According to news from GameBanshee, all IE games will be re-released on October 30th on DVD. It's interesting news for those of who you haven't got one of the games (I'm thinking PS:T) or just need another copy. Here's the article:

According to this listing on Amazon UK, new boxed versions of Baldur's Gate (+ ToSC), Baldur's Gate II (+ ToB), Icewind Dale (+ HoW), Icewind Dale II, and Planescape: Torment are due for release on October 30th. There doesn't appear to be anything exclusive about the re-releases (aside from the Windows Vista/XP compatibility mention), but at least Europeans will be able to get their hands on Interplay's classic AD&D RPGs a little easier than before.

There are no such listings on Amazon's US website, but it wouldn't surprise me if they show up in the coming weeks/months. Hopefully we eventually get Steam and/or GOG versions, too.

BG + TotSC l BG II: SoA + ToB l IWD + HoW l IWD II l PS:T

The funny part is that I'm itching to buy all of them again, even though I've already got the BG 4-in-1 Compilation, IWD 3-in-1 Compilation, BG cardboard box version, BG Best Buy version, TotSC Best Buy version, BG II: SoA 4CD version, BG II - The Collection Box, BG II: ToB regular version, IWD Best Buy version, HoW regular version with OST, IWD II regular version AND 2x PS:T 4CD version (one cardboard box).

I'm going to fly Gabe Newell to my city out of my money if he's not releasing the IE games on Steam.

The funny part is that I'm itching to buy all of them again, even though I've already got [everything they ever published]...

Eh... why, exactly?

I have the "Ultimate DnD Collection" which has everything but PS:T (have that separately), but it has NWN, ToEE, Demon Stone and some other game I haven't played. It's really bare-bones though and the DVDs seem to be a bit glitchy, so I kind of expect any other "new" compilation will be the same. Don't really see the point in getting just a box with discs when you can make your own backups for cheaper (and probably better).

Well, I AM an IE game fanatic... :)

Plus it seems like those versions have proper support for Vista, which begs the question, are they modified to work better with new hardware as well? Or is that simply a rumor and the boxes are just repackaged?

The reason I even see the above possible is because at GOG they modify games to those ends, so it wouldn't be impossible to have such done by another company for these IE game hard copies.

Edit: Typo

I hope I don't have a deluge of people asking for support in Widescreen for a new BG2 executable.

I think IE support for Vista amounts to "Don't install this to Program Files and/or use UAC" (or my favourite, "Don't use Vista" :)). As for hardware support, that probably amounts to "Don't use newer nVidia cards and/or do some hackery in some post the bigg has floating around." So I really doubt anyone would be updating the .exe files themselves, or even still be able to decompile and interpret them anymore.

GoG games have some sort of no-cd applied. I don't know if it's one of the shitty ones that resize the exe or it's one of the smart ones that change a single JMP. On Steam, OTOH, I have to create a new COPY_EXE function that saves changes to a text file and then loads them using a DLL at launch time (and only works if you're logged to Steam Friends).

I guess I'll have to wait and see if those new releases actually have changes in them, but I certainly hope they do. :)

Wow, not bad, what a nice collection you've got there!

I have PS:T 4 CD version, the Icewind Dale Pack (IWD I and II), The BG-Pack (BG I + Addon + BG II + Addon) and the original BG II. And I thought I was an IE-game fanatic...

Is there any word yet on whether these versions have any changes/updates, or whether they will be getting wider release?

At least for PST there seem to be no changes: http://www.amazon.co...=TxP6FA5EF10SGR

But all four discs on one DVD is an improvement. Though, one can create a DVD from his CD Version of PST self, for me this was the possibility to pack all patches, mods and stuff on the disk, too. So one can save money, if the DVD is the only reason to buy.

I'm sure the BG and Icewind Dale packages are similar.

This is an old thread, but I wanted to address its subject matter, so I didn't think it would be appropriate to start a new one. Is there a one DVD version of PST available in North America? This thread has the link to the UK one, but I can't find one on American Amazon - I only see what looks a CD version.
