather, AR0700.bcs has been modified by some mod but with a quick scrolling it seems those are only additions. How did you solve this?

Next time I'll be sure to attach the log instead of copy pasting. :D

Thanks for the reply. :)

It sounds like a problem with the worlmap (worldmap.wmp). The file is stored as a separate file in your save, but if you have a save from before going to the worldmap screen, it is possible it hasn't been stored yet. If it has, it might be possible to "fix" the save by overwriting the faulty worldmap with a fixed one.

You can have a look at the file and see if there are link entries connecting Waukeen's Promenade with the other Athkatla areas, and vice versa.

When I try to open the worldmap.wmp file in my current install (both the general one, or one from the four saves I have) NI just displays a white page - doesn't even displays the tabs to view or edit it, like it instead does when I open the worldmap in my test install.. :(

EDIT: in the test install NI loads the worldmap and everything else fine, not only the tabs.

Can't tell you word for word right now because I'm in the middle of reinstalling*, so I don't want to risk anything by opening NI. Basically, I just modified the adjacent areas - I think that's what it's called - part, interconnecting the different areas of Athkathla. Make sure that the Promenade is connected to the Slums and each area has at least one next to it and it should work. Did for me, at least.

If this is incomprehensible right now, I'll give a proper rundown later, when I can actually use NI myself again.

Of course, maybe you could look into that script, too. But I'm unlikely to be able to help with that.

*:I'm still not sure whether I should consider myself lucky for finding out that Tyris Flare updated right after my installation was done, considering that I want to try her out this time.

If you want to upload the file, I can have a look at it. If nothing else, it should tell us if the file is really broken or not.

I think that's some legacy thing from BG1. From what I can tell (by checking 3 BG2 areas), those fields are blank in BG2 areas.

Yeah, but it's apparently still in the engine. At least it worked for me.

Of course, it's only a way around the problem.

I've tried linking AR0700 to AR0400 and the other way around in a test save, but it didn't help. The travel time is still 20 hours and it still doesn't make the slums reachable from the waukeen promenade without cluaconsole. :(

I've attached the worldmap.wmp file.

Thanks. :)

Yeah, as I said, it won't work if you've already visited the area. But if you run into the same problem in other areas, this method may help.

Damn, I thought decompressing the save and modifying the area on the fly would've worked anyway. Hope to find another solution then..
(I edited the saved area file, not the general one in the override dir.)

You did recompress the edited files, right?

I can't find anything wrong with the worldmap. Dunno why it won't open in NI, but it looks alright and it opens and checks out in DLTCEP. Waukeen's Promenade has its links to the Slums and there is at least one link leading from the Slums back to Waukeen's.

If you feel up to it, you can start a throwaway new game and see if you can reach the Slums in that.

It's the same even with a newly created game.

EDIT: I noticed that if I try to leave the Waukeen's Promenade by the northern edge of the map, I get to go to the gate district, actually appearing on the northern side of the district like when you get inside the city from afar (De Arnise Hold, Trademeet and the like). I can then go back to Waukeen's Promenade and go wherever I wish. Anyway, traveling from the Promenade to any other district takes up 20 hours.

Is that with or without edited are files?

What about xnewarea.2da and the link 2das (e.g. xl3000.2da) specified therein? Are they different from the standard files (found in e.g. the IESDP) and if so, which mods have altered them?

Without the edited files.

xnewarea.2da is slightly different from the one I have in my test dir, but only for the LOCX and LOCY columns, modified only by BGT and the worldmap mod. xl3000.2da is identical in both my current and in my test installs.

Hi,

Same problem here  with only few mods (btw, if relevant, same worldmap version) : I can only leave the Promenade from North-West door and can only go to the City Gate (travel time 20 hours too). But it doesn't really matter

Hope this helps.

I remember using the Worldmanp v7.1 in other installs and it worked ok. The only difference, my current install is the only one with which I used the BWP Fixpack v8.0 - Fouinto, did you use the Fixpack too? Just to have a lead on where may be worthwhile giving a look.
