Dragon Age: Origins Toolset - Maybe this thread would warrant a pin as well?

Latest news - Toolset 101: The Dragon Age toolset has been updated to version 1.01:

A new version of the toolset has been posted for download. This is not a patch, it is a brand new installer. What this means is that YOU WILL LOSE YOUR EXISTING WORK IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THE STEPS LISTED AT: http://social.biowar...abase_migration

If you are upgrading from version 1.00 of this toolset and have database content that you wish to migrate into the new version, you will need to follow a special sequence of steps to preserve it. Builder-to-builder files (extension DADBDATA) are not compatible between the first released version of the toolset and subsequent versions. See http://social.biowar...abase_migration for more details.

Please read the information found at http://social.biowar...ing_the_toolset for more details about how to install the toolset.

Oh, and by the way, this version contains the full single player database resources!

The Dragon Age Toolset is now available for downloading by registered Dragon Age: Origins owners.

You can learn more about the Dragon Age Toolset and how to download it HERE.

Edit: Update December 15th

I suppose this just means less bugs for it when it is released...

I can't get it to work. Database error, it keeps telling me. It suggests I get to the toolset wiki, but that doesn't let me do anything.

Error Message: "Unable to connect to the database. Run the toolset configuration program and verify your settings or search the toolset wiki http://social.biowar.../wiki/datoolset to help with this issue.

The toolset must now exit."

What are your settings, or are they simply the default?

I got the problem too, so I did a bit of sleuthing around SQL. I thought I'd got the full version installed and went looking for the Management Console but found that I'd only got SQL 2005 Express installed (how'd that happen?!). Bollix - you don't get the MC with an Express installation despite what MSDN says, so I couldn't see the databases. I checked with the DA toolset database configuration tool and found it looks like its trying to create a database instance into a non-existant database installation. Very clever. So I've trashed Express and I'm busy installing the full version of SQL 2005, while praying it hasn't trashed my databases on the way through. Not that I really care if it has - it's only schoolwork and it's all backed up anyway. Once the full version is installed I'll be able to use the MC to see exactly what's going on.

Did you change the default installation options? The redistributable version of SQL server (can't remember what it's called - I think it's the successor to MSDE) is included, and it's designed such that it can be installed alongside other copies of itself, or other versions of MS SQL server. If you don't have any SQL server installed already, then the installer sets everything up for you - is it possible that your existing database server has an unusual setup, and the installer picked the wrong options?

I'm willing to state that, for whatever reason, the DA Toolset cannot see a full installation of SQL 2005 SP3, not even if you create the database and point it directly to it. Screw it - looks like I'm going to have to settle for a side-by-side installation.

I just chose the default path - I have a full installation of SQL Server 2005.

Might be worth reporting that then, on the official forums or something? I doubt they'll consider it high priority though.
There's no problem with side-by-side installation (I've done loads of them at work) - it might mean a little more disk space is used, if that's a worry, but I doubt it'll harm performance.

Disc space not a problem; a side-by-side installation fixed it. What really gets me is that (bar the servername) the connection string is identical, so why wouldn't the s*d connect?.

Yeah, assuming that you can get your toolset to run. I tried for about three hours earlier this week before giving up in frustration. Other users don't have this problem, though, so you might have more luck.

berelinde, I read somewhere that it has major problems running on XP SP2. Updating to SP3 should solve it though.

Got Vista. And that's got its own set of issues.
